MARY A. COHEN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Mary A. Cohen age 89 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Michael and Vita Cresinza Innella. Mary was a retired floor lady for Andmore Sportswear in Port Jervis. She attended St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis and was a life member of the Tri-State Rod and Gun Club. Mary married Edwin Cohen on August 22, 1952 and celebrated 60 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband Edwin Cohen at home and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Samuel Innella. Friends may call Thursday, December 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Dorothy E. Quick age 96, of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, Penna. She was born on December 11, 2012 in Matamoras, Penna., the daughter of the late John and Charlotte Cole Morse. Dorothy was a retired seamstress for the H&M Knitting Mill in Port Jervis. She attended St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis. She married Nelson "Jesse" Quick who pre-deceased her. Dorothy is survived by her 2 sons, Richard L. Quick and his wife Diane of Port Jervis, and Nelson Quick and his wife Donna of Woodbridge, Virginia, 10 grandchildren, Christine Smith and her husband James, Julie Chuckran, Kelly Quick, Deanna Beter and her husband Dale, Kathy Quick, Arden Herzberger and her husband Ian, Leslie Horne and her husband Ronald, Dawn Grasso and her husband Jon, Brian Quick and his wife Jennifer and Gregory Quick, 10 great grandchildren Amanda, Casey, Nicholas, Joseph, Emmie, Isabelle, Ashleigh, Alyssa, Mackenzie and Michael. ELSIE M. ADAMS, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Elsie M. Adams, age 88 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on September 10, 1924 in Matamoras, Penna, the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Heater Brown. Elsie worked at the Matamoras Silk Mill, Straits Turkey Farm and she retired as a cook for the Delaware Valley School. She was a member of St. Peters' Lutheran Church in Port Jervis, a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Westfall Fire Dept., and a member of the Matamoras Seniors. She married Ward W. Adams, who survives at home. She is also survived by her son Ward "Sam" Adams at home, her daughter-in-law Deborah Adams of Matamoras, her grandson, Woodrow W. Adams and his wife Jessica, and his grand daughter Chelsea A. Adams, 2 great grandchildren, Leah Haas and Avery Adams. Also surviving are Sue Ellen and John Latini and their children, John, Briana, Christina, Brandon and Jaden. Elsie was pre-deceased by her 2 sons, Gale "Woody" Adams and Kenneth Allen Adams. J. VINCENT BISHOP, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

J. Vincent Bishop age 93 of Matamoras, Penna., and formerly life long resident of Port Jervis, passed away Monday December 17, 2012 at home. He was born on October 14, 1919 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Joseph A. and Anna O'Neil Bishop. Vince proudly served our country during WW II with the US Army, serving at the Battle of the Bulge. He fell in love with Cecelia Nowak, a US Army Nurse and they married. After her death he married Eleanor Beyer Bishop who also pre-deceased him. Vince was a grain farmer in Demoines, Iowa and later worked for Skydyne Corp. in Port Jervis until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Matamoras, Penna., a member of the Jones Boys Club from 1936-1940 in Port Jervis, and a member of the Hidden Acres Golf Club in Hainesville, New Jersey. He is survived by his sister, Claire Beemer of Matamoras, his niece Claire Tobin and her husband James of Montague, NJ, his nephew Michael Beemer and his wife Janet of Westminster, Colo., 5 great nieces and nephews and 7 great great nieces and nephews. Prayers will be offered Thursday, December 20 at 9:15AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10 AM at St. Joseph's R.C. CARL J. HENDERSON, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK

Carl J. Henderson, age 58 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away, Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Andes, NY. He was born on October 22, 1954 in Franklin, New Jersey, the son of the late Ferris Henderson, Jr., and Betty Cooper Henderson Meekins. Carl worked as a telephone technician for Century Link, Inc. in Sussex, New Jersey. