MARION MEAD COLE, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK
Marion Mead Cole age 92 passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at her home in the presence of her family. She was born in Port Jervis on October 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Earl F. Mead, Sr. and Regina O'Hara Mead and lived in Sparrowbush for the past 45 years. Marion married Donald R. Cole on September 26, 1953 who pre-deceased her on March 11, 1998.
She is survived by her three children, Donna L. Lombardo of Port Jervis, Janet M. Young and her husband William of Barryville, NY and Robert P. Cole of Cliffside Park, New Jersey, three grandchildren Brad Joseph and Lisa Marion Lombardo and Regina Catherine Young. Marion is also survived by her sisters, Eleanor Cuddeback and her husband William of Tucson, Arizona and Rita Colaiaco of Matamoras, PA her sister-in-law Eleanor Mead of Saranac Lake, NY, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and several cousins. She was pre-deceased by her sister Catherine Pflanz and her husband Charles, her brother Earl F. Mead, Jr., her brother-in-law Alteo Colaiaco and her son-in-law Joseph M. Lombardo.
Marion was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, in Port Jervis and she was a woman with great faith and devotion to her religion.
She worked in retail at JJ Newberry's Variety Store, then as a bookkeeper for Crescent Silverplate Factory and ultimately partnered with her husband Don in owning and operating Krauss Photo Service from 1961 to 1988, where among many roles she managed the finances and worked on photofinishing. Above all Marion was most proud of raising and taking care of her family.
Mom, known to most as Nana, was the hub of our family and was the source of all news, whether it was a first tooth or the current national news. Mom enjoyed her photographs, her beautiful collection of music and time at the lake. She loved gardening, crafts, and traveling, whether it would be a local jaunt or visiting multiple European countries. She loved to hike and enjoyed and appreciated all nature from the sound of a babbling brook to the glory of a single autumn leaf. She found beauty in everything and everyone she saw and was a very caring and loving person. She was very insightful and had a knack for imparting simple yet astoundingly wise guidance. She was not only a mother but a best friend to her kids. Mom lived for the love of her family and will be deeply missed.

FRANK C. ELLISON, JR., MONTAGUE, NEW JERSEY
Frank C. Ellison, Jr. age 79 of Montague, New Jersey, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Barnhill Health Care Facility, New ton, New Jersey. He was born on September 5, 1933 in the Town of Deerpark, New York, the son of the late Frank C. Ellison, Sr. and Martha Demerest Ellison. Frank proudly served our counrty with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Montague and a 50 year member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept., Hose Co. #6. He worked as a cable splicer for G.T.E., telephone company in Port Jervis. Frank married Agnes Cooper Ellison, who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Cherelyn Ellison and her companion, Bill Mills of Port Jervis, 2 sisters, Janet Cherry of Port Jervis and Anna Petitti and her husband Julio of Port Jervis and several nieces and nephews. HERBERT DeROSE, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK
Herbert DeRose of Sparrowbush,New York entered into rest unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2012. He was 79 years old.
Son of the late Walter and Elva (Carlock) DeRose, he was born April 10, 1933 in Paterson, NJ.
Herb was a union carpenter, working for many different area contractors before retiring with Zitone Construction. He was a member of Smokey Ridge Hunting Club, Sparrowbush. He was an active member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church and it’s Men’s Club. Herb enjoyed woodworking, hunting, camping, doing his puzzles, baking muffins and most importantly spending time with his beloved family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lois Babcock DeRose, his four sons, Dennis and his wife Carla of Middletown, Greg and his wife Sue of Sparrowbush, Keith and his wife Holly of Kentucky, Brian and his wife Kathy of Slate Hill; his daughter Laurie and her husband Arnold of Allen, Texas. He is further survived by his nine grandchildren, Mireille, Michelle, Michael, Nicole, Kristi, Joe, Ashley, Amber and Antonio and four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Lucas, Diego and Michael. He is also survived by one brother, Hank and his wife Betty of Tennessee, two sisters, Marion Miller and her husband Ed of Connecticut and Lois DeRose and her husband Percy of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by several beloved sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, Judy Hoover of Port Jervis, Sue and Dana King of Circleville, Floyd Babcock and Dawn Amato of Sparrowbush,and Al Hoover of the State of Florida, in addition to several nieces, nephews and many beloved friends. He was predeceased by one brother Robert DeRose and three sisters, Marge Matthews, Evelyn Blamey and Dorothy Marion.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24 at the funeral home, with a private burial to be held at the convenience of the family.

