Edward J. Schick, Port Jervis, New York
Edward J. Schick, a truck driver for Marathon Enterprises, Fairlawn, N.J. and longtime area resident, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. He was 57. The son of Edward and Ruth Douglas Schick, he was born February 26, 1948 in New York City. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Army. Survivors include his wife Jean Tornetto Schick at home; three sons Scott Schick of Brooklyn, Charles Schick of Port Jervis and Robert Gubelman of Deerpark, Long Island; one daughter Lisa Leon-Utter and husband Clifford of Huguenot; six grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Harley, Austin, Steven and Alexsandra; one sister Ruth Ryan of Long Island. Hazel Smith, North Carolina, Formerly of Glen Spey, New York
Hazel Smith, retired owner of Smith Notions Store of Port Jervis, died Friday, November 11, 2005 at Penick Village Nursing Home, Southern Pines, N.C. She was 93.
The daughter of the late George and Jessie White, she was born August 22, 1912 in Glen Spey.
She was the widow of Louis F. Smith.
She was a member of St. Mary's RC Church, Port Jervis, St. Peter's RC Church on Capital Hill in Washington, DC and the Clara Bradley Lodge.
Survivors include her three daughters, Gwen Lewis and husband Richard of Houston, Texas, Eileen Leto and husband Marvin of Southern Pines, N.C. and Patricia Hanrehan and husband Arthur of Washington, D.C.; one son, Louis Smith Jr. and wife Karen of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Agnes Bodens of Narrowsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery where burial will follow.

Ann Powrie, Port Jervis, New York
Ann Powrie, a retired Licensed Practical Nurse for the Foundling Hospital in New York City, N.Y. and lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 72.
The daughter of the late John J. Powrie and Alice Leonard Powrie, she was born July 26, 1933 in Port Jervis, N.Y.
Ann was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis.
She is survived by two brothers, J. Andrew Powrie and his wife, Suzanne, of Wescosville, Pa., and Patrick M. Powrie and his wife, Pak, of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Agnes Masters of Port Jervis and Lorraine Seeber of Matamoras, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Jack Powrie, and two sisters, Agnes Monahan and Mary Powrie.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y.
The vigil wake service will be held Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Prayers will be offered on Thursday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis. The Rev. Antony Iqnaci will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.

Walter J. Garbellini, Matamoras, Pa.
Walter J. Garbellini, a retired bio technician at Newton Hospital in Newton, N.J. and lifelong area resident, died Saturday, November 26, 2006 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. He was 73.
The son of the late Venanzio Garbellini and Carla DeRota, he was born in the Bronx.
He was a member of Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis and a veteran of the US Navy, Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Judith Thomas Garbellini at home; one son Joseph Garbellini and wife Jeannie of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Kathleen Wood of Gainesville, Fla.; one grandson Christopher Garbellini; two granddaughters, Renee Garbellini, Rachael Wood; two stepdaughters, Ann Marie Beckage of Scranton, Pa., Patricia Petroziello of Scranton, Pa.; five step-grandchildren, Logan, David, Joshua, Alexa, Kevin Jr.

MaryAnn Gosch, Shohola, Pa.
MaryAnn Gosch of Walker Lake, Shohola, Pa., a retired legal secretary for Jerome Cohen, Attorney at Law of Port Jervis, N.Y. and a life-long area resident, died Monday, November 21, 2005 at Morristown General Hospital, Morristown, N.J. She was 66.
The daughter of the late Thomas McCann and Agnes Kohl McCann, she was born December 9, 1938 in Port Jervis, N.Y.
MaryAnn was a member of the Milford Valley Quilters Guild, Walker Lake Ladies Club, Red Hat Society, D & H Square Dancers, Dingman's Dancers and a member of "Our Crowd." She was also a member of the Busy Bees, the Silver Needles and the Golden Age Club, Milford, Pa.
Survivors include her husband, Paul W. Gosch at home, a son, Daniel Gosch and his wife, Krista of Matamoras, Pa.; three daughters: Debra Palmisano and her husband, Daniel of Tobyhanna, Pa., Heidi Estok and her husband, Erik, of Port Jervis, and Jennifer Brooks of Layton, N.J.; a sister, Helen Kline of Port Jervis; two brothers: Robert McCann of Elkton, Va. and William McCann of Broadway, Va.; seven grandchildren: Steven, Anthony, Melissa, Nina, Joshua, Jenna and Mason; two step-grandchildren: Tyler and Danielle; two great-grandchildren: Bobby and Collin and several nieces and nephews.

