CYRUS V. KEAN, JR., PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Cyrus V. Kean, Jr., age 61, of Port Jervis, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Port Jervis.He was born on January 18, 1948 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Cyrus V. Kean, Sr. and Frances Theresa O'Neill Kean.Cy was a retired Locomotive Engineer for Conrail Railroad, Hoboken, NJ. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. He proudly served our country with the First Division, 16th Infantry, U.S. Army in an area north of Saigon, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Cy loved to run and ran in the New York City Marathon.Cyrus married Christina Nowik Kean, who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Ryan Kean and his companion, Lachlan of Port Jervis; five brothers: John J. Kean and his wife, Carolyn of Dade City, FL, Bernard Kean and his wife, Pamela of Spring Hill, FL, Francis Kean and his wife, Eileen of Glen Spey, NY, Cary Kean and his wife, Denise of Norcross, GA, and Kevin L. Kean and his wife, Kelly of Port Jervis; his sister, Kathleen Cassaniti and her husband, Louis of Interlaken, NY; five grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Riley, Sarah and Grady; and several nieces and nephews.Friends may call Friday, May 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. The vigil wake service will be held Friday afternoon at the funeral home.Prayers will be offered Saturday, May 9, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary's R.C.
