VERNAY JOYCE BLEST, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Vernay Joyce Blest age 69 of Matamoras, Pa, entered into rest surrounded by her family on May 29, 2019. She was born June 26, 1949 in Middletown, NY the daughter of Edward and Jennie Majka Myslinski. Vernay excelled academically, graduating with honors from Minisink Valley High School, Class of 1967. She worked as a marketing administrator for Piller Power Systems and KW Control Systems, Inc., Middletown, NY. She loved collecting antiques, reading, learning, singing, and music. She often enjoyed listening to her favorite song “The Prayer” as sung by Andrea Bocelli and Katharine McPhee. Vernay will be forever remembered by her devoted husband Clive Blest, her beloved children, sons Christopher Molnar and his wife Marie of Port Jervis, Darin Molnar and his wife Dawn of Shohola, PA, Marcus Molnar and his wife Leana of Highland Lake, NY, daughter Dennay Molnar of Deland, Florida, her treasured brother Edwin Myslinski and his wife Trina of Middletown, NY, her cherished grandchildren Damian, Delaney and Dalia Sooy, Hunter, Nicholas, Skylar, and Madison Molnar, her adored aunt and uncle, Florence and Robert Connoly, and her dear lifelong friend Sandee Coombs. Memorial services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Rev. Diane Sommers will officiate. Interment will be private. Valentina M. Hall, 1 year old Angel, was called to Heaven on May 22, 2019 at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY. She was born on March 30, 2018 in Middletown, NY and is the daughter of Victor A. Hall Beadle and Tina Hall. Valentina is survived by; three siblings; Andrew, Kyla, and Alexander Sumahit grandparents; Mary Capobianco and Charles Houghtaling Jr. of Port Jervis, and Brian and Thelma Vanderver of Port Jervis; great grandparents; Ruth Cheshire, James Ballard, and Lillian Houghtaling of Port Jervis, Peter Harvey of Sparrowbush, NY, Sharon Beadle of Wallkill, NY, Joan and Kenny Capobianco of Florida; Great-Aunt Connie Harvey of Milford, PA; Great-Uncle Scott Small of Milford, PA and Jim Capobianco of Florida; Godmother and Aunt Amanda Capobianco of Swan Lake, NY; Uncle and Godfather Michael Hanley of NY. Dolores J. Spangenberg age 65 of Cuddebackville, NY passed away on May 27, 2019 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was born on September 12, 1953 in Newton, NJ the daughter of the late Cyrus Ladlee and Dorothy Sliker. Dolores worked as a nurse at The Carlucci Home in Port Jervis, NY. She is survived by her husband Joseph C. Spangenberg; three sons; Joseph Spangeberg of Newburgh, NY, John Spangenberg and wife Megan of Huguenot, NY, and Jeff Spangenberg and fiancé Roseanna of Port Jervis; four grandchildren; Brianna Dillon and fiancé AJ Gonzalez, Destiny and Angel Spangenberg, and Justin Howey; three sisters; Judy Bright, Olivia Campbell, and Brenda Flynn; one step-grandchild Isabella Walrath; several nieces and nephews. Donna M. Holmberg age 57 of Port Jervis, NY passed away May 27, 2019 in Port Jervis, NY. She was born on January 26, 1962 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Raymond Shaffer and Vivian Conklin Shaffer Reeves, who survives. Donna was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, in Port Jervis. She married John J. Holmberg who survives at home. Donna is also survived by her four sons; Christopher Holmberg and his wife Adrianna of Port Jervis, Edward Holmberg of Portland, Maine, Brian Holmberg and his companion Chloe of Ithaca, NY, Michael Holmberg at home, her two daughters, Ivanna Scank and her husband Abram of Port Jervis, and Destiny Holmberg and her companion Daniel of Huguenot, her mother Vivian Reeves at home, her sister Diane and her companion Kevin of Glen Spey, her mother-in-law Virginia Holmberg of Port Jervis, her beloved grandchildren; Ava, Alyanna, Gabriella, Kendal, Gwen, Lincoln, and Carlisle, her step-brother Richard Shaffer and his wife Joyce of Glen Spey. Beulah Mae (Thornton) Gammon, 101, recently of the Lucy Corr Continuing Care Community in Chesterfield, VA, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was a native of Sparrowbush, NY and resided there for many years. She was married to William B. Gammon, Jr. on May 18, 1939 until his death in 1979. She was also predeceased by an infant son Ronald in 1942 and a daughter Karen Gammon Ridley of Sparrowbush, NY in 2018. She is survived by a son, William Gammon and his wife Karen of Clifton, VA, Son-In-Law Ed Ridley of Sparrowbush, NY (spouse of Karen), 5 grandchildren: James Gammon (Rebecca) of Charlottesville VA, Morgan Francis (Scott) of Midlothian VA, Elena Gammon of Clifton VA, Doug Ridley (Ashley) of Dover NH, Deven Ridley Zahorsky (Alex) of Shohola PA and 5 great grandchildren. Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, NJ next to her husband of 40 years and near her son Ronald. A graveside remembrance will be at the convenience of and for the immediate family. RICHARD D. CAMPBELL, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Richard D. Campbell age 79 of Matamoras Pennsylvania passed away May 22, 2019 in Port Jervis, NY. He was born on February 10, 1940 in Port Jervis, NY the son of Arthur and Gertrude Howell Campbell. Richard worked as a tool and dye maker and was the proprietor of Mountain Machine Co. in Port Jervis. He was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Port Jervis. Richard loved the great outdoors and was a member of the Matamoras Rod & Gun Club and the Pine Tree Hunting Club. He married Gladys Butler Campbell on May 9, 1959, recently celebrating 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Gladys at