Roberta L. Caldropoli, age 82, of Matamoras, Pennsylvania and formerly of Sparrowbush, NY passed away October 29, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on July 7, 1938 in the Bronx, New York. She was also a long time resident of Yonkers, New York, where she raised her family and was involved in the CYO Program. Roberta was one of the founders of the CYO Kitchen cooking up her infamous meatballs that were sold at the CYO basketball games. She is the daughter of the late Nicola and Caroline Federico Cacchione. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis. Roberta married Richard R. Caldropoli who survives at home, with their loving dog Ginger. She is also survived by her two daughters, Carol Ann Chach and her husband Greg of Mahopac, NY, Nicole O’Connor and her companion Jonathan Laguna of Milford, PA., her three sons, Richard Caldropoli and his wife Antonietta DiLella of Tarrytown, NY, Joseph Caldropoli and his wife Caroline of Leland, NC, Louis Caldropoli and his wife Lina of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, her beloved 13 grandchildren; Christopher and his wife Rebecca, Anthony, Mark, Julia, Rebecca, Jonathan, Danielle, Stephanie, Ericka, Orlando and his wife Sherry, Nadine and her husband Matthew, Louis II, Isabella, her beloved 7 great grandchildren; Aubrey, Ryan, Teagan, Caelan, Maddox, Mia and Mason, several nieces and nephews. Edward Michael Chuckran, Sr. age 84 of Port Jervis, NY passed away October 25, 2020 at Garnet Health in Middletown, NY. He was born on July 20, 1936 in Coaldale Pennsylvania and grew up in Lansford, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Andrew I. and Pauline Gaydos Chuchran. Ed attended St. Michaels Parochial school and participated in C.Y.O. basketball. He was allowed to attend Lansford High School at the request of his cousin, Dr. Jack Chuchran, a coach, to enable him to play sports. In high school Ed played football, basketball, track, and American Legion baseball. He attended North Carolina State on a football offer. He became injured and returned home and joined the US Army. His Army duty started at Camp Gordon, and then he was transferred to Fort Carson,Colorado, where he also participated with the track team. He attended Cryptology School and was stationed at the 5th Army headquarters until his discharge. He attained the rank of an SP4, Sig C, USAR. Upon his discharge from the Army he married his high school sweetheart, Hannah Sneddon, whom he borrowed from his Thanksgiving Day football rivalry, Coaldale High School. They were married on August 23, 1958 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, celebrating 62 years. He enrolled at the East Stroudsburg University shortly after the wedding. Upon graduation he started his career with the Port Jervis School District and taught for over thirty years, until his retirement. His first years teaching he coached Cross Country with a great team. He traveled to Watertown for thee State Championships. He coached junior varsity football with Ronnie Moyer and track with Gordy Short. He was inducted to the Carbon County PA, Area Sports Hall of Fame, May 28, 2006. He was a faithful member and enjoyed being an usher at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis, a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Assoc., a member of the Deerpark Seniors, and the Golden Age Club. He enjoyed working the voting polls for the Port Jervis school board and the Orange County Board of Elections. He enjoyed watching the Steelers, watching his sons participate in sports, seeing his son Dan inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in Nazareth, as the first male tennis player. He enjoyed going to the US Open, family vacations at Rockport, Mass., and his favorite pastime was keeping an eye on his wife Hannah. Ed’s sons were his greatest joy. He is survived by his ”forever" wife Hannah Sneddon Chuckran at home, his sons, Edward M. Chuckran, Jr, David Paul Chuckran, both of Port Jervis, Daniel Chuckran and his wife Kristin of Warwick, NY. He is also survived his daughter-in-law, Julie Quick Chuckran, his beloved grandchildren; Kyle Chuckran, Hannah Tuttle, Troy, Nicholas, Avery Jane, and Eva Grace Chuckran, his beloved great grandchildren; Teagen and Marley Tuttle, Hazel Chuckran, the Burghardt nieces and nephews and their spouses, his goddaughter Irene Burghardt Hauge, aunts, uncles, cousins. Edward was pre-deceased by his by his loved ones, his son, Thomas J. Chuckran, his sister Cecilia Burghardt, his brother Joseph Chuckran, his brother-in-law Robert Burghardt, his mother and father-in law, Evan Reese and Sadie Spade Sneddon. Dolores “Dee” Hodges age 70 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Garnet Health, Middletown, NY. Dee fought a courageous battle with melanoma. She was born on May 11, 1950 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Herbert and Lucy Andriack Ulrichs. Dee owned and operated 3-2-1- Building Co. in New Paltz, NY. She led a life of service to others and was always willing to help anyone in need. Dee is survived by several cousins including Thomas Rombousek of Sparrowbush, her goddaughter, Jay Armstrong of Sparrowbush, her dear friend Sally Martin, for whom she has devoted her past many years as her caregiver. She was pre-deceased by her sister Lucy M. Basta, who also died of cancer less than a year ago and Cathera Lane, a devoted friend. She was born on March 20, 1929 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Raymond and Irene Eck Guinn. She retired as a seamstress from Barbara Quilting, Inc., in Port Jervis. She married Ralph Fuller who pre-deceased her in 1984. Robert E. Curtis, Sr. age 89 of Matamoras, PA, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was born on February 4, 1931 in Matamoras, Pennsylvania the son of the late Frank and Hattie Cron Curtis. Robert married Mary “Joyce” Trovei Curtis on May 29, 1960, celebrating 60 years of marriage. He loved his family, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and Notre Dame football. As a young man, Henry was employed by Grand Union and Kaplan & Lipman before working as a cutter and driver for Barbara Quilting in Port Jervis until its closure. He also worked for the City of Port Jervis at the Municipal Building before retiring as the head custodian at Bicentennial Elementary School of the PJSD.Henry was a life-long member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church and a 50-plus year life member of the Port Jervis Volunteer Fire Department, serving as past treasurer for Rescue & Salvage Hose Co.