Catherine Young Shields, age 86 of Milford, Pennsylvania, formerly of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Middletown, NY. She was born on May 27, 1926 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Leta Liebla Young. Catherine was for Dr. Parvis Javdan in Middletown, NY. In earlier years she worked for St. Francis Hospital and Doctor's Sunnyside Hospital in Port Jervis. She was an active member, served on the Vestry and was Senior Warden of Grace Episcopal Chuch in Port Jervis. Catherine married Charles Vincent Shields, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Denise Aber-Ramsey of Scottsdale, Arizona, Fern Lutfy of Milford, Pa., Jeanne Geiger of Matamoras, and Susan Shields Davis of New Hampton, 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Jeffrey, Elaine, Jennifer, Steven and Matthew, 5 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Rozlin, aila and Brody. A Mass of Ressurection was held Monday, October 22, at 11AM at the Grace Episcopal Church, Port Jervis. Rev. Dvid Lee Carlson officiated. Margaret H. Sutton age 91 of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was born on August 27, 1921 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late James and Clara Titman Greenhalgh. Margaret was a retired glass packer for Gillinder Brothers Glass Co., in Port Jervis. She was a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis, NY. Margaret married Stanley H. Sutton, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ramsy and her husband William of Port Jervis, her granddaughter, Heather Trotta and her husband Mark of Huguenot, NY, her grandson, Shaun Ramsay and his wife Jennifer of Senoia, Georgia, 5 great grandchildren, Steven and Olivia Trotta, Avery Ramsay, Miles Sutton Ramsay and Parker Grace Ramsay, 2 nephews, Jeffrey and Randy Sinley. KENNETH "KEN" THORNTON, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
Kenneth "Ken" Thornton, age 76 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at his home. He was born on April 15, 1936 in Vernon, New Jersey, the son of the late Kenneth and Almedia Martin Thornton. Ken proudly served our country with the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958. He worked for 36 years as a master card cutter for the American Silk Label Mfg. Co. in Unionville, NY. He then worked as a maintenance mechanic for the Minisink Valley School System for ten years and for the City of Port Jervis Nutrition Program for 10 years. A family statement read " Dad was a very hardworking and caring man, who loved his family and friends. He was an deer hunter and enjoyed the outdoors." He married Florence A. Comiskey Thornton, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Daniel Thornton of Round Top,Texas, Mark Thornton and his wife Donna of Matamoras, Pa., his daughter, Lori Acton and her husband Bill of Sparrowbush, NY, his sister, Rose Thornton of Port Jervis, his brother Terry Thornton and his wife Arlene of Dingmans Ferry, Pa. 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Prospect Grange, Matamoras, Pa. and the Neversink Valley Grange, Huguenot, New York. REV. ARTHUR ROY CHRISTENSEN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
Rev. Arthur Roy Christensen
On Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the age of 75 Rev. Arthur Roy Christensen went from Kaplan Hospice House in Newburgh, NY to his eternal home with his savior Jesus Christ, after a six year battle with acute leukemia.
Born April 17, 1937 in Jamaica-Queens, NY, the son of the late Jacob and Gudrun Hansen Christensen. He was a graduate of Barrington College and Gordon-Conwell Seminary. On July 25, 1959 he married his best friend and love of his life, Joan (Elms). He served as a pastor in, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York. He retired from First Baptist Church of Port Jervis, New York in 1992. He was elected to the Conservative Baptist Association national board of directors. Even in retirement, his life-long passion for pastoring led him to serve in several interim pastoral positions as well as preaching while wintering in Leesburg, FL and while at home in Port Jervis, even as recently as July of this year.
