JOHN M. DEWHURST, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
John M. Dewhurst age 86, of Port Jervis, NY passed away Thursday February 24, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on February 23, 1925 in Staten Island, NY, the son of the late John and Florence Crowley Dewhurst. John proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Merchant Marines. He retired from Local #25, Marine Division of the International Union of Operating Engineers in Manalapan, New Jersey. He was an active member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, who faithfully prayed the Rosary after each daily Mass. A family statement read" Dad was a devout Catholic, who was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. " John married Joan Campbell Dewhurst who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his 3 sons, John Dewhurst of Bethlehem, Pa., Robert Dewhurst and his wife Patricia of Staten Island, NY and Michael Dewhurst and his wife Christine of Port Jervis. He is also survived by his sister, Lousita Tuck of Baltimore, MD., 7 grandchildren, James, Meghan, Kristina, Robert, Julia, Joseph and Jesse and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his 3 sister and 1 brother.

MADELINE C. TEACHMAN, MATAMORAS, PA.
Madeline C. Teachman age 81, of Matamoras, Penna. passed away Monday February 21, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was born on November 4, 1929 in Matamoras, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Dominick and Clara Daniels Caliciotti. Madeline was a retired Bookkeeper for the Tri-State Gazette in Port Jervis. She was an active member and Sunday School Teacher of the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis. Madeline was Past President and Secretary of the Business and Professional Woman of Port Jervis, and was named Woman of the Year in 1992. She was a member, Past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Westfall Fire Dept.; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, and the Marsh-Kellogg American Legion, Milford, Pa.; Past President of the Matamoras Senior Citizens, member of the A.A.R.P. and past member of the Delaware Valley School Board. Madeline married Robert L. Teachman, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn L. Brue and her fiancé Robin Laird of Matamoras, Pa., her brother Victor Caliciotti and his wife Judy of Sparrowbush, 3 sisters, Diana DeGraw and her husband Richard of Port Jervis, Catherine Presto of Matamoras, Pa., and Delores Prisco and her husband Salvatore of Matamoras, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law Charles Presto .

Myra J. Southard age 60 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday February 20, 2011 at her home. She was born on July 31, 1950 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy Blackmore Pratt. Myra was a retired private Nurse's Aid and also retired from the housekeeping department at Milford Senior Care, Westfall Twshp, Penna. A family statement read " Mom loved playing Bingo and watching Game shows on TV. She was and avid Yankees and Stock Car Racing Fan. She married Earl Southard, who pre-deceased her. Myra is survived by her son Timothy Southard of Port Jervis, her daughter, Wendy Smith of Slate Hill, NY, 3 sisters, Patti, Sheila and Betty Pratt, 4 brothers, Richard, Earl, Mike and Ronald Pratt, 4 grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Timothy, Theresa and Anthony Southard, 1 great grand daughter, Kaelyn Smith and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her long time friends Ethel Shaalan and Michael Stefinsky and her pet cat "Socks" A.K.A. "Winkey". She was pre-deceased by her daughter Hope.

Thomas Lovett Hughes, Jr., age 51, of Cuddebackville, NY passed away Friday February 18, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital,, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on October 16, 1959 in Miami, Florida, the son of the late Thomas L. Hughes, Sr. and JoAnn Short Hughes. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Trishia Hughes of Miami, Flordida, Elizabeth Hughes and Patricia Hughes both of Cuddebackville, NY, and his son, Thoamd Hughes, III of Cuddebackville. His 3 sisters, Vicki Jacqmein of Miami. Florda, Jodi Slavens of Warrensburg, Ill. and Terry Duncan of Lake Placid, florida, 4 grand daughters, Ionna, Iceiz, Laveah and Katrina and several nieces and nephews. Thomas is also survived by his former wife Elaine Hughes of Miami, Florida. He was pre-deceased by his brother Timothy Hughes. JOHN P. SIGRETO, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
John P. Sigreto age 86 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday February 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on February 8, 1925 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Peter B. Sigreto and Martha Stellato Sigreto. He married Anna M. Rybak Sigreto, who pre-deceased him in 2007. John was a retired Electrician for the Dept. of Environmental Protection, NYC, NY at the Water Filtration Plant in Port Jervis, NY. He proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Marines, 4th Div. He served in conflicts at Saipan,Tinian, and Iwo Jima. One of the proudest days in John's life was witnessing the raising of the US Flag over Iwo Jima. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, Knights of Columbus Council #471, Port Jervis, a life time member of the 4th Marine Division Association, Tri-State Naval Ship #7241,, Roosa-Fleming V.F. W. Post #161, Past President and 64 yr. member of Fowler Rescue & Salvage Co. #3, Port Jervis Fire Dept.
He is survived by his son, Peter J. Sigreto and his wife Marilyn of Matamoras, Pa., his daughter Sue Weymer and her husband John of Port Jervis, his sister, Angie Butterfield and her husband Gordon of Goshen, NY, his grandchildren, Edward, Andrea and Jesse Gavalla, Kevin, Steven and Craig Weymer, his great grandchildren, Charlotte Marina Muniz, Brady and Jacob Weymer. He is also survived by his beloved pet buddy, Barney. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary Mager, and his beloved pets, Bernie and Paulie.

