Edward F. Worzel, Jr., age 94 of Port Jervis, NY and formerly of Sparrowbush, NY passed away Monday, May 16, in Gainesville, VA. He was born on August 8, 1921 in Sparrowbush, NY the son of Edward F. Worzel, Sr. and Gertrude Wootton Worzel. Edward proudly served our country as a Staff Sgt. during WW II with the US Army Air Force. He was an aircraft instrument specialist serving air offense in Europe, India and China before returning to the US. He worked for many years as a Union Carpenter with Local Union, #279 in Long Island, NY. Ed was a member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church; a member of the Keystone Consistory, Valley of Scranton, 32nd Degree Masons; a member of Irem Temple Shriners; Past Master of the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons, #328 F & AM; member and Past Chaplain of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O. E.; a life member, Trustee and former Commander of the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. # 161, Port Jervis; a member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept., Maghogomock Hook & Ladder Co, # 1; and a former member of the Sparrowbush Fire Dept., Engine Co. #1. He married Dorothy Blackman Worzel who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his two daughters Kathleen Henry and her husband Leonard of Gainesville VA, and Mary Lou Hack of Port Jervis, his grandsons, Matthew Henry and Christopher Launt, his stepson Joseph DeGroat of Iowa, several great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law Kenneth Hack. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, May 24 at the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church, 44 Main St., Sparrowbush, NY. Rev. Amy Garrett will officiate. Interment will follow with military honors at Mill Rift Cemetery, Mill Rift, PA. Vernon C. Clark, age 89, of Waynesboro, Virginia and formerly of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Fishersville, VA. He was born on April 12, 1927 in Pond Eddy, NY, the son of Ernest and Eunice Hallock Clark. Vernon retired as a forestry supervisor for Orange & Rockland Utilities in Port Jervis and was a member of ORRA. He was a former member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church in Pond Eddy, NY. He proudly served our country during WW II with the US Navy and was a member of the Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post #1363 in Eldred, NY. He was also a member of AARP. Vernon was first married to the late Reta Kalin Clark and second to Carolyn Hallock Clark who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vernon was pre-deceased by his daughter, Sharon “Cherie” Clark, his brother, Orville Clark, his sister, Stella Leavenworth, and his cousin-brother, Douglas Hallock. Blanche E. Abers age 87 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at her home. She was born on July 9, 1928 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Frank and Marion Wyss Barber. Blanche was an avid bowler and bowled with the Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League in Port Jervis. She married Donald E. Abers who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Abers of Port Jervis, her two sons, Steven Aber and his wife Teresa of Port Jervis, Donald Abers, Jr. and his wife Tracey of Okeechobee, Florida, five grandchildren; Luke, Sandra, Christopher, Carlota, Tamara, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Elton “Dude” Barber and William “Bill” Barber. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. At the request of the family they would appreciate guests wear informal attire. Judith A. Schneider age 66, of Port JerVis, New York, passed away May 3, 2016 at Highland Rehab and Nursing Center in Middletown NY. She was the daughter of the late George W Stanis and Loretta Daley Stanis who survives. She was born on July 29, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut. She is survived by her 16 year companion Kenneth Belcher of Port Jervis, NY; her mother Loretta Daley Stanis of Waterbury, Coon, her son: John O’Dell of Port Jervis; daughter Lisa Minor and her husband Thomas of Thompson, CT; three brothers: Keith Stanis and his wife Veronica of Waxhaw, NC, Kevin Stanis and his wife Bonnie of Seymour, CT, and Thomas Stanis of Oakville, CT.
