GWENDOLYN A. CARLSON, LAKEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA

Gwendolyn A. Carlson, age 90 of Lakeville, Pennsylvania, died  on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Bethany Village Senior Living Community, Bethany, PA., in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection.  She was born on August 16, 1924 in Hempstead, Long Island, the daughter of the Thomas W. and Grace L. Sandom Gosden. Gwendolyn was a model for Bergdorf Goodman in New York City,NY. She left her modeling career at the outbreak of WW II to work for Sperry Gyroscope Co., manufacturing bomb sites for the war effort.   She was a Past President  of the P.T.A., at the Rockville Centre, Long Island School District, and a former cub scout den mother.  Throughout her life Gwendolyn was very active with each Episcopal Church in the community where she lived.  She is survived by her three sons,  Ret. Lt. Col. Edwin T. Carlson and his wife Patricia of Satellite Beach, Florida, Philip A. Carlson and his wife Brenda of  Houston, Texas and The Rev. Canon David Lee Carlson, Canon Missioner of the Delaware -Catskill  Episcopal Ministry which includes Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis, and his spouse Timothy  of Lakeville, PA.. She is also survived by her granddaughter Nicole Coffin, and three great grandchildren, Edwin, Nicholas, and Quinton.  She was pre-deceased by her husband Edwin A. Carlson and her grandson  Edwin R. Carlson. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, October 25, at 10 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church, 85 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. The Bishop of New York, The Rt. Rev. Andrew M.L. Dietsche, will be the Celebrant.  Private interment will take place at the North Bend Cemetery, North Bend, PA.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church, 84 Seward Ave., Port Jervis, NY 12771.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. WALTER "CHIP" NEWMAN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Walter "Chip" Newman, age 52 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY.  He was born on January 24, 1962 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Walter Newman, Sr. and Consance McBride  Prynkiewicz. Chip proudly served our country from 1980-1986 with the US Navy.  He was a life member of the Tri-State Naval Post, #7241, Port Jervis.  He worked  as a corrections officer at the Otisville Federal Correctional Facility and for Kolmar labs, Inc. in Port Jervis.  Chip married Colleen Conlon- Newman who survives at home.  He is also survived by his two daughters, Jessica Smith and her husband James of Port Jervis, and Emily Devoid and her husband Michael of Ft. Hood, Texas, his son Walter J. Newman, III of Colorado, his mother Connie Prynkiewicz of Port Jervis, his sister Dawn Newman of Port Jervis, three grandchildren,  Ann, Nathaniel, Victoria  and his niece Rhawnie. He was pre-deceased by his step-father Stanley Prynkiewicz.  Visitation wil be held Tuesday, October 28 from 3-6 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. ANNA P. CAMPBELL, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Anna P. Campbell, age 94 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania  died, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Roscoe Regional Resident Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY.  Anna was born on  January 13, 1920 in Sparrowbush, NY, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Helen V. Gilson  Cherry. She was a very faithful  member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church.  Anna taught Sunday School  to the Jr. High and Sr. High School girls for over  twenty years and continues to receive  cards and letters from her frindships. Anna started each day quoting Psalm 118: verse 24,  "This is the day which the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Anna married  Jack B. Campbell who pre-deceased her. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.  Anna was pre-deceased by her two brothers,  F. Edgar Cherry and R. Philip Cherry, her three sisters, Helen Chandler,  Catherine "Kitty" Cherry and Grace Cherry. Anna P. LAWRENCE O. "LARRY" BENSLEY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Lawrence O. "Larry" Bensley, Jr., age 67 of Port Jervis, NY passed away  Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Port Jervis.  He was born on  September 7, 1947 in Wantage, NJ, the son of the late Lawrence O. Bensley, Sr. and Esther McKeeby Bensley. Larry proudly served our country during the Viet Nam War with the US Navy.  He worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Skydyne Inc, in Port Jervis.  He was a life member of the Tri-State Naval Ship, Post 7241 in Port Jervis, a member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept, and the Black Rock Hunting Club.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting the great outdoors and was an avid golfer.  Larry married Diana Mae Conklin Bensley who survives at home.  He is also survived by his three daughters, Trina M. Bensley of Ft. Myers, Florida, Tosha L. Bensley and her companion Alexander Kemmlein of Naples, Florida and Bobbi Jo  Bensley of Port Jervis, three grandchildren, Chloe, Haley,and Axel, three brothers, Gary Bensley and his wife Diane of El Jo Bean, Florida, Charles Bensley and his wife Cheryl of Sparrowbush, Neal Bensley and his wife  Michele of Matamoras, PA., four sisters, Mary Tippens and her companion Lester Taylor of Sparrowbush, Latricia Halstead and her companion Donald  of Lakeland, Florida, Sandra Olver and her husband Robert of Sparrowbush, and Sheila Delgado and her husband Ray of Fruitland, Florda, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Randy and his sister Valerie.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22 for 10 AM-12 noon at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment will follow at Clove Cemetery, Sussex, NJ. MELANIE (ALLEN) BENJAMIN, WURTSBORO, NEW YORK

