August "Chris" DeCristoforo Jr., Port Jervis, New York

August "Chris" DeCristoforo Jr., a foreman of New Jersey Transit, Port Jervis and longtime area resident, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at his home. He was 59.

The son of August DeCristoforo Sr. and the late Edith Meschino DeCristoforo, he was born August 30, 1947 in the Bronx.

He was a US Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War.

A family statement reads, "Chris was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him."

Survivors include his wife at home, Eleanor Sickles DeCristoforo; his father, August DeCristoforo Sr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Michael DeCristoforo of Bethesda, Md.; four daughters, Dianna Guacci and husband Anthony of Selden, N.Y., Amber Bedell and husband John of Chestertown, Md., Maryellen Mattot of Las Vegas, Nev. and Joann Carbone of West Palm, Fla.; one sister, Edith DeCristoforo of Lakeville, Pa.; one stepson Harry E. Williams and his fiancée Kelly of Port Jervis; three stepdaughters, Ginni Gushue and her fiance, John of Sparrowbush, Kathleen Williams her fiancé Gabriel of Port Jervis, Elizabeth Williams and her fiancé Pat of New Tripoli, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; four nieces.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main Street., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Andville, Pa.

Contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
