Rev. Robert E. Foster went to be with the Lord on Monday, February, 16, 2015. He died at Keller, Texas. Rev. Foster was born on November 10, 1920 in Cherry Creek, NY, the son of the late George Harmon Foster and Elizabeth Jessica Cookingham Foster. He was born in the same room and house as his mother was born in. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School, he enrolled and graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, NYearning his Bachelors in Theology. This was the same school his daughter Nancy, granddaughter Melissa, and son-in-law Jim graduated from in later years. He also played basketball while attending Houghton. He continued his education at The Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia PA., (now Palmer Seminary), earning his Masters of Theology.Upon graduation, he received a call to pastor the First Baptist Church in Port Jervis, NY in 1945, which he served for the next 40+ years. He retired December 31, 1985.
After his retirement he was an interim pastor of the Hope Evangelical Church in Matamoras, PA. In addition to serving the pastorate, he served as President of the Orange County Bible Society, President of the Conservative Baptist Association of New York State and a board member of the Highland Lake Bible Conference.Later he served as the first pastor at large of the Sate organization, served as Pastor of Visitation for Calvary Baptist Church, Warwick, NY and was appointed as the first Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church, Port Jervis. He was a faculty member of the Orange County Bible Institute. He was also a member of the Tri-State Bible Conference in Montague, NJ.During his first year at Seminary, he married his college sweetheart, Elsie Burger on April 23, 1943. She died in the first trimester of pregnancy in 1946.Rev. Foster married Phyllis Wright Foster of Brushton, New York , July 30,1948. To this couple were born David Robert Foster, deceased July 1969 and Nancy Ellen Foster on May 26, 1952. His wife, Phyllis went to be with the Lord January 2011.Rev. Forster's favorite verse is Romans 8:32 - He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?He is survived by his daughter Nancy Hoyer and her husband James of Keller, Texas, his granddaughters, Melissa Sanders and her husband Keith, Rebecca Aho and her husband Brad, his grandsons, Jonathan Hoyer and his wife Katie, and Steven Hoyer, and eight great grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, to be announced at a later date. Memorial Funeral services will be held at the Milford Bible Church, Milford, PA and will be announced at a later time. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, PA. Margaret J. Conklin age 93 of Port Jervis, NY died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Valley View Health & Rehabilitation Facility, Goshen, NY. She was born on October 4, 1921 in Napanoch, NY the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth McGowan Conklin. Margaret retired as a floor lady from Andmore Sportswear, Inc. in Port Jervis. She was a member of St. Mary's R. C. Church, Port Jervis, a member of the National AARP, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Margaret married Clarence "Dick" Conklin who pre-deceased her in 1988. She is survived by her two sons, Clarence Conklin, Jr. and his wife Michele of Port Jervis, and Gary Steven Conklin and his wife Eileen of Port Jervis, several grandchildren including Margaret Seymour and her husband Timothy,Michael Conklin, Dawn Smith and her husband Homer, Gary Conklin and his wife Brook several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Margaret was pre-deceased by her two sons, William B. Conklin and Alan Marshall Conklin and her grandson Steven Conklin. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18 from 10 AM-11AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Henry Roy Roberts age 74 of Charlotte, NC and formerly a life time resident of Port Jervis, NY died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Charlotte, NC.
He was born on September 17, 1940 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Eugene and Catherine Ross Roberts. Henry retired as a Motor Equipment Operator for the City of Port Jervis Department of Public Works.
He was a life member and Past Captain of the Fowler Rescue & Salvage Co. #3, Port Jervis Fire Dept., he was a Past Diver Master for the Port Jervis Diving Squad, a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E., and a social member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241. He was a an avid hunter, fisherman and had a love of the great outdoors. Above all, spending time with his family was most important.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Henry married Sheila Mae Kurtz Roberts who survives. He is also survived by his children: Melissa Roberts Brantley and her husband, Jarvis of Union, MS, Mark H. Roberts of Port St. Lucie, FL, Thomas G. Roberts of Glen Spey, Anthony M. Roberts and his wife, Kelly of Glen Spey, Heather Roberts Ramsay and her husband, Aaron of Monroe, NC, Megan Roberts an her companion, Scott Harding of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Marlene Horan and her husband, Rex of Port Jervis; two brothers: Michael Roberts and his wife, Paula of Port Jervis, Richard Roberts and his wife, Michele of Port Jervis; 21 grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

Preston L. Pennell age 67 of Port Jervis, NY died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Anderson, South Carolina. He was born on November 11, 1947 in Goldsboro, NC., the son of the late Jessie and Alice Harridson Pennell. Preston worked as a cable maker for C & D Battery Co. in Huguenot, NY. He married Evelyn Cleland Pennell who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his daughter, Trudy Kelly of Lisle, NY, his sons Frederick Kelly, Thomas Kelly and his wife Charlene all of Lisle, NY, his son, Everett Wilson of Newport, Vermont, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
