MARCELLA (MADGE) MORAN SOLE, UNION, NEW JERSEY, FORMERLY OF PORTJERVIS, NEW YORK

Marcella (Madge) Moran Sole age 89, of Union, NJ passed away June 9, 2016 with her children at her side.  The daughter of Joseph and Mary Angela Bishop Moran, she was born and raised in Port Jervis, NY.

A devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother, Madge enjoyed travelling; especially time spent in Ireland and on frequent family vacations to Cape Cod and the Jersey shore.  She loved going to New York City from the time she was a teenager until the last few years. She shared warm memories of growing up in Port Jervis and loved reminiscing about her hometown with anyone familiar with it.  She had wonderful stories about her sisters and brother, her maternal grandmother taking her to buy baby chickens, high school dances and football games, swimming in the Navesink River, driving around “the horn”, the Flo Jean and Eddy Farm.

She loved weekend car rides with her daughters, especially in Fall, stopping for apples, ice cream and freshly baked pie.  Equally at home at the beach or in the country, she was a voracious reader, always with a book or newspaper on her beach chair.    With a love for music, Madge had an absolutely beautiful singing voice.  She loved all things Irish.

Retired from Chubb Insurance Company, she was an original and faithful member, for 50 years, of Holy Spirit R.C. Church in Union.  Marcella was married, for 37 years, to Robert Norman Sole, who predeceased her.  She is survived by her loving daughters Allison Lemmert of Union, NJ and Andrea Sole of New York, NY, several nieces and nephews and her cousins Nancy and John Vocci of Matamoras, PA and William Bishop of Ballston Lake, NY.  She thoroughly enjoyed, and looked forward to, her many phone calls and visits from her nieces Nancy Sheil Popp and Ann Loux Kavanaugh.  Marcella was predeceased by her sisters Janice, Betty, Sally and her brother Edward.

A mass of Christian burial was held June 14th at St. Mary’s R.C. Church with Rev. Matthew Newcomb as celebrant.  Internment took place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY, 12771
