ISOLDE ARCIER, CUDDEBACKVILLE, NEW YORK

Isolde Arcier of Cuddebackville, NY passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016.  She was a loving devoted wife and great friend.  She will be truly missed by those who loved her.  She was born in  Berlin, Germany on November 4, 1921 the daughter of the late Oskar and Irma Lowenstein Rosenthal.  Under the guidance of her father, her family fled Germany before the start of WW II.  As a teenager Isolde and her family  moved to the United Sates and at the age of 23 she attained her US citizenship on January 31, 1945.  She attended the Art Student League where she met Charlie Arcier.  She married the love of her life  Charles  on July 18, 1961.  They moved to Cuddebackville in 1971. Isolde  held many different jobs but art design was her passion.   She became a fabric designer and  created wallpaper patterns  for custom designing.  As a talented artist she enjoyed creating water colors, making collages, cooking, an avid reader  and watching old movies were among her favorite things. Isolde was a true animal lover.  She adopted many shelter  cats and dogs throughout her life. She was predeceased by her husband  Charles Arcier,  her sister Margo Schoneman and her brother-in-law Fred Schoneman. For those of us she left behind it is for us to remember her friendship and loving ways.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, 202 Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, Inc., 237 Brown St., E. ESTHER C. HOCKENBERRY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Esther C. Hockenberry age 81 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Morristown, New Jersey.  She was born on  August 20, 1934 in Matamoras, PA the daughter of Austin G. Crane, Sr. and Gertrude Strunk Crane.  Esther retired after many years of service from the cafeteria department of the Port Jervis School District.  She was a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, a Deacon with the consistory of the church, Sunday school teacher and a member of the League for Service.  Esther was an active member, Past Matron of the River Valley Chapter, #33, O.E.S., and  a representative from the State of Texas with the Eastern Stars.  She was a former Gray Lady for  St. Francis Hospital, Port Jervis, a former Den Mother for the Port Jervis Cub Scouts and a member of the local chapter of the Red Hats Society. Esther married  Robert E. Hockenberry, who survives at home.  She is also survived by her daughter  Carol  Bianchi  of Exeter, PA, her son David R.  Hockenberry and his wife  Karen of Milford, PA, her sister Nancy DiGiantommaso and her husband Edward of Port Jervis; five grandchildren; Monica, Casey,  Catherine, Lea, Jamie, five great grandchildren; Jacob, Coral, Nicholas, Aayden and Joseph, several nieces and nephews.  Esther  was pre-deceased by her brother Austin G. Crane, Jr.. Memorial services will be held  11 AM Tuesday, May 31, at the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis.  Rev. Ann Akers will officiate.   Interment will take place at a later time at the Orange County Veterans  Cemetery, Goshen, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Deerpark Reformed Church, 30 E. SANDRA R. BRISITA, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Sandra R. Brisita, age 49, of Port Jervis, NY passed away on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Westchester Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, NY. She was born on July 1, 1966 in Puerto Rico and is the daughter of the late Rafael Brisita and Betty Reynosa-Paniagua who survives in New York City, NY. Sandra worked as a independent contractor for State Farm Insurance in Pleasantville, NY. She is survived by her fiancé Bohdan “Bob” Gafycz of Port Jervis, NY; three daughters: Nathalie Madera, Jaqueline Demarco, and Kassandra Salazar; two sons: Kirby Salazar and Joshua Brisita; and five grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday May 20, 2016 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771. Funeral services were held at 9:00am at the funeral home with Rev. ROBERT R. CASE, JR., PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Robert R. Case, Jr., age 56 of Port Jervis, NY passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1960 in Port Jervis, NY and the son of the late Tomas Quevedo and Margaret Howell Quevedo who survives. Robert  proudly served our country from  1979 to 1982 with the  US Army. He worked for 22 years as a warehouseman and shop steward for Wakefern Distributors in Middletown, NY with Union Local 445. For the last  nine years Bob was employed  with Homeland Security/TSA at Stewart Int’l Airport in Newburgh.  Robert was a loving husband, son, father, and grandfather. He was an avid hunter.  He was  a graduate of Port Jervis High School and was the recipient of numerous awards and trophies for sports. He served as  a coach for the  Girl’s Port Jervis Little League Softball team.  He is survived by his wife Dolores Wolff Case who resides at home; his mother Margaret Quevedo of Port Jervis, two daughters: Loni and Kelsie Case of Port Jervis, NY; one son: Roger Mason of Port Jervis, NY; his brother: John Quevedo and his partner Daniel Davidson of Port Jervis, NY; his sister: Jacqueline Lederman and her husband Edward of Albany, NY; two grandchildren: Aryanna Rodriguez and Russell Sisson, III; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:30am at the funeral home.  Rev. Dennis Dinan will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors in Sparrowbush, NY. EDWARD F. WORZEL, JR., PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK, FORMERLY OF SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK

 

