JAMES M. BURNS, CUDDEBACKVILLE, NEW YORK

James M. Burns, age 77, of Cuddebackville, NY, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his summer home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire after a long illness.He was born on March 5, 1932 in New York, NY, the son of the late James P. Burns and Anna Unger Burns.Jim attended Syracuse University. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Army from 1955-1956. He was employed by McGuire Brothers in Long Island City, NY for many years, after his retirement in 1980 he became self-employed and continued working.James was very active in the dog show world, he was an American Kennel Club delegate, and an AKC Judge. He was a member of the Shawanagunk Kennel Club and a member of the Sleepy Hollow German Shorthaired Pointer Club. He was former President of the Monticello, NY Kennel Club and elected to the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Montgomery Sportsman's Club and a member of the County Line Gun Club. Jim had a passion for hunting and fishing.He is survived by his wife of 54 years at home, June D. Burns. He is also survived by his two sons, Dr. Jay Burns and his wife, Janet of Hampstead, NH and Jeffrey Burns and his wife, Tami of Port Orange, FL; his daughter, Jill Accame and her husband, Guillermo of Englewood, CO; five grandchildren: Colby and Katie Burns, Alex and Christian Accame and Marissa Burns.Friends may call Sunday evening, July 26, from 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Raj officiating.