CLAUDE V. SCHOONOVER, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
Claude V. Schoonover age 78 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Thursday February 17, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on July 12, 1932 in Matamoras, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Claude and Margaret DeGroat Schoonover. Claude proudly served our country during the Korean War with the U. S. Army. He was a retired carpenter for Frank Ast Construction Co., in Matamoras, Penna. He was very creative and an expert wood craftsman, he would make many different wooden toys for children and found great pleasure in giving his treasurers as gifts. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, and a member of the Greenville V.F.W. Post #3175, Town of Greenville, NY. He married Jean Pratschler Schoonover, who survives at home. He is also survived by his sister, Florence Coombs and her husband William of Sussex, NJ, his nieces and nephews, Gary, Douglas, Randy, Linda Lee and Debbie. His sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karen and Jack Flynn of Sparrowbush, and his nephew Jackie Flynn and his wife Kate. He was pre-deceased by his niece Suzanne.

Margaret S. Dunlap, age 97 of Eldred, NY passed away Friday February 11, 2011 at The University Community Hospital, Tampa, Florida. She was born on December 13, 1913 in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Michael and Adelaide Wehman Strenglein. Margaret was a Professional Nanny, taking care of children from their early years until adolescence. She was a member of St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Shohola, Penna. and the Eldred American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Eldred, NY. She was also a life member of River Valley Chapter #33 O.E.S.. Margaret married Oliver L. Dunlap, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara M. Burke and her husband Kevin of Tampa, Florida, her sister, Kay Strenglein of Hudson, Florida, 4 grandchildren, Cynthia Vergauwen, Terry Sherman, Franklin Sherman, Jr., and Patrick Colo, 9 great grandchildren and 1 niece. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Evelyn Sherman and her grand daughter, Louann Zaremba, and 2 brothers, Harry and Frank Strenglein.

She was born on January 11, 1926 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Richard T. Gill and Ethel Lewis Gill. Doris married James E. Hall on November 30, 1947, with whom she owned and operated the Texas Lunch Restaurant in Port Jervis. He pre-deceased her in 1984. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Port Jervis and a life member of the River Valley Chapter #33, O.E.S., Port Jervis. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Dolores Case and her husband Corbin of Port Jervis, and Cindy Zube and her husband Herman of Port Jervis. , 2 brothers, James Gill and his wife Ethel of Port Jervis, and Robert Gill and his wife Shirley of Dumont, NJ, 5 grandchildren, Corbin, and Shane Case, Katrina Guerrisi and her husband Bryan, Christian, and Arika Zube, 2 great grandchildren, Braedon and Madalyn and several nieces and nephews. Donald E. Williams age 68 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday February 5, 2011 at his home. He was born on July 25, 1942 in Sussex, New Jersey, the son of the late Elmer and Frances M. Cooper Williams. Donald proudly served our country with the US National Guard during the Viet Nam War. He was a retired Boiler Plant Manager at Picatinny Arsenla, Picatinny, New Jersey. Donald married Juanita Beatty Williams, who survives at home. Charles P. Stangenberg, age 82 of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Saturday February 5, 2011 at the Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Horton Campus, Middletown, NY. He was born on May 23, 1928 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Behnke Stangenberg. Charles proudly served our country during WW II with the US Merchant Marines aboard The Liberty Ships. He also served during the Korean Conflict with the US Army. Charles received his apprenticeship from the Essex House in New York City at the age of 16 to further his career with the US Merchant Marines as Chief Steward. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. Charles celebrated 58 years of marriage to Jenny Telesmanic Stangenberg, the love of his life, who survives at home. He is also survived by his son John Stangenberg and his wife Ann Marie of Sparrowbush, 3 daughters, Jeannie Hawley and her husband Stephen of Yoba Linda, Calif. and Joann Weimar and her husband Harold of Virginia Beach, Va. and Janet Dockery and her husband Marc of Walden,NY, 9 grandchilren, Adam, Christine, Colleen, Maureen, Kristin, Madeline, Sean, Murell and Julian. 3 great grandchildren, Alec, Aaron, and Ashley, His brother James Stangenberg of Cokeysville, MD and several nieces and nephews. JEAN MARIE MOGLIA, MATAMORAS, PA.
Jean Marie Moglia, 81, formerly of Matamoras, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011, in Milford, PA, with her family at her side. She was born December 14, 1929, in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Kirschner. In the last 3 years of her life, Jean was a resident of the Mercy Center in Dallas, PA, and Belle Reve Care Center in Milford, PA. Jean was well known to many in the community through her work at the Flo-Jean Restaurant in Port Jervis, NY, in the 1940’s, then for nearly 40 years as hostess at the Evergreen Restaurant in Milford, PA, where she was also part owner. She ended her restaurant career working at The Erie Hotel and Restaurant in Port Jervis, NY, before retiring. Jean was married to the late Adolph Moglia in 1955. She was an active member of the Keystone Community Club of Matamoras, PA. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her five sons and their spouses: William and Bernadine Moglia of Hershey, PA, Stephen Moglia of Milford, PA, Michael and Tiffany Moglia of Harrisburg, PA, Joseph and Jocelyn Moglia of Elmira, NY, and Mark and Tammy Moglia of Milford, PA. Jean is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Michelle, Robert and his wife Stephanie, Bryan, Brooke, Thomas, Erik, Emily, Taylor, and Nicholas; her two sisters, Dorothy Day and her husband Robert, of Hampstead, North Carolina, and Betty Smith of Port Jervis, NY; her brother and sister-in-law Emil and Arlene Moglia of Milford, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday February 9, 2011, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY, 12771, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:15 AM on February 10, 2011. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 309 Avenue F, Matamoras, PA, 18336, with Rev. Walter "Dusty" Rhoades, age 72 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday February 5, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on October 18, 1938 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Walter and Mildred Howell Rhoades. Dusty was a retired Stock Clerk for A& P Food Stores in Susex, New Jersey. He was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church, a member of Excelsior Engine Co. #5, Port Jervis Fire Dept., and a former member of the Mongaup Hunting Club. He was an avid NASCAR Fan, and an avid fan of the Forty-Niners Football Team and a former Port Jervis Little League Coach. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bensley Rhoades at home, children, born of his first wife, his daughter, Victoria Wilcox and her husband Peter of Pine Bush, NY, his sons, Thomas Rhoades and his wife Karen of Milford, Pa., and Bernard Rhoades of Port Jervis. His step-daughter, Leslie Stormes of Port Jervis, and his step-son, Abraham Stormes of Newton, NJ. His grandchildren, Nicole, Kayla and Lindsay Wilcox, Tara and Christopher Rhoades, and Jonathan Rhoades. He was pre-deceased by his brother Frederick Rhoades.