He leaves behind his very beloved wife Joan and their three greatly loved sons and their families: Stephen Christensen and his wife Alison of Windham, New Hampshire, Tom Christensen and his wife Donna of Matamoras, Pa., and Tim Christensen and his wife Julie of British Columbia, Canada, his brother, Rev. Dr. Jack Christensen and his wife Edna of Swannanoa, NC, 6 Grandchildren, Eric, Greg & Luke, Andrew, Alex and Nathan Christensen. His brother-in-law The Rev. Ashley Peckham; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Aubrey & Betty Elms and sister-in-law Gerry Elms; his nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by the numerous people whom he served over his 54 years of ordained pastoral ministry. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Marie Tansi and Elinor Peckham.
Visiting hours will be Monday, October 15 from 10:00 – 11:30 at The First Baptist Church of Port Jervis at 34 E. Main St., followed by a celebration service at 11:30 at the First Baptist Church. Rev. James Brosius will officiate. Following the service there will be a time of repast, fellowship and refreshments for all. Funeral arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc, 154 E. PERCY E. STORMS, SUSSEX, NEW JERSEY
Percy E. Storms, age 92 of Sussex, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Barnhill Care Ctr., in Newton, New Jersey. He was born on December 3, 1919 in Glenwood, New Jersey, the son of the late John and Hannah Drake Storms. He proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army. Percy retired from Picatinny Arsenal at Picatinny, NJ. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Port Jervis and was a member of the American Legion Post in Sussex. He was best known for his strong passion and and extensive collection of tools. If someone needed any type of tool, they knew Percy would have it. Percy married Minnie E. Fountain Storms, who survives at home. . He is also survived by his daughter, Pricilla Gould and her husband Jonathan of Sparrowbush, NY, 4 grandchildren, Denise Gould Hulse and her husband Douglas, Michele Fontana and her husband Scott, Raymond Storms and his wife Susan and Thomas E. Storms, 5 Great grandchildren, Dylan, Nicholas, Darick, Rebecca, and Scott M., his daughter-in-law Carol Storms of Port Jervis and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Edward J. RICHARD E. GEORGI, JONES, OKLAHOMA AND WESTFALL TOWNSHIP, PA.
Richard E. Georgi, 59, of Jones, Ok. and Westfall Township, Pa. went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2012. He is the son of the late Ernest L. Georgi and Shirley Teachman Georgi, who survives. He is survived by his mother, Shirley M. Georgi; of Johnson City, NY formerly of Matamoras, PA.; his wife SunCha Georgi of Jones, Ok.; his daughter Janet Olson of Wellston, OK.; his son Erik Georgi of Okmulgee TX. and five grandchildren of Okmulgee, TX. Richard is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Kathleen M. Walsh and William R. Walsh of Endwell, N.Y., and their son Tristan Hinkley of Annapolis, MD. He is also survived by his former wife Elizabeth Zaleski of Odessa, TX. , many cousins and friends, as well as his beloved dogs that he raised with his wife SunCha. He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Guido and Myrtle Georgi and his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Christin Teachman.
Richard graduated from Delaware Valley High School where he competed with the wrestling team and enjoyed gymnastics. After school and weekends he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and grandfather. Although Richard never played football or basketball, he was an avid fan of the Oklahoma University football team and the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. Richard proudly served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force traveling all around the world, serving in Vietnam, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Korea, finally settling in OKlahoma.
Richard loved his family, friends, all of his dogs, nature and life in general. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by any who knew him.
He has chosen to donate his body to research in hopes of helping to find a cure for cancer and helping find a cure for other debilating diseases.
The family is suggesting in lieu of flowers to consider a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Richard.

