Dorothy "Dolly" Klotz, Sparrowbush, New York

Dorothy "Dolly" Klotz, a retired court clerk for the City of New York in Brooklyn and longtime area resident, died Wed. Feb 22, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 95.

The daughter of the late James and Mary Johnson Thornton, she was born Nov. 1, 1910 in Brooklyn.

She was the widow of Louis W. Klotz.

She was a member and choir member of Most Sacred Heart RC Church; member of Catholic Daughters Court Madonna #114, Port Jervis; Catholic Court Attache Guild, NYC, N.Y.; National AARP; and Sparrowbush and Milford Seniors.

Survivors include her son, Robert L. Klotz and wife Peggy of Sparrowbush; 10 grandchildren, Linda Ann Collins, Laurence F. Collins and wife Kathy, Joseph P. Klotz and wife Dawn, Cathleen Erenzo and husband Jim, Joanne Collins Rios, Christopher R. Klotz and wife Carrie, Michael Collins and wife Lori, Matthew L. Klotz and wife Jennie, Pamela F. Henn and husband Arthur, Elizabeth M. Klotz; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dolly was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Ann Collins.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Catholic Daughters will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Most Sacred Heart RC Church, Port Jervis.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.

Kathleen P. Gibbons, Westtown, New York

Kathleen P. Gibbons of Westtown, a lifelong resident of the area, died surrounded by her family on February 14, 2006. Kathleen was 36 years of age.

The daughter of Stephen L. and Suzanne Law Gibbons, Kathleen was born on June 13, 1969 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Kathleen was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis. She was a participant in the Up Front Program in Port Jervis and the A.H.R.C. on Mount Hope Road in Middletown, N.Y.

Kathleen is survived by her parents, Stephen and Suzanne Gibbons, at home; an adoring sister, Jennifer and beloved brother, Stephen, at home. Kathleen is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Christina and Ernie Webber of South Seaside Park, N.J., James and Carole Gibbons of Manchester, N.J., Robert and Cathy Gibbons of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joseph Gibbons of Thomson, Conn., and Marion and John Messinio of West Hempstead, N.Y.

Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. on Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17 at 10:15 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow services at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, N.Y., with the Rev. Dennis Dinan officiating.

Cremation will be at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, N.Y.

Marjorie J. Finlay, Matamoras, Pa.

Marjorie J. Finlay, a retired sales associate for JC Penney Dept. Store, Port Jervis and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at the Milford Senior Care Facility in Milford, Pa. She was 84.

The daughter of the late Daniel McPeek Sr. and Edith Snyder McPeek, she was born Feb. 6, 1922 in Matamoras, Pa.

She was the widow of Robert E. Finlay.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Matamoras; former member of the Pocono Chapter #46, Order of the Eastern Star, Matamoras, Pa.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Michulski and husband Joseph of Town of Greenville; three grandsons, Joseph R. Michulski, Shane M. Finlay and Eric J. Finlay; one great-grandson, Joseph Michael Michulski; one great-granddaughter, Myah Elizabeth Finlay; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son James "Jimmy" Finlay; three brothers, Charles, Lloyd and Daniel McPeek and two sisters, Marion Phillips and Gladys Lyon.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date and will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

Eleanora "Lee" Palmer, Barryville, New York

Eleanora "Lee" Palmer, a retired Secretary for A.K.C. Kennell Club in Manhattan, N.Y., and longtime resident of Barryville, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Bethany Village, Bethany, Pa. She was 91. The daughter of the late William Post Alston and Eleanora Seibert Parker, she was born March 27, 1914 in Queens, N.Y. She was the widow of Richard Earl Palmer. Lee was a member of St. Ann's R.C. Church in Shohola, Pa.; the Rosary Society of St. Ann's Church; member of the North Shore Animal League; the Ladies Auxiliary of Eldred American Legion Post #1363; member of the American Cancer Society, fundraising; and member of The Salesian Missions, New Rochelle, N.Y. She is survived by two sisters, Hazel Iasiello of Kingston and Shirley Scarano of Crystal River, Fla.; one brother, William Parker of Canajoharie, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews, including Gary Eckhart of Barryville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's R.C. Church, Shohola, Pa. with the Rev. Philip Rayappan officiating. Frank R. Schneider, Port Jervis, New York

Frank R. Schneider, a retired police sergeant for the Port Jervis Police Dept., later retiring from the Port Jervis US Postal Service and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 88.

