JOHN H, GALVIN, MATAMORAS , PENNSYLVANIA
John H. Galvin age 75 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1940 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the Late John G. Galvin and Edna Keener Galvin Ricciardi. John proudly served our country with the US Army during the Viet Nam War. He worked for many years as a weigh master for Kolmar Labs, Inc in Port Jervis. After his retirement John worked for the Pike County Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Milford, PA. He was an avid chess player and was a member of the United States Chess Federation. John served as a councilman for the Borough of Matamoras. He was a member of the Devore-Quinn American Legion Post #486 in Matamoras. John married Ann M. Perry who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his two sons, Steven Galvin of Port Jervis, John Galvin and his wife Lisa of Chambersburg, PA, his daughter Mary Snyder and her husband Keith of Lacona, NY, his grandchildren, John, Alexis, Rebecca and Samantha, his brother-in-law William Perry of Port Jervis, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother James Galvin. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28 from 11am-1PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Vincent Odikanoro will officiate. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis. Caroline V. Belasco age 93 of Newburgh, NY passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Newburgh, NY. She was born on September 5, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Mazzula Nucci. Carol was a faithful member of Sacred Heart RC Church , Newburgh, NY and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She married Daniel “Bibi” Belasco who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her two sons Daniel M. Belasco, Jr of Milton, NY and George L.F. Belasco of Newburgh, her granddaughter Victoria Belasco of Newburgh, several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Leo and Louis Nucci and her two sisters Victoria Maniscalco and Marie Nucci. Prayers will be offered Thursday, August 27 at 10:15 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. A Mass of Chistian Burial will be held Thursday, August 27 at 12 Noon at Sacred Heart RC Church, Newburgh, NY. Rev. Andrew Kurzyna will be the celebrant. CLIFFORD "JERRY" SPACE, , JR., HUGUENOT, NEW YORK
Clifford "Jerry" Space,Jr. age 85 of Huguenot, NY passed away peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home. Jerry was born on November 16, 1929 in Port Jervis, the son of Clifford L. Space, Sr. and Evelyn Spear Space. He lived on the same property for 85 and worked on the family farm until his farming accident. He went to work as a mechanic for the Port Jervis School District Bus Garage. He enjoyed motorcycles, tractors and anything that engaged a motor. His mechanical knowledge enabled him to repair almost everything. Most of all he loved his wife Lee, whom he married on January 1, 1977 and their beloved blended family. He is survived by his wife Lee Couch Space at home, his sons Harry I. Space, II and his wife Cathy of Montague, NJ, Rusty Space and his wife Doreen of Huguenot, his daughters, Cheryl Kendall of State of Florida, Dorothy Van Horn of Huguenot, Jamie Swingle and her husband Jerry of Sparrowbush, sons, James Van Horn and his wife Arlette of Huguenot, Clint Van Horn and his wife Charlotte of Sparrowbush, 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. his brother-in-law Douglas Couch of Middletown, his sisters-in-law Robin Zavacky and her husband Michael of Pen Argyle, PA, and Nancy Kliokis of PA. He was pre-deceased by his son Thomas Van Horn, daughter-in-law Cathy Van Horn and a sister-in-law Cathy Couch. Services will be private. Internment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huguenot Fire Dept., 431, Route 209, Huguenot, NY 12746. Elfriede L. Conklin, age 88, of Milford, PA and formerly of Port Jervis passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Milford Senior Care & Rehabilation Center in Milford, PA. She was born on November 10, 1926 in Stuttgart,Germany the daughter of the late Karl and Hedwig Louise Kurass Dreizler. Elfriede worked as a Home Health Aid and as a seamstress for Andmore Sportswear, Inc in Port Jervis. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Port Jervis, NY. Elfriede married Clifford Conklin who has pre-decased her. She is survived by her son, Daniel Conklin and his wife Victoria Rosario Conklin of Milford, PA, her sister, Laura Brehel of Germany, her brother Fritz Dreizler of Germany, her Grandson, Christopher Conklin of Milford, PA and her Grand-daughter Kelsey Conklin. CARLYLE W. KRAUSE, MATAMORAS , PENNSYLVANIA
