REV. ROBERT E. FOSTER, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK




 
Rev. Robert E. Foster went to be with the Lord on  Monday, February, 16, 2015.  He died at Keller, Texas.  Rev. Foster was born on November 10, 1920 in Cherry Creek, NY, the son of the late George Harmon Foster and Elizabeth Jessica Cookingham Foster. He was born in the same room and house as his mother was born in. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School, he enrolled and  graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, NYearning his Bachelors in TheologyThis was the same school his daughter Nancy, granddaughter Melissa, and son-in-law Jim graduated from in later years. He also played basketball while attending Houghton. He continued his education at The Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia PA., (now Palmer Seminary), earning his Masters of Theology. 
Upon graduation, he received a call to pastor the First Baptist Church in Port Jervis, NY in 1945,  which he served for the next 40+ years. He retired December 31, 1985.

 

After his retirement he was an interim pastor of the Hope Evangelical Church in Matamoras, PA. In addition to serving the pastorate, he served as  President of the Orange County Bible Society, President of the Conservative Baptist Association of New York State and a board member of the Highland Lake Bible Conference. 
Later he served as the first pastor at large of the Sate organization, served as Pastor of Visitation for Calvary Baptist Church, Warwick, NY and was appointed as the first Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church, Port Jervis. He was a faculty member of the Orange County Bible Institute. He was also a member of the Tri-State Bible Conference in Montague, NJ
During his first year at Seminary, he married his college sweetheart, Elsie Burger on April 23, 1943. She died in the first trimester of pregnancy in 1946.
Rev. Foster married Phyllis Wright Foster of Brushton, New York , July 30,1948.  To this couple were born David Robert Foster, deceased July 1969 and Nancy Ellen Foster on May 26, 1952. His wife, Phyllis went to be with the Lord January 2011. 
Rev. Forster's favorite verse is Romans 8:32 -  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
He is survived by his daughter Nancy Hoyer and her husband James of  Keller, Texas, his granddaughters, Melissa Sanders and her husband Keith, Rebecca Aho and her husband Brad, his grandsons, Jonathan Hoyer and his wife Katie, and Steven Hoyer, and eight  great grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis,  to be announced at a later date.  Memorial Funeral services will be held at the Milford Bible Church, Milford, PA and will be announced at a later time.  Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the missionary fund at the Milford Bible Church,110 Foxcroft Road, Milford, PA 18337.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. MARGARET J. CONKLIN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK





 
Margaret J. Conklin age 93 of Port Jervis, NY died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Valley View Health & Rehabilitation  Facility, Goshen, NY.  She was born on October 4, 1921 in Napanoch, NY the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth McGowan Conklin.  Margaret retired as a floor lady from Andmore Sportswear, Inc. in Port Jervis. She was a member of St. Mary's R. C. Church, Port Jervis, a member of the National AARP, and the International Ladies  Garment Workers Union. Margaret married  Clarence "Dick" Conklin who pre-deceased her in 1988. She is survived by her two sons, Clarence Conklin, Jr. and his wife Michele of Port Jervis, and Gary Steven Conklin and his wife Eileen of Port Jervis, several grandchildren including Margaret Seymour and her husband Timothy,Michael Conklin, Dawn Smith and her husband Homer, Gary Conklin and his wife Brook several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Margaret was pre-deceased by her two sons, William B. Conklin and Alan Marshall Conklin and her grandson Steven Conklin.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18 from 10 AM-11AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Wednesday, at the funeral home with Rev. ROBERT L. HISSAM, SR., MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Robert L. Hissam, Sr., age 87 of Matamoras, PA, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis.  He was born on October 12, 1927 in Layton, New Jersey, the son of Lucien and Hazel Major Hissam. Bob proudly served our country during WW II with the US Army. He was a retired truck driver for Rupp Southern Tier Trucking at Middletown, NY. He was a member of the Marsch-Kellogg VFW  Post in Milford, PA., a member of the Teamsters Union Local 445, Newburgh, NY and a member of the Port Jervis Men's Bowling League.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Robert married Catherine O'Grodnick Hissam who pre-deceased him.  He is survived by his two sons, Robert Hissam, Jr. and his wife Samantha of Dayton, Ohio, Joseph Hissam of California, his daughter, Carol Redmond and her husband Thomas of Stone Ridge, his sister "Margaret "Peggy" Lemke and her husband Joseph of Matamoras, NY, eight grandchildren, Katrina, Keriann, Kevin, Kristopher and Matthew Hissam, Michael, Thomas and Joseph Redmond, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Marjorie Cokelette, Myra Stone, his brother William Hissam, and his daughter-in-law Aimee Hissam. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17 from 10AM-12 Noon at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. HENRY ROY ROBERTS, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


HENRY ROY ROBERTS

September 17, 1940 - February 9, 2015

Charlotte, NC - Formerly of Port Jervis, NY

Henry Roy Roberts age 74 of Charlotte, NC and formerly a  life time resident of Port Jervis, NY died Monday,  February 9, 2015 at Charlotte, NC.

He was born on September 17, 1940 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Eugene and Catherine Ross Roberts. Henry retired as a Motor Equipment Operator for the City of Port Jervis Department of Public Works.