The son of the late John J. Schneider and Hildegarde Schild Schneider, he was born March 25, 1917 in Port Jervis.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Port Jervis. Frank was a veteran of the US Navy, serving as a Sea Bee in the Alleutian Islands and the South Pacific, during WW II.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Port Jervis Country Club and served on the Board of Governors for many years. He was a former Port Jervis Little League Coach; active member of the Youth Bowling Group of St. Peter's Lutheran Church; charter member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Port Jervis; member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, BPOE; Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328 F&AM; member of the Royal Arch Masons, Neversink Chapter #186; and owner and member of the White Tail Hunting Club, Cahoonzie, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife at home, Laura Jane Eckert Schneider; two daughters, Susanne S. Case and husband Doug of Sula, Mont., Pamela Unich and husband Howard of Lewisville, Texas; four grandchildren, Terri L. Devore of Port Jervis, Lisa Zinner Brace of Port Jervis, Nicholas Unich and Matthew Unich both of Lewisville, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Geoffrey Zinner Outwater, Michael Brace, John H. Devore; sister-in-law, Peggy Eckert of Port Jervis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Carl Schneider and nephew Russell Schneider.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Port Jervis Lodge of Elks will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. and Mason services will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert E. Foster officiating.

Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.

Debra Anne Kangal, Matamoras, Pa.

Debra Anne Kangal, a dental hygienist and lifelong area resident, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa. She was 48.

The daughter of William B. Thompson and Theresa Lynaugh, she was born Dec. 9, 1957 in Brooklyn.

Survivors include her son, Daniel Kangal and girlfriend, Rebbeca of Hawley, Pa.; one granddaughter, Emily Kangal.

Visitation, services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

George L. Donahue, Port Jervis, New York

George L. Donahue, a retired construction worker for Sullivan County Highway Products, Cuddebackville and lifelong area resident, died Sat. Feb. 4, 2006 at St. Joseph's Place in Port Jervis. He was 84.

The son of the late Albert and Lillian Dexter Donahue, he was born August 14, 1921 in Tusten, N.Y.

Survivors include wife Virginia Weber Donahue at home; two sons, William McBride and wife Sandy of Winterhaven, Fla. and Richard McBride and wife Cheryle of Darby, Mont.; four sisters, Lucy Brown and Nellie Hjerrild both of Glen Spey, Lena Kent of Port Jervis and Adele LaBarr of Lava, N.Y.; three brothers, Albert "Don" Donahue of Glen Spey, John "Wick" Donahue of Lava and Lester Donahue of Wurtsboro; five grandchildren, Billy, Aaron, Raymond, Colleen and Robert; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Jim Barnes and daughter, Nancy McBride.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.

Mary Etta Wood, Eldred, New York

Mary Etta Wood, age 86, late of Yulan, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, N.Y. She was a lifelong resident of the area, born April 10, 1919 at Eldred, N.Y.

She was a loving mother, homemaker, and caring person. She was the daughter of the late Robert Rundle and Lydia Sullivan Rundle.

Mary Etta was formerly married to the late Bernard Kunkeli, to the late Leonard Crandall, to the late Robert C. Hallock and then married Lawrence A. Wood, who gave her his love and care.

A family statement reads: "Mary Etta was an extremely generous person, who loved flowers, animals and especially doing for her family and friends. Mary Etta's family would like to thank all the folks at Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility."

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence A. Wood, at home; one son, Bernard Kunkeli Jr. of Narrowsburg; one daughter, Rose B. Fredricks of Narrowsburg; three step-daughters: Linda Forrand of Lake Isabella, Calif., Marie Helbig and her husband, Charles, of Zeberlon, N.C., and Carolyn Clark and her husband, Vernon, of Waynesboro, Va.; two step-sons, Lawrence D. Wood and his wife, Alice, of Carlstadt, N.J. and John Hallock and his wife of New Jersey; several grandchildren including: Darren Brodmerkel, Lance Brodmerkel, Conni Bisneski and her husband, Mark, Todd Kunkeli and his wife, Chantel, Yancy Kunkeli and his wife, Theresa; one sister, Julia McBride of Monticello; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by five brothers: Delbert, Lester, Robert, Peter and Calvin. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Sadie and Margaret.

Friends may call on Friday, February 3, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment will take place at Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, N.Y.

Dorothy Uhlig, Port Jervis, New York

Dorothy Uhlig, a retired sewing machine operator for Kaplan-Lippman of Port Jervis and longtime area resident, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 98.

The daughter of the late Emile and Mary Murray Niederhauser, she was born Feb. 14, 1907 in Patterson, N.J.

She was the widow of Werner Erich Uhlig.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Port Jervis, founder and first president of Ladies Auxiliary of Huguenot Fire Dept. Dorothy initiated the formation of the Deerpark Leisure Club and was a member of the Deerpark Seniors where she formed the first dance sessions. She was also a former member of the Neversink Valley Grange #1530, Huguenot.

Survivors include one son, Reverend Karl Uhlig and wife Rev. Jean of Forest City, N.C.; two daughters, Kathleen Starbuck and husband Don of Port Jervis, Helene Kuhn and husband Edward of Matamoras, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, with the Rev. William Wildeman officiating.

Burial will be in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville.