Melanie (Allen)  Benjamin, loving Mother and the world's best Grandma, age 68 of Wurtsboro, NY peacefully entered  into eternal rest on  Thursday, October 16, 2014 at her home with her children by her side. Melanie was born on  November 14, 1945 in East Meadow, NY, the daughter of the late Ronald and Alma Devereaux Allen and was raised in Mill Rift, PA.  She was a graduate of Delaware Valley High School, Orange County Community College and the New School of Social Research.  Melanie spent her career as a maternity nurse at New York Hospital in NYC, St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, St. Anthony's Community Hospital in Warwick, and more than 25 years at Horton Memorial Hospital in Middletown.  During her career, she was blessed to have the opportunity to witness many births, to work with amazing colleagues, and to make lasting friendships. Melanie was pre-deceased by her loving husband Frank Mastrianni, and her brother Bruce Wayne Allen. She is a  member of the Westbrookville United Methodist Church in Westbrookville.  Melanie is survived by her daughter, Melissa Benjamin and three sons,  Christopher Benjamin, Brian Benjamin and his wife  Lacey, all of Wurtsboro and Matthew Benjamin of Westbrookville.  Throughout her life, her children were her greatest joy and pride.  She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Milani and Matthew Benjamin, Jr. who were the light of her life.  Additionally, she is survived by her  dear friend  William Hentschel of Wurtsboro.  Visitation will be held Monday, October 20, from 6-9 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Services will be held Monday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home, Pastor Fred Loving will officiate.  Cremation will take place at MacLennan Hall Crematory, Milford, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. VIOLET L. KNISSEL, TUCSON, ARIZONA

Violet  L. Knissel, age 97 of Tucson, Arizona and formerly of Port Jervis, NY passed away, August 26, 2014 in Tucson.  She was born on February 15, 1917 at Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Emma Ace Maier.  Violet was a retired cook for the Gates Avenue Restaurant in Ridgewood, New York.  She married the late Robert  Knissel who pre-deceased her. Violet is survived by her daughter, Susanna Dunn of Ridgewood, NY, her two sons,  Robert Knissel  of Tucson, Arizona, and Karl Knissel of  Louisville, Kentucky, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren,  and two great great grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by her brother, Raymond R. Maier.  Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 23, at 12:30 PM at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. FRANCIS A. PAUL, DINGMANS FERRY, PA.

Francis A. Paul, Esq. (Frank), lawyer, teacher, Vietnam-Era veteran, age 68, of Dingmans Ferry, PA passed away on October 11, 2014, at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, NJ. He was born in Passaic, NJ, on June 29, 1946, the son of the late Frank J. and Ann Vas Paul. Frank graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ earning his BA in History. He continued his education at  Pace University Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree. His law practice was in Vernon, NJ.  Frank also retired as a history teacher from Grace Wilday Junior High School in Roselle, NJ, and inspired many of his former students.  Frank was a patriotic man, proudly serving our country during the Viet Nam War  with the US Army. He was always proud to share his knowledge about history and politics with everyone he knew.  He was quick with a joke and a smile, and brightened the world around him. His wit and passion for life was contagious, and his opinions on hot-button topics were never in question. Frank was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He leaves behind many who love him, including his teenage sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Rosemary  McCabe Paul, at home, his son, Matthew A. Paul and his companion, Jenna Keener, of Dingmans Ferry; his daughter, Bethann J. Paul, of Kailua, Hawaii. Frank also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Jessa Rose, Sophia, and Jackson. Frank is survived by four siblings Judith A. Keller and her husband Dr. Frederick Keller of Arizona, Sister Augustine (Pat Paul), Little Sisters of the Poor, of Ohio, Brian Paul of New Jersey, and John Paul and wife Bozena of New Jersey. Frank also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews. Friends may call  Monday, October 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 Pm at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be heldTuesday, October 14 at 11AM at St. Vincent dePaul RC Church, Dingmans Ferry, PA.  Rev. Thomas major will be the celebrant.  Interment will be private. JUDY TAGGART VERTUCCI, GLEN SPEY, NEW YORK

Judy Taggart Vertucci age 72 of Glen Spey,NY passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on October 4, 1941 in Passaic, NJ, the daughter of the late Royal and Lillian Manwaring Taggart. Judy worked as legal secretary for the Law Firm of Bonacic, Krahulic & Associates in Warwick, NY. She was a member of The Christ Eliscopal Church in Warwick. She was an avid animal lover, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Judy married Kenneth Vertucci, who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter Wendy Wheaton and her husband Rick of Marshfield, Mass., her son Kent Vertucci of Charlton, Mass., her sister Marilyn Persico of Deerfield Beach, Fla., five grandchildren Carly, Ryan, and Brooke Wheaton, Matt and Megan Vertucci, her niece Sherri Snyder, 2 gt. nieces, Brittani and Madison. Services will be private. Cremation will take place at MacLennan Hall Crematory, Milford, Pennsylvania. JOSEPH L. VISERTA, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Joseph L. Viserta age 93 of Port Jervis, NY entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on January 5, 1921 on King St., "The Acre" section in Port Jervis, NY. He was the son of the late John and Antoinette Lorenzo Viserta. Joe proudly served our country during WW II with the 551st Airborne, (The Lost Battalion), at the Battle of the Bulge. He then served with the 504th of the 82nd Airborne, US Army. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis. Joe was the retired owner of Joe V's Trucking Co. in Mahwah, New Jersey. He then worked with his son Joe, at the County Metal Yard, New Hampton, NY for 29 years. Joseph celebrated 59 years of marriage to Rose Salvati Viserta, who pre-deceased him in 2005. He is survived by his daughter JoAnne Viserta Galinis and her husband Edward of Huntington Beach, California, his son Joseph R. Viserta and his wife Jean of Middletown, his grandchildren Joanna Ward, Jenna and Joseph W. Viserta, four great grandchildren, Vincent, Susan, Sara Viserta and Samantha Ward, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his four brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be private at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown, NY. Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.
