Edna L. Pulos, Matamoras, Pa.

Edna L. Pulos, a lifelong area resident and cook at Dingman Delaware School District, died Saturday May 28, 2005 at home. She was 74.

The daughter of the late Elwood "Beans" Gordon and Louise Heater Gordon, she was born April 15, 1931 in Matamoras, Pa.

She was the widow of Richard Pulos.

Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Matamoras and the Matamoras Recreation Committee.

She is survived by her son, Gary Southard and wife, Ellen, of Huguenot, N.Y.; one daughter, Julie Fuller and husband, Randy, of Matamoras; three brothers: William Gordon of Middletown, Kenneth Gordon of Binghamton, N.Y., and Harold VanAcken of Slate Hill, N.Y.; one sister, Marge Schumacher of Middletown; two stepsons, Richard Pulos and wife, Donna of Montgomery, and Donald Pulos of Liberty; grandchildren: Christopher, John, Ryan and Alaina; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Gordon and Elwood Jr. "Butch" Gordon.

Friends may call on Tuesday May 31, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 1 in the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Scheyhing officiating. Burial will follow in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, N.Y.

Carolyn "Kay" Leight, Port Jervis, New York

Carolyn "Kay" Leight, retired owner of Kay's Lunch in Port Jervis and lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Dayton and Della Aber Kent, she was born May 27, 1915 in Port Jervis.

She was the widow of LeGrand "Bucky" Leicht.

She was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis; former Deacon of the church; member of the former "Shipmates", Port Jervis; Ladies Auxiliary of the Howard Wheat Hose Co. #4, Port Jervis Fire Dept. Kay was an avid Bingo player who enjoyed being with people and always having a good word to say about someone.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Scott and her husband Thomas of Matamoras, Pa.; two sons, William C. Leicht and his wife Carol of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kenneth J. Leicht of Port Jervis; one sister, Jean Brown and her husband Kenneth of Deltona, Fla.; one brother, Lawrence Kent and wife Janice of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Michelle Rothwell, Dianne Roberson, Andrew Leicht, Erik Leicht, Christopher and Patrick Scott; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Ty Roberson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, May 29 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30 at the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen Huston will officiate.

Burial will be in Hainesville Cemetery in Hainesville, N.J.

Myroslow "Marvin" Mandzy, Matamoras, Pa.

Myroslow "Marvin" Mandzy, a retired machinist for Kylee and Mueller Co., Middletown and lifelong area resident, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton, Pa. He was 87.The son of the late Jacob and Jessie Ewaskiw Mandzy, he was born March 15, 1918 in New York City.He was the widower of Mary Kowal Mandzy.He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pa.; a veteran of the US Army serving in the South Pacific during WW II; life-member and past commander of the Mountain Laurel V.F.W. Post #8612, Milford, Pa. He was also a retired bartender of Karstens Inn, Port Jervis and the Hotel Minisink, Port Jervis; member of the Teamsters Local 815, Englewood Cliffs, N.J.A family statement reads, "Marvin loved to entertain people with his jokes and songs at many events and occasions."Survivors include two sons, Carl Mandzy and his wife Beverlee of Matamoras, Pa., Michael Mandzy and his wife Susan of Matamoras, Pa.; one daughter, Anna Marie Latini and her husband Michael of Port Jervis; four grandchildren, Heather Tufano and her husband Joseph, Jennie Lynn Mandzy, Michele and Kathleen Mandzy; one great-grandson, Trevor J. Cynthia Ann Decker, a customer service representative for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Middletown and lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at the South Florida Baptist Hospital, Plant City, Fla. She was 43.The daughter of Russell and Amelia Savarese Sauer Sr., she was born October 25, 1961 in Port Jervis.She was a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis.A family statement reads, "Cindy was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She touched many lives with her strength. Despite the seriousness of her illness, the past few years, her sons and family were always her first concern. Marietta Anderson, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the area, died Tuesday May 17, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. She was 84.The daughter of the late William and Olive White Schmidt, she was born November 23, 1920 in Port Jervis, N.Y.The widow of William J. Bessie "Betty" Addy, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday May 15, 2005 at The Milford Senior Care in Milford, Pa. She was 85.The daughter of the late Richard T. and Ethel Lewis Gill, she was born March 24, 1920 in Port Jervis, N.Y.She was a member and past matron of the River Valley Chapter #33, O.E.S., Port Jervis; member of the Laurel Court #58; and Order of the Amaranth, Port Jervis.A family statement reads: "Betty loved to cook and care for her entire family, but nothing surpassed the love she held for each one of them."She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Addy; two sons, Larry Addy and his wife, Joan, of Port Jervis, and Douglas D. Michael J. Fedorka Sr., Port Jervis, New York