home, his daughter Sandra Campbell of Matamoras, his sons, Richard Campbell, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Palm Bay, Florida, Douglas Campbell and his wife Denise of Matamoras, Michael Campbell and his wife Amy of Matamoras, 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his mother-in-law Esther Butler of Sparrowbush. Richard was pre-deceased by his daughter-in-law Donna. Visitation will be held 3-6 PM Friday, May 24th at the First Assembly of God Church, Port Jervis, NY. Patricia C. Conklin age 74 of Port Jervis, NY passed away May 22, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Place in Port Jervis. She was born on April 7, 1945 in Port Jervis, the daughter of Ralph and Marjorie Zurn McBride. Pat worked as a seamstress for many years at Andmore Sportswear in Port Jervis and then at K-Mart in Westfall Township until her retirement. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Howard Wheat Eng. Co. #4, Port Jervis Fire Dept.. Pat lived for her children and grandchildren. She married William P. Conklin, Sr. who survives at home. Pat is also survived by her three daughters; Denise Conklin-Billman and her husband Peter, Peggy Conklin, Lynann Conklin-DeRosa and her husband William “John”, her son William P. Conklin, Jr. and his fiancé Jessica Dorcas all of Port Jervis. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Heather Conklin, Patrice and Ariana Munoz, and Patrick Conklin, her sister Constance “Connie” Prynkiewicz , her brother Charles “Chuck” McBride both of Port Jervis, and several nieces and nephews. Pat was pre-deceased by her beloved grand daughter Lindsey Marie Antoinette Billman, her brothers Ralph “Mick” and Ronnie McBride. AGNES B. MASTERS, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Agnes B. Masters, a lifelong resident of West End in Port Jervis, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Saint Joseph’s Place, Port Jervis. She was 91. The daughter of the late Charles and Olive Gurney Barber, Agnes was born on December 10, 1927 in Port Jervis. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Leonard “Bud” Masters. Agnes, a faithful member of Deerpark Reformed Church, retired as a bank teller from Goldome Bank in Port Jervis after many years of dedicated service. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and his wife Karlene of Hickory, North Carolina and Robert Masters and his wife Roberta of Port Jervis. Agnes is also survived by her beloved sister Lorraine Seeber of Port Jervis; her five wonderful grandchildren: Corey Masters and his wife Fiorda, Ashley, Sara, and Adam Masters and Andy Vanderhule; two great grandchildren Erica and Troy; several nieces and nephews, including her two special and caring nieces Donna Markiewicz and Karen Robinson. Agnes was also pre-deceased by her brother Austin Barber. Instilled at an early age, Agnes’ sense of adventure meant she was always ready to travel with her family witnessing exciting locations locally, around the United States and Europe. Her “suggestions, guidance and map-reading abilities” during those trips will be sadly missed. A memorial service for Agnes will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 1 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis with Reverend Ann Akers officiating. The family would like to thank the entire staff and many residents at Saint Joseph’s Place for the heartfelt love, compassion, friendship (along with the many containers of ice cream!) they provided to Agnes why she was under their care. RANDY L. WALLS, SR., PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Randy L. Walls, Sr. age 65 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1953 in Charleston, West Virginia the son of Harold K. Walls and Betty K. Thompson Walls. Randy proudly served our country from 1971-1975 with the US. Marines and was a member of the American Legion. He retired as an assembler from Kolmar Labs, Inc. in Port Jervis. He was an avid fisherman, he loved fast cars and great music. Randy is survived by his long time companion Carolyn West at home, his two daughters, Melody Walls and her companion John Kelder of Callicoon, and Margaret Brookman of Port Jervis, his two sons, Randy Walls, Jr. of Callahan, Florida and Andrew Walls of Port Jervis, his beloved grandchildren; Trysten and Kylee Hinds, Jasmine and Dominic Brookman, his great grandson Leo Hinds, his sister Yvonne Keyes of Melbourne, Florida, his two brothers, Harold Walls of Palm Bay, Florida and John Walls of Orlando, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Roberta Hallock McCann Jessup age 91 of Barryville, NY passed away May 13, 2019 at The Ellen Memorial Home, Honesdale, Pennsylvania. She was born on July 8, 1927 in Eldred, NY the daughter of Wilbur and Margaret Weber Hallock. In her earlier years Roberta worked for John Bernas Construction, Co. in Fosterdale, NY and then as an accountant for Paul Rouis Accounting Firm in Wurtsboro, NY until her retirement. She was a faithfull member and organist of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church in Pond Eddy, NY. Roberta married Christopher “Mickey" McCann who pre-deceased her in 1982. She then married Carlton Jessup, Sr. who survives. Roberta is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews; Bill and Judi Hallock, Deborah and Amos Spencer, Fred and Barbara Hallock, Walter and Geri Hallock, Penny and Tom Wilson, David McDowell, Chuck and Cheryl McDowell, Valerie Eckert, Charles Hallock, Jr. and Betty, Bob and Angie Hallock, Tim and Linda Hallock, Scott and June Hallock, Sherri Hallock Caiafa, Terry and Bob Ey, Vinnie Hallock, Carlton and Scott