CONRAD R. SCHOCK, JR., MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA
Conrad R. Schock, Jr. "The Engineer", age 83, of Matamoras, PA., passed into the arms of his savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 27, 1929 in Port Jervis, NY. He is the son of the late Conrad R. Schock, Sr. And Clara Fick Schock. He was a lifetime member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645 B.P.O.E. Matamoras Rod & Gun Club, NRA, and the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons # 328 F &AM. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and the D & H Square Dancing. Conrad was a self-employed excavator for Ellie's Transit out of Matamoras, PA. He was a lover of Life and the Lord who created it. He was a great Teacher with the Patience of a Saint. He had a passion for "How things worked" and a great trouble shooter, an unbelievable High-Tech Excavator, who could fix anything but only," perfectly". He loved to have fun, to dance, to sing and laugh with those who would share his laughter. He was God Loving and would do or give to those in need before he would take anything for himself. He loved and provided for his family and in the tough times he would never give up, always with God on his shoulder He prevailed.His Love and Care for his wife was a great example for his children. Joyce E. Aumick, age 80, of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday September 30, 2012 at Osprey Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Carbondale, Penna. She was born on August 29, 1932 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Isabelle Dunlap Aumick and Wilhelmina Heater Aumick, who she knew as Mom. Joyce was a retired beautician and owner of Joyce's Beauty Salon in Matamoras. She is survived by her 2 sisters, Rayola Warne and her husband Bill of the State of Florida and Laura Krause and her husband Norman of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews. Frances A. Lovelace, age 97 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday September 30, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. She was born on June 13, 1915 in the Town of Greenville, NY, the daughter of the late Theodore and Victoria Gombowski Baytale. Frances was a retired seamstress for Andmore Sportswear, Inc., in Port Jervis. A family statement read" Frances was a woman of deep faith, with endless devotion to her children grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a cancer survivor and her strong will to overcome obstacles throughout her life was a testimony to her longevity. Her family would like to send a special thank you to Father Vincent, Sister Rosemary, the administration, nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Place for their compassionate and loving long time care." Frances married Clarence L. Lovelace , who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her 3 sons, James Lovelace of Milford, Pa. Leonard R. Sampson, age 89 of Matamoras, Penna., passed away Sunday September 30, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 22, 1923 in Barksdale, Wisconsin, the son of the late Carl and Hilda Rowe Sampson. Leonard proudly served our country with the U.S Army Air Force during WW II. He was a member of St. Peter's Luthern Church in Port Jervis, the Matamoras Rod & Gun Club, the Fontenalis Fly Fishing Club, the D& H Dancers and the Port Jervis Men's Bowling League. He was also an avid Nascar fan. Leonard graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Madison), earning his BA in Chemistry. He retired from Kolmar Labs, Inc., as a chemist. Leonard married Eunice Hoffman on September 3,1950 and celebrated 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Eunice, at home, his daughter, Karen Meyer and her husband Albert of Milford, Pa., his son Ronald Sampson and his wife Kathy of Bremerton, Washington, 3 grandchildren, Amy Dufour and her husband David, Chelsea Rasmussen and her husband Josh, and Corbit Sampson, 1 nephew and 3 nieces. Marion E. Gatti, age 95 of Rutland, Vermont, formerly of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at St. Joseph's Kervick's Residence in Rutland. Marion had also lived in Scarsdale and Montauk, NY for many years. She was born in Manhattan, NY on July 8, 1917 , the daughter of the late Michael and Bina Mulcahy Eagan. Marion was a retired telephone operator for AT& T in New York City, NY. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis, and the Port Jervis Senior Citizens. Marion also worked as a desk clerk for the Eddy Farm Hotel, in Sparrowbush, NY. Marion married Nino Gatti, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her 2 daughters-in-laws, Mary Gatti of Wells, Vermont and Joan Rae of Kirkwood, NY, 6 grandchildren, Nino, Michele, Christopher, Kim, Mario and Katie, 5 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Michael, Kaila, Olivia and Dylan, her nephews, Bernard Gatti and his wife Maryann of Montague, NJ, Rudy Gatti and his wife Mary Ellen of Connecticut, and her niece Valerie Rock of Montague. She was pre-deceased by her 3 sons, Nino P. Gatti, Christopher Gatti and Michael Gatti, and her daughter-in-law Debbie Gatti.