Michael J. Fedorka, Sr., a lifelong resident and retired Supervisor and Master Mechanic for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, died Tuesday May 10, 2005 at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility. He was 92.The son of the late Roman and Julia Fedorka, he was born October 28, 1912 in Scranton, Pa.Michael graduated from St. Mary's School in 1926 and went to work for the Erie R.R. at age 14. At the time of his retirement he was a Master Mechanic in the car department. He was a former member of the Neversink Engine Co., Port Jervis Fire Department; the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks #645 B.P.O.E.; and a member of Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Port Jervis.The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility for their love and affection.Michael is survived by his wife of 72 years, Josephine Romaine Fedorka; two sons, Michael Fedorka, Jr., at home, and Roman J. Gale H. Ewbank, a retired mechanic for the Ewbank Co., Inc. in Matamoras, Pa. and lifelong resident, died Sunday May 8, 2005, at home. George Williams, Port Jervis, New York

George Williams, a four year resident of Port Jervis and formerly of the state of Florida, died Saturday May 7, 2005 at his home. He was 72.The son of the late James and Victoria Chaplin Williams, he was born November 26, 1932 in New Rochelle, N.Y.George was a retired police officer with the New York City Police Department. He was a member of the P.B.A. (Patrolman's Benevolent Association), and B.P.O.E. - Elks. George served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and he loved to fish and paint.He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Benson Williams, at home; one son, Alfred J. Anna "Gram" Gallondorn, a retired assembler for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis and lifelong resident of the area, died May 2, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 89.The daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Kardazh Pedlock, she was born May 21, 1915 in Port Jervis.She was the widow of Nicholas A. Gallondorn.She attended St. Joseph's R.C. Church; was a member of Port Jervis Bowling League; Ladies Auxiliary Tri-State Naval Ship #7241; Port Jervis AARP; Matamoras Senior Citizens. She was also an avid bingo player. Anna loved to be with people, had numerous friends and was known by all for her out-going personality.Survivors include one son, Thomas N. Bernice T. Hensz, a life-long area resident, and retired co-owner of Hensz's Garage, Port Jervis, NY, died April 30, at her home. She was 88.The daughter of the late Joseph and Mae Flood Johnson, she was born August 28, 1916 in Queens, NY.She was married to the late John M. Hensz.She was a former Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for Port Jervis, former Den Mother for Port Jervis Cub Scouts; member of Catholic Daughters Court Madonna # 114, Port Jervis. Bernice and her late husband were avid snowmobilers and enjoyed many trips to the Adirondacks with their friends to go snowmobiling.Survivors include one son, John M. She was 59.The daughter of the late Lester and Lizzie Scheels Decker, she was born July 31, 1945 in Port Jervis, N.Y.Survivors include her husband, Raymond C. Marsh, Sr., at home; one son, Raymond C. Marsh, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Port Jervis; one daughter, Laura Tibby and her husband, David, of Port Jervis; two brothers, Charles Decker and his wife, Shirley, of Bloomingburg, and Fred Decker of Port Jervis; three grandchildren: Amanda, Jessica and Johnathon; sister-in-law, June Cortez of Cuddebackville; brothers-in-law, Donald Marsh of Port Jervis and William Marsh of E. Stroudsburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.Friends may call Monday, May 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y.The funeral will be Tuesday, May 3 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Huston officiating.
