Richard C. Aidala, Matamoras, Pennsylvania

Richard C. Aidala of Matamoras, PA passed away at home in the arms of his wife with his loving daughters at his sideRich was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Richard Aidala and the late Jean Puma Aidala.

Rich served in the Army Reserves as a corpsman working in the VA Hospital in Bronx, NY.  He served paraplegics returningfrom Vietnam.  After the reserves, Rich worked as a civilian for the US Navy as a projectionist.  Rich then opened two movietheaters of his own, St. Marks Cinema in NYC and Park Slope Cinema in Park Slope, Brooklyn.  After selling the theaters,Rich built his dream home from the ground up, a log cabin in Shohola, PA.  Always dreaming of owning a restaurant, Rich and his two partners then opened Lido Bar & Restaurant on Restaurant Row in New York City.  For the past 26 years, Rich worked for the Museum of the Moving Image as Chief Projectionist and Audio Visual  Technician.  He was considered a master at his craft, which reflects how he lived his life.  

Rich was a very intelligent, caring, loving man who doted on his wife and three daughters. He married the girl next door and theycame come close to celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary.   His girls were his pride and joy  and did not compare to any of his other life achievements.  Nothing gave him more pleasure than cooking for his girls.  His kitchen was a diner where he whipped up anything requested at any time.  Friends and family never left  hungry when leaving the Aidala home.  Rich loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.  He loved being on the water whether it was the Delaware River, Montauk, theOuterbanks, or the Jersey Shore.  He always had a fishing pole ready.

Rich is survived by his wife, Jayne Adamo-Aidala and his three daughters, Rachele A. Aidala of Brooklyn, NY, Aimee A. Aidala of Philadelphia, PA and Christina A. Aidala, of Matamoras, PA.  Rich also leaves behind his sister Suzanne J.Erbe and her husband Dave of Emmaus, PA, his sister-in-law, Kathryn A. Levy of Milford, PA, his brother-in-law, Vincent J.Adamo and his wife Debbie of Palenville, NY and his sister-in-law Laura A. Dustin of Chicago, IL.  Rich leaves behind his nephews David Erbe,  Andrew Levy and his wife Deanna, Joshua Dustin, John Adamo, and David Dustin.  Rich also leaves behind his nieces Kristin Young and her husband Brian,Karyn Gouger and her husband Christopher, Elayna Levy, and his Goddaughter Sarah Adamo.  Rich is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Dalton and Adyson Young, Jonathan and Emily Gouger, and Ethan and Taylor Levy.  Rich also leaves behind his brother-in-friendship and fishing buddy, PaulDilger and his wife Cindy of Shohola.

Rich was a lifetime member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 306 and the Knights of Columbus, Council 4541.  Friends may call Wednesday, August 21 from 2-4 and 7- 9 PM  at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc.,  154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Prayers will be offered  Thursday morning at 10:15 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA.  Rev. James Walsh will be the celebrant.  Interment will follow at Milford Cemetery, Milford, PA .   Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E.
