SUZAN (TEKBEN) STINSON

Suzan (Tekben) Stinson 10/2/1962-1/04/2018 Our ever-loving, devoted and forever cherished mother, companion and friend passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 4, 2018. A piece of us is forever missing, our hearts are forever heavy. Adorning our world, Suzan was born on October 2, 1962 in Istanbul, Turkey as the second child and only daughter to the late Erdogan and Beverley (Carson) Tekben. Having been born abroad, she began her travel adventures as a child with her family and they spent most summers in Turkey on the beautiful seas. Stateside she attended Goshen Central School District, an impeccable student and active participant in her school community, especially as a cheerleader. Graduating with the class of 1980, Suzan went on to attend Syracuse University on an academic scholarship. Throughout her adulthood, she continued her pursuit and love for travel and culture as a flight attendant and while traveling along with her parents and, her three greatest joys, her children Derek, Lindsay and Zachary. Her love, loyalty and devotion shined through every facet of her life, in everything she did; from her exemplary work and leadership as a supervisor at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield over the last twenty plus years to her unparalleled fanaticism for her beloved Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and Syracuse Orange. The most fierce, loving and supportive mother, dedicated friend, volleyball MVP, 2-year reigning Fantasy Football champion, talented and creative crafter, avid cook and baker- along with being many things to many people, she did it all and did it well. Suzan is survived by her long-time companion Keith Ehre at home; her most loved children, two sons, Derek Stinson of Richmond, ME and Zachary Stinson of Slate Hill, NY; daughter Lindsay Stinson, son-in-law Miguel Pinto and their daughter, Grandma’s most precious peanut, her granddaughter Antalya, of Miami, FL; her beloved Newfoundland, Brody at home; and her brother, Dogan Tekben and his family of Marlton, NJ; along with countless family, friends and the like whom she has touched dearly throughout her beautiful life. Not a day will go by that she will not be missed. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst will officiate. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation in the aid to continue supporting those who care for and save our children, including her cherished granddaughter Antalya.