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and an excellent craftsman. He was a member of the Amateur Trap Shooters Assoc., a member of the Tri-State Rod and Gun Club , the N.R.A.and a member of the Ferris B. and Brian K. Memorial Rod & Gun Club in Andes, NY, where Carl passed away. Carl married the love of his life on June 10, 1978, Colleen Regan Henderson, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 daughters of whom he was very proud, Amanda Gomez and her husband William of Belle Chase, Louisiana, and Caitlin Henderson and her companion, Joseph S. Dalley of Sparrowbush, his brother, William Henderson and his wife Linda of Ft. Washington, Pa. and 2 sisters, Frances Jones and her husband Willie of Bolivia, NC and Suzanne Woffard and her husband Dean of N.C., his 3 grandchildren, who always put a twinkle in his eye, Jessica, William ("Liam") and Ethan, and several nieces and nephews. EDDIE J. FORSTER, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Eddie J. Forster, age 53 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Newburgh, NY. He was born on October 1, 1959 in Middletown, NY, the son of the late John F. and Edna Heater Forster. He was a self-employed carpenter. A family statement read, Eddie was known for his kindness and genorosity to others. He was an outstanding athlete and excelled on the track field during his high school years while competeing against fellow athletes. He loved spending time with his pet dog "Casey". He is survived by his daughter, Caitlin Forster of Port Jervis, his longtime companion, Judi Quick of Port Jervis, 4 brothers, John Forster of Tenn., Dean Forster and his wife Nancy of Pine bush, NY, Ronald Forster of Ohio and William Forster and his wife Delphine of Port Jervis, his sister, Reenie Roman of the State of Washington and several nieces and nephews. SOPHIE B. MARTINOWSKY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Sophie B. Martinowsky, age 97 of Port Jervis, NY passed away, Tuesday December 11, 2012 at Miami, Florida. She was born on April 6, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Sophie Osowick Brigadier. Sophie was a member of The Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis and the Port Jervis Seniors. She was also a member of the 4th Ward Girls Club. Upon her retirement as court clerk for the City of Port Jervis, the Port Jervis Bar Association made her an honorary member on March 27, 1977. Of this fact she was extremely proud. Sophie married Arkady Martinowsky, he pre-deceased her in 1967. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Stella Syracuse and her husband Thomas A. of Miami, Florida, and Julia Herbowy and her husband Roger of Sauquoit, NY., her grandchildren, Cindy Mironti and her husband Neno, Marc Syracuse, Vesna Parks and her husband Chris, Nara Callanan and her husband William and Alana Flemma and her husband Jason., 8 great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Quentin, Gavin, Luc, Avril, Asher and Isadora and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne L. Scherman, age 64 of Forked River, New Jersey, passed away at the home of her son, Rob in Port Jervis. She was born on September 27, 1948 in Warwick, NY, the daughter of the late Harry L. Decker and Edna Wormuth Decker. Jeanne was a retired supervisor for United Parcel Service in Parsippany, New Jersey. She married Ronald L. Scherman, who survives. Jeanne is also survived by her 3 sons, Rob Scherman and his wife Kathy of Port Jervis, Sean Scherman of Warwick, NY and Chad Scherman and his wife Gina of Milford, Penna., her grandchildren, Stephen, John, Kammy, Harley, Chad,Jr., Jessica, Moose and Molly, 2 great grandchildren, Kayden and Jeremiah, her 2 sisters, Karen Mikulski of Campbell Hall, NY, and Joy Sebasta of Marlboro and several nieces and nephews. NORMAN S. MACASKILL, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Norman S. MacAskill age 89 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. He was born on December 24, 1922 in Mulhagarry, Eisken Lochs, Scotland, the son of Donald and Jessie Stuart MacAskill. Norman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Jervis and volunteered for many years at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He served with the Royal Air Force during WW II. Norman was an avid animal lover and was known for his rescue of Greyhounds. He traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and overseas. He worked as sales agent for Air Canada at Fort Lee, New Jersey. Norman married Margaret Alexander MacAskill, who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his 2 sons, Malcolm MacLeod and his wife Mary of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Gordon MacLeod and his wife Morog of Scotland. 7 grandchildren, Donald J., Sheila, Heather, Mary, Donald A., Murdo and Lackey MacLeod. 12 Great grandchildren, 2 nieces, Dierdre and Alison and 1 nephew Stewart. