NICHOLAS "JOE" MULLER, III, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK
Nicholas "Joe" Muller, III, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Castle Point VA Hospital, Castle Point, NY. He was 75.The son of the late Nicholas Muller, II and Marie Damberger Muller, he was born November 22, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the widower of Barbara F. Muller Reiger.A Bricklayer for Rosencrance Masonry in Accord, NY, Joe was also a member of the Mahogany Ridge Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed summer mowing lawns. He was famous for saying, "I don't know."Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1951 - 1953, serving with the 3rd Armored Division during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post 161 in Port Jervis.Survivors include two sons, Joseph Muller and his wife, Lori of Sparrowbush, NY, Thomas Muller and his fiancee, Heather Reil of Port Jervis; four grandchildren: Kasi, Barbara, Allison and Dylan Muller; three brothers: Kenny, Harry and Michael Muller; one sister, Ellen Pentland; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Denn; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rosemarie Baker and Amelia Aumick.Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY, on Tuesday, May 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The V.F.W. Post #161 will conduct services Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Emaline Ellen Leek, a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on May 22, 2008 at Mercy Community Hospital in Scranton, PA. She was 80.The daughter of the late Ernest Horton and Georgianna Rundle Horton, she was born March 25, 1928 in Eldred, NY. She was the widow of Scott Russell Leek.Surivors include her four sons: Raymond Leek and his wife, Rosa-Leah of Burton, SC, Roy Leek and his wife, Brenda of Glen Spey, NY, Rodney Leek and his wife, Jane of Attleboro, MA, and Joseph Consiglio; three sisters: Madeline Weiss, Elizabeth Wingert and Betty Milk; nine grandchildren: Scott Leek, Kara Leek, Dakota Leek, Randi Leek, Douglas Leek, McKenzie Leek, Amanda Leek, Sierra Leek and Georgianna Mills; three great-grandchildren: Cory Mills, Aiden Leek and Mikayla Morris; several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, Scott and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Randy Leek, and siblings: Gloria Schwartz, Ellsworth Horton, Kenneth Horton and Bonnie Decker.Friends may call on Monday, May 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. ELLA "JEANETTE" RUMSEY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK
Ella "Jeanette" Rumsey, age 86, late of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 18, at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY.She as born in Port Jervis, NY on May 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel Cuddeback Gilson. She married Henry M. Rumsey on June 28, 1939, who predeceased her February 20, 1998.Jeanette was a retired sewing machine operator for Little Tots, Inc. in Port Jervis, NY. Jeanette is a member of the Hope Free Church, Matamoras, PA, and a graduate of Port Jervis High School, class of 1939. She was a charter member of the Deerpark Seniors, a member of the Friendly Seniors of Sparrowbush, a 45-year member of the Neversink Valley Grange #1530, Huguenot, NY, and she is a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of The American Revolution), Port Jervis.Survivors include her daughter, Eleanor Gobel of Monticello, NY; five sons: Henry A. Rumsey and his wife, Dianna of White Lake, NY, James Rumsey and his wife, Jean of Johnson City, TN, George Rumsey and his wife, Sherrill of Port Jervis, NY, Gerald Rumsey and his wife, Barbara of Barryville, NY, and Douglas Rumsey and his wife, Nancy of Port Jervis, NY; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace M. Cherry age 86, late of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Wednesday May 14, 2008, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home, Roscoe, NY.She was born at Sparrowbush, NY on August 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank B. Cherry and Helen Gilson Cherry. Grace retired from Gamos Store in Sparrowbush after many years. She is a member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church.Grace is survived by two sisters, Helen Chandler of Sparrowbush, NY and Anna Campbell of Matamoras, PA; her sister-in-law, Veronica Cherry of Matamoras, PA; and her nieces, Sharon Branning, Joy Ryerson, Cherry Rosenthal, Kathy Aiken, and Ellen Casper; her nephews, James Chandler, Michael and Tim Cherry; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Ray Spangenberg, age 95, late of Huguenot, NY, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Belle Reve, Milford, PA.He was born August 3, 1912 at Deposit, NY, the son of the late George and Harriet Beasley Spangenberg.He was the former retired co-owner of The Spangenberg Burial Vault Co., Port Jervis, NY.Ray served our country during World War II with the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman, 2nd Class in the Pacific Theatre, Saipan. He was also a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis.He is survived by his two sons, George W. Spangenberg of New York City and Hugh W. NIAL WICKHAM WARNER, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK
Nial Wickham Warner, age 84, late of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home.He was born in Port Jervis, NY on November 18, 1923, the son of the late Nial S. Warner and Elma Wickham Warner.He was a retired Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at Middletown, NY. Nial was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marines, he was life member of the First Marine Div. Assoc., and member of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans Assoc., he is a member of the Disabled American Veterans Assoc., and was recipient of the Purple Heart Medal and was twice wounded. He is a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Nial was also a member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Port Jervis, NY.He was married first to the former Eleanor Utter Warner, who survives and resides at Milford, PA. He was pre-deceased by his second wife the late Jean Vernooy Warner.He is survived by his son, Alan C. Warner and his wife, Diane of North Hampton, PA; two daughters, Carol Ruh and her husband, Raymond of Matamoras, PA, and Kathy Ruh and her husband, Greg of Milford, PA; his sister, Cynthia Kelder of Burnsville, NC; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Quick, age 69, late of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Morristown General Hospital, Morristown, NJ.He was born in Port Jervis, NY on December 3, 1938, the son of the late William N. Quick and Lillian Edwards Quick.Edward was a retired Brakeman/Conductor for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad in Port Jervis, NY. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, NY, The United Transportation Union, and Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328 F. & A.M.After retiring from the railroad, Ed continued working with his wife, Linda, helping with her crafts at The Raspberry Patch.He is survived by his wife, Linda Walt Quick, at home; one son, Edward D. Quick, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Huguenot, NY; his daughter, Sheryl Quick of Montclair, NJ; four grandchildren: Darien, Alex, Edward III and Erik Quick. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Christina Quick; his former daughter-in-law, Laura Bennett; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ardler, age 85, late of Montague, NJ, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at The Homestead Health Care Facility, Branchville, NJ.He was born July 27, 1922 at Oyster Bay, NY, the son of the late Karl and Minnie Heim Ardler.He was a retired Dairy Farmer, at Montague, NJ, and a retired truck driver for Local 445 Teamsters, Newburgh, NY, he also owned and operated a school bus for Montague School System.He was veteran of World War II, serving with the 5th U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was also a member of the Minisink Reformed Church, Montague, NJ; Charter member of he Montague Fire Dept., former member of the Montague Grange, 34 year member of the Montague Planning Board and a Member of the Montague and Sandyston Seniors, and Port Jervis AARP.He married Earleen Emrich Ardler, who survives.
