Joseph E. Hartmann age 59 of Deerfield Beach, Florida and formerly of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Sunday March 13, 2010 at his home. He was born in Middletown, NY on June 27, 1950, the son of the late Francis Hartmann and Betty Heater Hartmann, who survives. Joseph was long time Harness racing Publicist and Sports writer for the Times-Herald Record in Middletown, NY and the Tri-Sate Gazette in Port Jervis, NY. He was a member of St. Ambrose R.C. Church in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was Past President and chairman of the U.S. Harness Writers Assoc and Past President of the American Harness Publicist's Assoc.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Heater Hartmann of Sparrowbush, NY, his daughter Jessica of Port Jervis, NY, his brother, Paul Hartmann of Port Jervis, his sister, Laura Lincoln of Midlothian, Virginia, his grand daughter Mackenzie and several nieces and nephews.