Irene Spoonhower, a cashier for Save-A-Lot Food Store in Port Jervis and lifelong area resident, died Monday, November 14, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 51.
The daughter of Mary Baran Heal and the late Paul Heal, she was born January 20, 1954 in Port Jervis.
Survivors include her husband Richard "Dick" Spoonhower at home; one daughter, Tara Spoonhower at home; one son, Brent Spoonhower at home; her mother Mary Heal of Port Jervis; one brother, Michael Heal and wife Bonnie of Port Jervis; two sisters, Paula Lynch and husband William of Warwick, R.I. and Diana Russell and husband Kevin of Delanco, N.J.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her loving dog, "CODA."

Leonard "Budd" Masters, Port Jervis, New York
Leonard "Budd" Masters, a retired Letter Carrier for the Port Jervis U.S. Postal Service, a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, November 11, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 78.
The son of the late Leonard S. Masters and Ann Margaret Ewan, he was born February 22, 1927 in Jersey City, N.J.
Budd was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II; he was a member of the Delaware Engine Co. #2, Port Jervis Fire Department; and member of the James C. Bilz, American Legion Post #685 in Port Jervis.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Agnes Barber Masters, at home; two sons, Ken Masters and his wife, Karlene, of Hickory, N.C., and Bob Masters and his wife, Roberta, of Port Jervis; three sisters: Jean Masters of Morrisville, Pa., Ruth Kimball of Merideth, N.H., and Leona Mahoney of Trenton, N.J.; one brother, Rich Masters of Pompano Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren: Corey, Ashley, Sara, Adam and Andy; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael L. Watts, Cuddebackville, New York
Michael Linn Watts of Cuddebackville, N.Y., a salesman for Caps Plus in Goshen and a seven-year area resident, died November 7, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 42.
Born August 2, 1963 in Lewisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Linn Watts and Judith Woodruff Watts, who survives.
Michael was a member of Moose Lodge #2036 in Mamakating, N.Y.
A family statement reads: "He loved to shoot pool. He had many friends across the country due to his love of computers and the Internet. He was a humongous Penn State fan."
Survivors include his wife, Mary Freeman Watts, at home; his mother, Judith Woodruff Watts, of Milton, Pa.; one son, Jeremy Watts, at home; two daughters: Miranda Villamar and her husband, Tobias, of Cuddebackville, N.Y. and Jennifer Watts of Milton, Pa.; one sister, Michelle Watts of Milton, Pa.; his grandfather, Robert Woodruff of Milton, Pa.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Villamar of Cuddebackville, N.Y.; and a niece, Nicole Watts of Milton, Pa.

Helen L. DeGroat, a retired floorlady at Andmore Sportswear of Port Jervis, N.Y., and lifelong resident of the area, died Monday, November 7, 2005 at home. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Webster and Roxie Hill Crowell, she was born February 13, 1913 in Blairstown, N.J.
She was the widow of Delbert DeGroat.
Helen attended the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley DeGarmo of Matamoras, Pa., and Gladys Dietz of Scranton, Pa.; one sister, Laura McGaw of Port Jervis; one brother, Edgar Crowell of Santa Maria, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sons: Delbert DeGroat, Frederick DeGroat, and Abraham DeGroat; one sister, Lulu Titsworth; and brother, Allen Crowell.
Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y.

The daughter of the late James and Ida Mae Holmes Bidmead, she was born October 24, 1906 in Ashbrook, N.J.
She was the widow of Harold Godby.
A family statement reads, "Adelaide enjoyed having a garden and watching the wildlife that surrounded her."
