HARRY "CHET" SPEARS, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Harry "Chet" Spears age 92 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Belle Reve, Milford, PA.  He was born  on October 25, 1923 in Port Jervis the son of Harry O. and Lucy Smith Spears. Chet proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army.  Chet was the founder and former owner of the Delaware Valley Sand & Gravel Co. and the Delaware Valley Cement Block Co. in Port Jervis. He also became a partner in Lakewood Estates, Inc, Port Jervis.  Chet was a faithful man and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Port Jervis and a member of the Milford Bible Church, Milford, PA.  He was a member of the Gideons International, and a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E. Chet was an avid golfer. He was Past President of the Port Jervis Country Club and former Club Champion.  He married Margaret  Cortright  Spears who pre-deceased him.  He is survived by his son Gary Spears and his wife Kathy of Port Jervis, his daughter Judy  Austin of Clackamas, Oregon, his grandchildren, Andy and Abby Spears, Mark and Karen Spears,Dan Spears, Becky and Shawn Shelley, Jennifer and Jason Larue, Emily Searls, Michael  and Amy Spears, Scott and Ashley Spears, Lisa and Ray Cirulli, Steven and Kara Spears, 23 great-grandchildren, his sister Betty Jean Grech and her husband Alex of Port Jervis, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Rick Spears.  Visitation wil be held Sunday, November 1, from 2-5 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, at 10:30 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home.  Rev. Thomas Mortenson will officiate.  Interment will follow with military honors at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, PO  Box 754, Middletown, NY 10940.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. THOMAS H. DAILEY, JR., PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Thomas H. Dailey, Jr. age 46 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home.  He was born on April 30, 1969 in Port Jervis the son of  Thomas H. Dailey, Sr. and Linda Lee Conklin Dailey.  Tom worked as a Tree Surgeon for Dailey’s Tree Service in Port Jervis.  He is survived by his two sons Thomas Dailey, III, and Matthew  Dailey both of Port Jervis, his two daughters Alyssa Dailey of Port Jervis, and Danielle O’Neil of Rutherford, NJ, his father  Thomas  H. Dailey of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, his mother Linda Lee Dailey of Port Jervis of Port Jervis, four sisters, Brenda Predmore of Port Jervis, Terry Alfieri of Spring Hill, Florida, Megan Dailey  and Ashley Dailey  both of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, his brother Adam Dailey of Wilkes-Barre, two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, form 10-11 Am at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Arthur Sibbllieis officiating  Cremation will take place at HG Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. HELEN M. COLOMBO, GODEFFROY, NEW YORK


Helen M. Colombo age 90 of Godeffroy, NY passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, Pennsylvania.  She was born in New York City, NY on October 11, 1925 , the daughter of William and Catherine Balling O’Connell. Helen married Joseph A. Colombo who pre-deceased her.  She is survived by her daughter Catherine Haas and her companion Daniel Howey of Cuddebackville, her son  Joseph Colombo and his wife  Linda of Summittville, NY, her grandchildren, Cheryl Welsch, Jennifer Robles , Joseph Colombo, III, three great grandchildren, David, Joshua, Cady and several nieces and nephews.  Services will be private. Interment will take place at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Roosa-Fleming V.F. W. #161, 4751 Owen St., Port Jervis, NY  12771.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. PATRICIA A. ELDER, GODEFFROY, NEW YORK


Patricia A. Elder age 63 of Godeffroy, NY passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Middletown, NY.  She was born on  January 31, 1952 in Middletown, NY the daughter of the late  Donald Campbell and Marie Smith Campbell who survives.  Patricia worked as a receptionist at  the office of Dr. Leonora DeCastro in Port Jervis.  She married  James E. Elder who survives at home.  Patricia is also survived by her  mother Marie Campbell of Cuddebackville, her daughter Jeanne Pulos of Cuddebackville, two sons Wayne Collins and Michael Collins both of Cuddebackville,  her brother Duane Campbell and his wife Brenda of Crestview, Florida, four grandchildren, Ashley, who Patti considered her second daughter, Cody, Branden and Dylan, one niece and one nephew. Services are private  at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis -Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. PHYLLIS R. HAMILTON, MILTON, GA., FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK



Phyllis Rappold Hamilton, 86, went home peacefully to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, ending a long journey to life’s end with Alzheimer’s disease. Phyllis was born May 13, 1929 in Matamoras, PA to Charles J. and Mae Dewitt Rappold.  