Jessup, Dwight and Terri Jessup, Susan and Paul Benedetti, Alan and Maggie Jessup, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. Joan P. Carrillo age 84 of Milford, Pennsylvania passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Port Jervis, NY. She was born in Bellville, New Jersey on August 2, 1934 the daughter of Alfred and Doris Slater Sherman. Joan retired as a clerk from Flintkote Tile Co. in East Rutherford, New Jersey after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart RC church in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Joan was an avid Bingo player and was known as the “Bingo Queen.” She married Anthony T. Carrillo who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her brother Alfred Sherman of Forked River, New Jersey, her nephews; Wayne Mathews and his wife Betty of Milford, Pennsylvania, Rhys Mathews and his wife Doreen of Fairlawn, New Jersey, her nieces Rhyanne Hudson and her husband Tommy of Westford, Massachusetts, Cheryl Bensley and her husband Charles of Palm Coast, Florida, Judy Sherman of Vermont, and her nephew Chris Sherman and his wife Danielle of Toms River, New Jersey. William Witzel age 69 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Port Jervis, NY. He was born on June 10, 1949 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Albert A. And Grace Fumia Witzel. Bill proudly served our country with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a truck driver from Prestige Toyota in Ramsey, New Jersey. He was an active member with the Sparrowbush Fire Dept. William married Lee-Ann Sengstacken Witzel who survives at home. He is also survived by his sister AnnTerpening and her husband Gene of Sparrowbush, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was pre-deceased by his brother Robert Witzel, his sister Grace LaForge and his niece Debbie Terpening. Cremation took place at HG Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA. Matthew M. Avella, Jr. age 76 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away peacefully May 3, 2019 at his home. He was born on August 3, 1942 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Matthew M. Avella, Sr. and Carmel Ross Avella. Matt graduated from Red Hook High School. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee achieving his bachelors degree in engineering. He enrolled at Orange County Community College and earned his license as a registered nurse. He worked for Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY until his retirement. Matt was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and football . His favorite teams were the New York Giants and Yankees. Another favorite he enjoyed was the sport of horse racing. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s RC Church, Port Jervis. Matthew married his high school sweetheart Loretta C. King Avella who survives at home. He is also survived by his three sons; Matthew M. Avella, III and his wife Nancy of Boston, MA, Mark Avella and his companion Barbara Sinclair of Matamoras, PA, Michael Avella and his wife Rachel of Lewisburg, TN., his brothers, Richard Avella and his wife Adrienne of Newark, Delaware, William Avella and his wife Meridee of Tampa, Florida, his beloved grandchildren; Nicole Avella, Matthew Avella IV, Ashley Hansford and her husband Wolff, Mark Avella and his wife Nikki, and his beloved great granddaughter Carlyle Avella and dearly loved several nieces and nephews and cherished in-laws, and a host of many friends. Matt was pre-deceased by his brothers Anthony Avella, John Avella (PFC) KIA, Vietnam and his sister Rosemary Ryals. Visitation will be held 2:30-4:30 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, May 7 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Prayers will be offered 10:15 AM Wednesday, May 8th at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11AM at St. Mary’s R.C.Church, Port Jervis. Rev. Matthew Newcomb will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Matthew’s name to St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. BETH L. LAHEY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Beth L. Lahey age 77 of Port Jervis, NY passed away April 29, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 21, 1941 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Alfred H. Newman and Marian Eberling Newman. Beth retired from the New York State Dept. of Labor in Newburgh, NY. She also worked as a manager at the Blue Stamp Rewards Store in Port Jervis. She is a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, in Port Jervis, a member of the River Valley Chapter, O.E.S. Chapter # 33, Port Jervis, a member of the Port Jervis AARP, and a former Queen and member of the Fidelis Triangle. Beth was a volunteer at Bon Secours Community Hospital since the year 2000. She married Thomas J. Lahey on June 12, 1966 who pre-deceased her on May 14, 2018. Beth is survived by her sister Barbara Parker of Port Jervis, her niece Jo-Ann Van Horn and her husband Carl of Sparrowbush, NY, her nephew Jeffrey Rhoades and his wife Heather of Port Jervis, her great nieces and nephews; Heather and Carl Van Horn, Gregory and Jillian Rhoades, her great great niece Hailey Markle and her great great nephews; Nick and Harry VanKleeck, several cousins including Brigitta, Astrid and Lasse all of Sweden and her beloved pet dog “ Mandy”. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, May 6th at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 7th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY. Beth’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Perry and the staff of Orange and Sullivan Hospice.
