      Florence "Jessie" Reichel, Matamoras, Pa.
		
          Florence "Jessie" Reichel, a lifelong resident of Matamoras, Pa., passed away Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Milford Senior Care Facility, Westfall Township, Pa. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Henry and Florence Robertson Meyer, she was born May 8, 1912 in Matamoras, Pa. She was married to the late Earl Reichel.
Florence was a retired Silk Weaver for Welch's Mill, Matamoras, Pa. She attended the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, Matamoras, Pa.
She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Gastmeyer of Matamoras, Pa.; two brothers, Henry "Pip" Meyer of Matamoras, Pa. and Karl Meyer and his wife, Lucy of Kennilon, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Edwards, Genevieve Hooey and Alice Quick.
Friends may call Tuesday, November 28, 2006 from 1-2 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. in The Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Sheyhing will officiate.
Interment will be private at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

      Joseph R. Weber, Sparrowbush, New York
		
          Joseph R. Weber, a self-employed Dry Wall Installer and a longtime resident of the area, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at his home in Sparrowbush. He was 60.
The son of the late Joseph and Nellie Marchak Weber, he was born November 12, 1946 in Passaic, N.J.
Surviors include his wife at home, Josephine Ferrantello Weber; one son, Joseph J. Weber and his wife, Michelle of Shohola, Pa.; one daughter, Kimberly Krajcovic and her husband, Ivan of Saugerties; one brother, John Weber of Bloomingdale, N.J.; three grandchildren, Joey, Sarah and Monica; and one nephew.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Cremation took place at H.G. Smith Crematory Stroudsburg, Pa.

      Jeff Macaluso, Milford, Pa.
		
          Jeff Macaluso, a longtime resident of the area, passed away, Monday, November 20, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 66.
The son of the late Rocco Macaluso and Joan Pignatelli Macaluso, he was born October 20, 1940 in the Bronx, N.Y.
Jeff was a retired Butcher for Super City Meats, Bronx, N.Y. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, a Veteran of Vietnam War, U.S. Army; member of V.F.W. Post #60, Danbury, Conn.; member of the Catholic War Vets, Danbury, Conn; member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his lifelong companion, Janeen Foy at home; one daughter, Laura Macaluso; three sons, Rocco Macaluso, Lawrence Macaluso and Jeff Macaluso, Jr.; his mother, Joan Macaluso of Port Jervis; and 13 grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main Street, Port Jervis.
Funeral services will be Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 8 p.m. at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis. Rev. Dennis Dinan will officiate.
Prayers will be offered Wednesday afternoon.
Interment will take place at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.

      Viola P. "Vi" Somarelli, Cuddebackville, New York
		
          Viola P. "Vi" Somarelli, a lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at her home. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Boyd Clark, she was born August 20, 1923 in Cuddebackville, N.Y. She married Frank Somarelli, Sr. on October 13, 1940, recently celebrating their 66th anniversary.
Vi was a waitress for the Pup's Tail Restaurant in Port Jervis, and worked in the housekeeping department at the Eddy Farm Resort & Hotel in Sparrowbush. She was a former member of the Neversink Valley Grange in Huguenot; member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis; life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161 in Port Jervis; former member of Ladies Auxiliary, Huguenot Fire Department, and member of the National Human Rights Committee for P.O.W. - M.I.A.'s in Walden, N.Y.
Survivors include her husband, Frank, at home; two daughters, Janice Bullis and her husband, John of Huguenot and Carol Somarelli of Huguenot; two sons, Nicholas Somarelli and his wife, Rhonda of Huguenot and Kevin Somarelli of Middletown; daughter-in-law, Nancy Somarelli of Huguenot; sister, Catherine Conklin of Port Jervis; ten grandchildren: Frank Somarelli III, Michael, Jason, Heather and Matthew Somarelli, John Bullis Jr., Janine Shearer, Jennifer Morse, Bruce and Crane VanDermark Jr.; 17 great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Amber, Amanda, Michael and Kirsten Somarelli, Jessica, Crystal and Hanna Bullis, Timothy and Jillian Shearer, Andrew and Brandon Morse, Carol Ann and Megan Vandermark, and Sara, Emily and Katie Vandermark; her special little dog, "Sammie", and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Frank Somarelli, Jr. on June 7, 1998.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at HG Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.

      Percy H. Cox, Port Jervis, New York
		
          Percy H. Cox, a lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was 83.
Son of the late George and Grace Jones Cox, he was born September 7, 1923 in Port Jervis, N.Y.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal; the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Service Medal. He was a member of the Roose-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161 in Port JErvis, and a lifetime member of Howard Wheat Engine Co. #4, Port Jervis Fire Department. He was a retired Carman for the Erie Railroad in Port Jervis, N.Y.
Survivors include one sister, Mabel Padgett of Port Jervis, and several nieces and nephews, including: James Padgett and his wife, Marian, of Sparrowbush, Betty Fleming, Pat Fuller and Dorothy Hendershot, all of Port Jervis.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Charles Cox; one sister, Mildred Holly; his longtime companion, Mary Kurtz, and his beloved pets, Susie and Snoopy.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Port Jervis.

      Christine D. Elia, Port Jervis, New York
		
          Christine D. Elia, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the area, passed away, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at her home. She was 83.
The daughter of the late James Bruno Andriak and Mary Vallenti Andriak, she was born December 25, 1922 in Port Jervis. She was married to the late Anthony Elia.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Kwaak of Middletown; two sisters, Rose Andriak and Mary Rombousek both of Port Jervis.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 6, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. in the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
Burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

      Lewis J. Schmalzle, Barryville, New York
		
          Lewis J. Schmalzle, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 83.
The son of the late J. Lewis and Sophie Vogelbacher Schmalzle, he was born November 25, 1922 in Shohola, Pa. He was married to Clara Vollmer Schmalzle, who survives.
Lewis was a retired Railroad Engineer, Erie R.R., Port Jervis. He was a member of The Barryville United Methodist Church for over 75 years; he was a member for over 60 years of the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328, F. and A.M. and Past Master in 1956; a member and Past Patron of River Valley Chapter Order of The Eastern Star #33, Port Jervis; a life member of the Yulan Rod and Gun Club; American Legion, Eldred; a Veteran of World War II U.S. Army; a member of The Upper Delaware Council of Townships. He was instrumental in writing Management Plans for the Delaware River Corridor; a member and 10 year Chairman for the Planning Board, Town of Highland. He helped to write the first Zoning subdivision ordinances and Master Plan for the Town of Highland. He was former Secretary and Treasurer for the United Transportation Union, Local 1200, Erie R.R. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping, but above all nothing could surpass the love of his family.
Survivors include his wife at home, Clara Vollmer Schmalzle; two daughters, Sharon Barnes and her husband, Larry of Gouldsboro Point, Maine and Ginny Dudko and her husband, William of Sparrowbush; one son, Donald L. Schmalzle and wife, Cindy of Ellenville; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Tricia, Amy and Laura; four great grandchildren, David Colin, Moira and Waylon.
Friends may call Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in The Barryville United Methodist Church, Barryville. The Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst will officiate.
Port Jervis Lodge of Masons will conduct services Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