#3. In his younger days, Henry played softball, catching for the hose company, and supplying the beer afterwards; and he also bowled for them a little, too. As an uncle, “Uncle Junie” provided his nephews a life-long love of both train travel and model railroading by building his own Lionel train layouts, and subsequently, helping them to build their own. The Erie RR was a part of the family.Henry, fondly known as Junior to many, was among the last of the true baseball fans, favoring the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Yankees, and Mets, as well as the San Francisco Giants after their move from New York. He was a die-hard Young and the Restless fan, always chuckling at Victor’s outlandish schemes. Henry loved dabbling in radios, photography, and film, and later in life, became a world traveler with his niece and her husband. He was also a self-sufficient carpenter, building anything & everything. Henry always enjoyed co-piloting driving excursions with Barry, his adopted nephew, and was an excellent grocery cart-boy and pizza-runner!Henry lived his entire life on Brown Street in the house his grandparents purchased when they came to America. He was a member of the Acre Snowball Gang and could always be found eating sausage & peppers at the Hose Co. #3 booth at the Mt. Carmel carnival. His neighbor, Sonya, says he was here on Brown St. longer than all of us. He watched us grow up, and then, ours grow up. He has and will be missed. A true Acre boy.Henry is sadly missed by his only niece, Kathleen Ott Weiss, and her husband, Barry, of Syracuse, NY, and several cousins, including Patricia & William Gill of Henderson, NV. Peg was a cashier for the Delaware Valley School District and retired as a school bus driver for the district. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening as well as her many picnics and camping adventures with her children and grandchildren. Peg is survived by her son, Darwyn Moon of Milford, PA, and her two daughters; Robyn Wiltse and her husband John of Milford, PA; Cheryl Gunnels and her husband Robert of East Stroudsburg, PA; her 10 beloved grandchildren; Melisa, Eric, Rebecca and Kyle Moon, Chad, and Corey Wiltse, Erika Schuller, Andrew and Faith Gunnels and Grace Garcia; 20 beloved great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth J. Feighner age 94 of Montague, New Jersey passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at her home. She was born on June 4, 1926 in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of William and Iva Wise Zink. Ruth owned and operated Greenstone Ceramics in Midland Park, New Jersey for many years. After graduating from college Ruth went to work for Continental Oil Co. in Ponca, Oklahoma. She was a translator for the company working with French, German and Russian Patents. She was an active member of the Ponca Garden Club and the Ponca Rock and Mineral Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Ponca Bridge Club. Ruth married George Feighner, Sr., who pre-deceased her on November 3, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Diane Libby and her husband Terrance Myers of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Rurh is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Tracy Lindsay and her husband Timothy and Jeffrey Libby, her two great grandchildren, Kelly Lindsay and Timothy Lindsay, Jr., several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her two two sons, George Feighner, Jr. and Eric Feighner, two brothers, Roland and “Bud” Zink, and her sister Elaine Pretzer. In his earlier years he worked for The Delaware Sand & Gravel Co, in Port Jervis and Country Redi-Mix in Slate Hill, and most recent for Maybrook Materials, Inc. in Maybrook, New York. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1967. He was a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks #645, B.P.O.E., The Red Rock Hunting Club and a member of Hose Co. #5, Port Jervis Fire Dept. Recently you may have seen Tom driving around town in his Ford Ranger truck with his best buddy Buck, his beloved Beagle. He is survived by his son Thomas J. McCreery, Jr and his wife Barbara of Wurtsboro, NY, his daughter Dawn McCreery Noble-Strauch of Silver Springs, Nevada. He is also survived by his sister Sally McCreery of Conway, South Carolina, his two brothers, Michael McCreery and his wife Jan of Surprise, Arizona, William McCreery and his wife Marsha of Port Jervis. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Nickolas Noble, Samantha Gale and her husband Matt, Kyle McCreery, Emily McCreery, and several nieces and nephews. Tom was pre-deceased by his brother Joseph McCreery. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM, Tuesday, October 6th at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Amy Garrett will officiate. Due to COVID Restrictions, social distancing and masks will be mandatory. There will be a limited number of people allowed in at a given time. Internment will be private.