Carlyle W. Krause age 91 of Matamoras, PA passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 28, 1923 in Matamoras, PA, the son of Paul K. and Wilhelmina Ferguson Krause. Carlyle proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star Medals. He was a faithful and life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Port Jervis and a former council member of the church. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Stairway Hunting Club in Millrift, PA. He was a member of the Milford Lodge of Masons, #344, F& AM, Milford, PA. Carlyle married Kathryn Ast Krause on October 10, 1953, celebrating sixty-one years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Kathryn at home, his son, Carl L. Krause and his wife Lorinda of Selinsgrove, PA, his daughter Kathy Brink and her husband Kurt of Milford, PA, three grandchildren, Alaric, Euric and Honoria Krause, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Paul, Charles, Leon, Ralph, Alvin, Lester and Herbert Krause, Leona VanGorden and Claire Ott, his step-mother Anna Marie Schumacher, by whom he was raised. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, from 10:00-11:30 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 31 West Main St., Port Jervis. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 AM at the church. Rev. James A. Dundon, Esq., age 86 of Matamoras, PA passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 Bon Secours Community Hosp., Port Jervis, NY He was born on September 1, 1928 in NYC, NY, the son of Patrick and Margaret Murphy Dundon. James proudly served our country during the Korean War with the US Navy. Jim worked as corporate attorney for Schering ,Plough, Merck Pharmaceuticals in Kenilworth, New Jersey. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's R. C. Church in Matamoras, PA. James married Patricia L. Schmucker Dundon who survives at home. He is also survived by his two sons, Gerard Dundon of Stroudsburg, PA, and John Schneller of Lincoln Park, NJ, five daughters, Deirdre Schoonmaker of Gettysburg, PA., Julianne Decker of Wayne, NJ, Marella Kaiser of Ridgewood, NJ, Laura Powers and her husband Glenn of Louisville, Kentucky, Jennifer Ripkey and her husband Chris of Olathe, Kansas, 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. James was pre-deceased by his son Paul Dundon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12 from 4-8 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home,154 E. Main St., Port Jervis,NY. Diana DeGraw age 83 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at Port Jervis, NY. She was born on June 8, 1932 in Matamoras, Pennsylvania the daughter of Dominick and Clara Daniels Caliciotti. Diana was a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, a sunday school teacher of the church and a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church Women. She married Richard J. DeGraw, Sr. on August 7,1955 celebrating 60 years of marriage. Diana is survived by her husband Richard at home, her two sons, Richard J. DeGraw, Jr of Sparrowbush, NY, Brian DeGraw and his wife Linda of Port Jervis, two sisters Kay Presto of Scranton, PA, Delores Prisco and her husband Sal of Matamoras, PA, her brother Victor Caliciotti of Sparrowbush, eight grandchildren, Trish Tigue and her husband Brian, Sheri DeGraw, Roseanne Adams and her husband John, Anthony DeGraw, Meghan Cummis and her husband Jeffrey, Brian Matthew DeGraw, Marah and Lili DeGraw, two great grandchildren, Evan and Kira, several nieces and nephews. Diana was pre-deceased by her sister Madeline Teachman and her sister-in-law Judy Caliciotti. Thomas Marks, Jr. age 70 of Milford, PA died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on March 17, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Thomas and Mary Marks. He was a retired police officer for the New York City Police Dept. Tom attended the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Matamoras, PA. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his Koi Pond filled with Koi fish at his home. Tom married Dianne Montemarano Marks who survives at home. He is also survived by his son Joseph Marks and his wife Dina of Staten Island, NY, his two daughters, Maryann Johnson and her husband Robert of Matamoras, Sharon Marks and Rob of Milford, PA, two sisters Frances Daly of the State of Florida and Doris Paciello of Tenn., 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Matthew, Joseph, Taylor, Nicholas, Brandon, Michael, Robbie and Kyle, three great grandchildren Austin, Aubrey, Aiden, several nieces and nephews. Tara P. Houck age 35 of Westbrookville, NY died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Port Jervis, NY. She was born on June 13, 1980 in Middletown, NY the daughter of John W. and Arlene Majka Houck. Tara helped many individuals working as a health care aid. She was a communicant of Holy Name R.C. Church in Otisville. Tara had a strong love for children and animals. She was always willing to help someone in need and was a friend to anyone who her knew her. She is survived by her parents John and Arlene Houck of Westbrookville, her three sisters, Valerie Houck of Barton, NY, Crystal Albanese and her husband Anthony of Candor, NY, Robin Houck and her companion Douglas Decker of Huguenot, NY, her nephews, Derek, Kevin, Ryan, Robert, Evan and her niece Brooke. Julius Daniel Smith, age 50, of Port Jervis, NY passed away July 30, 2015 at home. He was born on April 10, 1965 in Port Jervis, the son of William and Edith Hughes Smith, who survive. Julius was a member of Faith Tabernacle International Ministries in Port Jervis. He was a security officer for Jays Security & Armed Guard & Services in Port Jervis. He is also survived by his wife, Lara Natasha Garfman Smith of Port Jervis, 5 biological children: Desiree, Carrie-Ann, Julius Jr., James Michael, and Coleen; his sister: Pearl Gunderman of Parksville, NY; his brother: William Smith of Washingtonville, NY. Services were held on Monday August 3, 2015 at 11:00am at the Faith Tabernacle International Ministries of Port Jervis, NY. Pastor Shirley Ambroise-Geffrand officiated.