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 12 at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis, NY. Rev. Jay Losher will officiate. In additon to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Justin T. Decker, his maternal grandmother Rita Cosh of Matamoras, Pa., maternal grandfather, Chis Padgett and his wife Debra of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., paternal gt. grandmother, Dorothy Decker of Franklin,NJ, maternal gt. grandparents, Ed & Betty Babcock of Port Jervis, Maude & Bob Turse of Dingmans, and Harry Padgett of Wantage, NJ, his gt.gt. grandmother Catherine VanderMark, his Godmother, Shalenia Gruver of Matamoras, several cousins, aunts and uncles. Milton A. May, Jr., age 82 of Westbrookville, NY passed away, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1930 in Weissport, PA., the son of the late Milton A. May, Sr. and Myrtle Hunsicker May. Milton proudly served our country with the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Following the War Milton attended Franklin & Marshall College at Lancaster, Penn. He retired as a District Manager for Tandy Corp., located in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a member of the Westbrookville United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Post #927 in Gilbert, PA. Milton married Concita "Connie" Appezzato and celebrated 48 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Connie, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Marlene May of Greenwich, Conn., and Michele Lattimer and her husband Bill of Westbrookville, his son Keith May of Middletown, NY, 2 sisters, LaDon Page White and her husband Chris and Cork Killian and her husband Kenneth all of Dover, Delaware, his brother Larry May and his wife Shirley of Port Charlotte, Florida, his grand daughter Brittany Lattimer and several nieces and nephews. Gladys E. Kuhn, age 85 of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd and Edna Schauer Ellnor. Gladys was a retired assembler for Kolmar Labs, Inc., in Port Jervis. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Port Jervis and a member of the church choir. She was married to the late Elmer Kuhn. Gladys is survived by her son, James Kuhn and his wife Diana of Port Jervis and her daughter, Edna Everett of Port Jervis, 9 grandchildren, Robert, Jackie, Robin, Kelly, Sandra, Valerie, Amy, Scott and Lobo, her great grandchildren, Scarlett, Nicholas, Colin, Phillip, Da'Shell, Izanami, Sierra E., Alicia, Nicole, Natahsa, Autumn, Sierra C. and Christopher, her great grandson, Trenton Thomas. WILLIAM F. NESTER, WESTTOWN, NEW YORK

William F. Nester, age 94 of Westtown, NY passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Middletown Park Manor, Middletown, NY. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 17, 1918 , the son of the late Frank and Mary Siwek Nester. He proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army. Bill was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal System in Wantagh, New York. He married Anna Akadimitzky Nester, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, Anna Copolla and Michael Fuchs, 4 great grandchildren, Sophia and Maxwell Fuchs and Alexander and Isabella Copolla, his son-in-law Lawrence Fuchs of Sound Beach, NY and his daughter-in-law Pamela Greene. RALPH EMERSON QUICK, PETERSBURG, FLORIDA, FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Ralph Emerson Quick, formerly of Port Jervis, died Tuesday, November 27, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 66 years old. Ralph was born December 17, 1945 in Middletown,NY the son of the late Sidney Jesse Quick and Helen Fiero Quick . He graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1964 and worked for both Kolmar Laboratories and Hosking Electric as an Electrician. Ralph joined the U.S. Navy in October 1966 and served as a Chief Petty Officer 3rd Class He was a Parachute Rigger and served on the attack squadron on the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Enterprise. He received a letter of commendation for outstanding performance on the USS Independence for superior combat effectiveness during massive air strikes against North Vietnam in July-Nov 1965. Ralph was proud to serve his country and appreciated the opportunities it gave him to see many beautiful places in the world. He met Linda Garms, the love of his life, in 1972. He moved to Florida in 1974 and she joined him there the same year. They were married in February, 1981. Ralph continued his work as an Electrician in Florida, working for several Yacht manufacturers until he injured his foot and was unable to continue working. Ralph was a collector of antiques, coins and memorabilia. He enjoyed treasure hunting and restoring 1956 Chevys. He was fascinated with World History, particularly that of World War II. He loved music; rock & roll in his early years and country western in his later years. He also enjoyed the Wagon Wheel Flea Market, where he spent many weekends, selling items and talking to people. Ralph is survived by his wife Linda, at home, his sister Carol Langlitz and her husband Mel of Thompson Ridge NY, his brother Robert and his wife Barbara of Port Jervis NY, his brother Sidney and his wife Marie (Sis) of Otisville, NY, his dog Holly and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Ralph's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Jervis on Thursday, December 13 at 11:00. Rev. Jay Losher will officiate. Interment will be private.