Phyllis’ loves included her church, The United Methodist Church of Matamoras, which she joined as a seven year old and faithfully served in any way she was called. It was Phyllis’ quiet faith that sustained her throughout her life.  Spending time with family and friends always brought much joy to Phyllis. Keeping her home on Pearl Street in Port Jervis for more than sixty years was also a source of pride, joy, and comfort.  Phyllis always considered Pearl Street her “home”.

A 1946 graduate of Matamoras High School, Phyllis was actively involved in the MHS Alumni Assoc. as long as she was able. Phyllis retired from Bon Secours Hospital as an out patient clerk in 1996, after 25 years of service. Prior to that she was employed at JC Penney and Paul Mark Pharmacy. 

Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Leslie Mucci and her husband Paul of Georgetown, TX and Debra Scarimbolo and her husband Nicholas of Milton, GA.; five grandchildren- Patrick Mucci, Adrienne Mucci Arnold (Adam), Jonathan Mucci (Naomi), Gretchen Smith Brown (Jeff), and Erica Smith Billups (Daniel) and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Mucci, Mason and Campbell Arnold, Ellie and Caleb Brown and Paige and Deacon Billups.  She was pre-deceased by her sister June R. Brush.

The family wishes to thank Mom’s neighbors and friends who kept a watchful eye on her and enabled her to stay safely in her home as long as she did. We would also like to thank Brookdale Memory Care Center in Sandy Springs, GA and The Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s Disease in Atlanta for their loving care of our mother.

Visitation and Memorial services for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, 209 Ave. H, Matamoras PA.  Pastor Lora J. Villinger will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 AM-11AM with the Memorial service to follow at 11am. Internment at Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, 209 Ave H, Matamoras, PA 18336 or a charity of one’s choice.

F. SUSAN MORGAN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


F. Susan Morgan age 73 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Westchester Medical Ctr., Valhalla, NY.  She was born on March 25, 1942 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of  the late Angelo Graziano and Elizabeth Moulton  Graziano who survives.  Sue worked as an assembler for Kolmar Labs, Inc. in Port Jervis, and later  for Price Chopper Food Store in Matamoras, PA. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church.  Sue married Ernest  Morgan who survives at home.  She is also survived by her mother Elizabeth Graziano of Port Jervis, her two daughters,  Vicki Henry and her husband Raymond of Charlotte, NC, her daughter Diann ”Dee” Hocker and her husband Keith of Bluffton, SC,  her three grandchildren,  Kimberli, Lori and Bryan Henry of Charlotte, NC, her two sisters Pauline Schultz and her companion Robert Lehn of Sparrowbush, Teri  Sheard and her husband  Earl of Huguenot, NY her brother Edward Graziano and his wife Mary of Myrtle Beach, several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 10th at 11AM at the Drew United Methodist Church,  49  Sussex St., Port Jervis, NY.  Rev. Robert Cassidy will officiate.  Interment will be private.  Sue had a strong passion for animals, especially dogs. She never met a dog she didn’t like.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY  12771.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. JOAN CHERRY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Joan Cherry age 81 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at her home.  She was born  on December 10, 1933 in Port Jervis, the daughter of Nicholas and Agnes Allen Amato,  Joan retired as an auditor for the Rhulen-Frontier Insurance Co., in Montcello. After her retirement Joan worked for many years  at Gillinder Brothers gift shop in Port Jervis.  She is survived by her son Michael Cherry and his wife Moncia of Huguenot,  her three grandchildren Echo, Kalista, Michael and his wife Gina, several nieces and nephews.  Joan was pre-deceased by her brother Nicholas Amato.  Graveside services will be held  at 1:30 PM, Friday, Ocotber 9th at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Minisink Valley Historical Society, PO Box 659, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to a charity of donor's choice.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E.