He was a life member and Past Captain of the Fowler Rescue & Salvage Co. #3, Port Jervis Fire Dept., he was a Past Diver Master for the Port Jervis Diving Squad, a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E., and a social member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241.  He was a an avid hunter, fisherman and had a love of the great outdoors.  Above all, spending time with his family was most important.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  Henry married Sheila Mae Kurtz Roberts who survives. He is also survived by his children: Melissa Roberts Brantley and her husband, Jarvis of Union, MS, Mark H. Roberts of Port St. Lucie, FL, Thomas G. Roberts of Glen Spey, Anthony M. Roberts and his wife, Kelly of Glen Spey, Heather Roberts Ramsay and her husband, Aaron of Monroe, NC, Megan Roberts an her companion, Scott Harding of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Marlene Horan and her husband, Rex of Port Jervis; two brothers: Michael Roberts and his wife, Paula of Port Jervis, Richard Roberts and his wife, Michele of Port Jervis; 21 grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.  

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Div., 121 Executive Dr., New Windsor, NY 12553 or to the Fowler Rescue & Salvage Co. #3, 22 Hammond St., Port Jervis, NY 12771.

PRESTON L. PENNELL, ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA


Preston L. Pennell age 67 of Port Jervis, NY died  Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Anderson, South Carolina. He was born on November 11, 1947 in Goldsboro, NC., the son of the late Jessie and Alice Harridson Pennell.  Preston worked as a cable maker for C & D Battery Co. in Huguenot, NY.  He married Evelyn Cleland Pennell who pre-deceased him.  He is survived by his daughter, Trudy Kelly of Lisle, NY, his sons Frederick Kelly, Thomas Kelly and his wife  Charlene all of Lisle, NY, his son, Everett Wilson of Newport, Vermont, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Interment will take place at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. DANIEL J, DISIMILE, JR., MILFORD, PENNSYLVANIA

Daniel J. Disimile, Jr., age 59 of Milford, PA. died  on Friday, February 6th, 2015 at Morristown Medical Center .    Danny, was born on May 21, 1955, the son of the late  Daniel J. Disimile Sr. and Elaine Cunningham Disimile. He grew up in Astoria, New York where he attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grammar School and Long Island City High School and moved to Milford in 2000.  In his free time Danny enjoyed spending time with his children and friends and always had his dog Lela by his side.   His hobbies were driving, working on automobiles, scuba diving, and spent many happy and enjoyable hours  riding his motorcycle in the countryside. 
Danny volunteered at Silver Lake Fire Station in Middletown, NY as a firefighter for over 10 years of dedicated service. Most recently he was employed by MIA where he was a Field Safety Compliance Director for 4 years. 
Danny was a kind, hard working family man, loving father and is survived by his five children:
Daniel Thomas of Milwaukee, Wi, Christopher and his wife Heather of Pine Bush, NY
James and his wife Jill of Wurtsborough, NY.
Matthew and his wife Danielle of Ocala, Fl 
LeighAnn of Daytona Beach, Fl. 
He was the beloved brother of:
Kathryn Begley of Milford, Ct.
Danielle MacLeod of Bradenton, FL.
Rita Disimile of Florham Park, NJ
Donna Marie Disimile of Brielle, NJ
Mary Ellen and Carl Hilliard of Clinton, CT,
13 grandchildren and seveal nieces and nephews.
Daniel's family will receive friends on Friday, February 13th from 9:00 AM -10:00AM at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, 111 East High St., Milford, PA.  A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will follow at 10 AM.  Rev. Gregory Kelly will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Calvary Ceemtery, Woodside, NY.In lieu of lowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Chirldren's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

BETTY EHRE, HUGUENOT, NEW YORK

Betty Ehre age 83 of Huguenot, NY died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Memorial Sloan Kettering  Hospital, New York, NY. She was born on November 30, 1931 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Edwards  Burrows. Betty was a faithful member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Knit Wits of the church, a former member of the Board of Directors at the Red School, Huguenot, and a leader for the 4-H Club for many years.  Betty married John “Jack” Ehre who pre-deceased her in the year 2004.  She is survived by her son Keith Ehre and his companion Suzan Stinson of Slate Hill, NY, her two daughters Kathy Abbadessa and her Matthew of Sparrowbush, Kelly Banta and her husband Paul of Sparrowbush, four grandchildren,Morgan Buto and her husband Andy, Lauren and Anthony Retallick, Tyler Banta, her sister, Shirley DeLellas of Port Jervis, several nieces and nephews.  Betty was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law Donald DeLellas.  Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 12, at 11 AM at the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, NY.  Rev. Robert Cassidy will officiate.  Interment will take place at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY in the Spring.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Drew United Methodist Church, 49-51 Sussex St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. KENNETH A. KERTIS, MILFORD, PENNSYLVANIA

Kenneth A. Kertis age 84 of Milford, Pennsylvania died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at his home.  He was born June 22, 1930 in Passaic, New Jersey, the son of the late Andrew J. and Eleis Mathiasen Kertis.  Kenneth proudly served our country during the Korean War with the US Navy.  He was the former owner of Accurate Bronze Bearing Co, in Paterson, New Jersey.  Kenneth married  Barbara Skelton Kertis who pre-deceased him.  He is survived by his two nephews, John Skelton and his wife Heidi of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Matt Skelton and his wife Roisin O'Sullivan of North Hampton, Mass., two nieces, Julie Audi and her husband Robert of Airmont, NY, Susie Mihalski of Nazareth, PA, his brother-in-law  John Skelton and his wife Patricia of Wurtsboro, NY, eight great nieces and nephews.  Services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas  66675.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E.