Edward F. Worzel, Jr., age 94 of Port Jervis, NY and formerly of Sparrowbush, NY passed away  Monday, May 16, in Gainesville, VA.  He was born on August 8, 1921 in Sparrowbush, NY the son of  Edward F. Worzel, Sr.  and Gertrude Wootton Worzel.  Edward proudly served our country  as a Staff Sgt. during WW II with the US Army Air Force.  He was an aircraft  instrument specialist serving air offense  in  Europe,  India and China before returning to the US.  He worked for many years as a Union Carpenter with Local Union, #279 in Long Island, NY.  Ed was a member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church; a member of the Keystone Consistory, Valley of Scranton, 32nd Degree Masons; a member of Irem Temple Shriners; Past Master of the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons, #328 F & AM; member and Past Chaplain of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O. E.;  a life member, Trustee and former Commander of the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. # 161, Port Jervis; a member of the  Port Jervis Fire Dept.,  Maghogomock Hook & Ladder Co, # 1; and a former member of the Sparrowbush Fire Dept.,  Engine Co.  #1. He married Dorothy Blackman Worzel who pre-deceased him.  He is survived by his two daughters Kathleen Henry and her husband  Leonard of Gainesville  VA, and Mary Lou Hack of Port Jervis, his grandsons,  Matthew Henry and Christopher Launt, his stepson Joseph DeGroat of Iowa, several  great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law Kenneth Hack.  Funeral services will be held  12 Noon, Tuesday, May 24 at the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church, 44 Main St., Sparrowbush, NY.  Rev. VERNON C. CLARK, WAYNESBORO, VIRGINIA, FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Vernon C. Clark, age 89, of Waynesboro, Virginia and formerly  of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Fishersville, VA.  He was born on April 12, 1927 in Pond Eddy, NY, the son of Ernest and Eunice Hallock Clark.  Vernon retired as a forestry supervisor for Orange & Rockland Utilities in Port Jervis and was a member of ORRA.  He was a former member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church in Pond Eddy, NY.  He proudly served our country during  WW II with the US Navy and was a member of the  Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post #1363 in Eldred, NY.  He was also a member of AARP.  Vernon was first married to the late Reta  Kalin Clark and second to Carolyn Hallock Clark who survives at home.  He is also survived by his son, granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Vernon was pre-deceased by his daughter, Sharon “Cherie” Clark, his brother, Orville Clarkhis sister, Stella Leavenworth, and his cousin-brother, Douglas Hallock.  Services and interment will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771.  Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Patricia R. Heyburn age 74 of Matamoras, PA passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on March 15, 1942 in the Bronx, NY the daughter of Edward and Mary Kelly. Patricia was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis. She was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas C. Heyburn. Patricia is survived by her son Michael Heyburn of Narrowsburg, NY, her two daughters; Eileen Heyburn at home, Lorraine Couturier and her husband John of Shohola, PA, her sisters; Cecelia Costa, Katherine Citrik, Theresa Montgomery, and her brother Peter Kelly, three grandchildren; Michael, Christopher, Carlina, three great grandchildren; Wyatt, Penelope, Emma, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Eddie and Billy Kelly. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11th from 1-5 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. A Blessing Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Michael Calafiore officiating. The Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 161 will conduct memorial services at 3 PM. Charlotte P. Smith age 91 of Shohola, PA passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Milford Health and Rehabilitation Center, Milford, PA. She was born on June 14, 1924 in New York City, NY the daughter of Herman and Harriet Lindner. Charlotte was a faithful member of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Shohola and a member of the Lay Missioners of Charity of the Order of Mother Teresa. She was married first to the late Harold J. Scarisbrick and second to the late Robert Smith. She is survived by her son, J.P. Scarisbrick and his wife, Colleen of Massapequa, NY; grandsons, Ryan and Sean; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10th at St. Ann's R.C. Church, 123 Richardson Ave., Shohola, PA. Blanche E. Abers age 87 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at her home.  She was born on July 9, 1928 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Frank and  Marion Wyss Barber.  Blanche  was an avid bowler and bowled with the Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League in Port Jervis.  She married Donald E. Abers who pre-deceased her.  She is survived by her  daughter Lisa Abers of Port Jervis, her two sons, Steven Aber and his wife  Teresa of Port Jervis, Donald Abers, Jr.  and his wife Tracey of Okeechobee, Florida, five grandchildren; Luke, Sandra, Christopher, Carlota, Tamara, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her  brothers, Elton “Dude” Barber and William “Bill” Barber.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Judith A. Schneider age 66, of Port JerVis, New York, passed away  May 3, 2016 at Highland Rehab  and Nursing Center in Middletown NY. She was the daughter of the late George W Stanis and  Loretta Daley Stanis who survives. She was born on July 29, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut. She is survived by her 16 year companion Kenneth Belcher of Port Jervis, NY; her mother Loretta Daley Stanis of  Waterbury, Coon, her  son: John O’Dell of Port Jervis;  daughter Lisa Minor and her husband Thomas of Thompson, CT; three brothers: Keith Stanis and his wife Veronica of Waxhaw, NC, Kevin Stanis and his wife Bonnie of Seymour, CT, and Thomas Stanis of Oakville, CT. JUNE HETER KALSINSKY, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

June Heter Kalsinsky age 98 of Matamoras, PA passed away  Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis.  She was born on April 23, 1918 in Florida, NY the daughter of  Martin and Mary Kroger Heter.  June retired as a Manager of the Men’s Dept. for Jamesway Department Store in Montague, NJ.  She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Matamoras and a member of the Alter & Rosary Society of the church.  June had a love for animals, especially caring for cats.  She is survived by her several nieces and nephews  and a host of special close friends.  June was pre-deceased by her  two brothers  Martin and Stanley Heter and her sister Agnes  Sloan.  Visitation will be held Friday, May 6 form 9:30AM-10:30 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Prayers will be offered at 10:15 AM, Friday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burail at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 307  Ave F, Matamoras, PA.  Rev. Gregory Kelly will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Florida, NY with Rev.