George A. Klischer, Jr. age 90 of Milford, PA., passed away Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on August 21, 1920 in Philadelphia, Penna., the son of the late George A. Klischer, Sr. and Josephine Broskosky Klischer. He was a retired Engineer for Litton Industries, Inc., at College Park, Maryland. George proudly served our country with the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Beltsville, Maryland. He was also a member of the Berwyn Rod & Gun Club in Berwyn, Md., and the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Assoc. in Pennsylvania. George married Ortha S. Gilmore Klischer, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 daughters, Ortha Sosiewicz and her husband Stanley of Milford, Pa., Darlene Norris and her husband Mark of Sykesville, Md., his son, George A. Klischer, III and his wife Mary of Lothian, Md., his sister Virginia Verdi of Philadelphia, Pa., 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 nephew and 2 nieces. HERTA HIRNIAK, GLEN SPEY, NEW YORK
Herta Hirniak, age 84 of Glen Spey, New York, passed away Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, NY. Herta was born in Germany on July 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie Kolonko Pautsch. Herta came to the United States in 1949 with her husband, Bohdan Hirniak who predeceased her. Being brought together by the love of music, her and her husband provided Ukrainian Folk Music for the community for sixty-years. This popular orchestra included family members such as her son and brother-in-law. Herta also volunteered at numerous nursing homes, sharing her gifts and talents of music. She was especially fond of St. Joseph's Place at Bon Secour Hospital, where her mother was a resident until her passing in 2009. Herta was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in April 2005. She was also an accomplished organist and a Minister of Music in several churches of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties, including Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church, in Port Jervis, Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Pond Eddy, St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Yulan the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church and the Kerhonkson Federated Church, which she attended. Herta was a Board Member with the Town of Lumberland Cultural Series were she was well known for her famous desserts. She is survived by her sister, Renate Haduniak of Glen Spey; her son, Jurij Hirniak and his wife, JoAnn of Franklin, NJ; two daughters, Tetiana Cymbal and her husband, Victor of Kerhonkson, Ulana Semeniuk of Glen Spey, six grandchildren: Romona, Melanie, Jurij Jr., Jayde, Victoria and Andrew, her niece and Goddaughter Larysa Kinder, and her nephew Roman Haduniak and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday February 7 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Rev. John Q. LeCain will officiate. Spring Interment will take place at Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY.
