Doris G. Quick age 80, of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday June 30, 2009 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis, NY. Doris was born on April 23, 1929 in Honesdale, Pa., the daughter of the late Richard and Eleanor Roney Gregory. She was a retired professional seamstress for J.C. Penney Co., Port Jervis, NY , where she made custom draperies for many years. Doris then became an Employment Services Representative for The New York State Dept. of Labor, at Port Jervis and Middletown. Doris was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis, she was the church organist for over 40 years. She was a member of The Lunch Bunch of the Church, she was an elder and member of the Board of Trustees of the Church, a choir member and accompanied the choir as pianist and organist, and a member of the Presby Players. Doris was honored to sing at Carnegie Hall with Donald Marsh. She graced the community with her musical talents for many years. She was a member of the Port Jervis Antique Study Club; the Port Jervis Music Study Club, the Port Jervis Business and Professional Women; and a Board Member of Hill Hold Museum, Orange, Co. NY; and the Orange County Human Rights Commission. Doris was a strong advocate at the Port Jervis Common Council meetings, attending regularly.
Doris married the late Charles F. Quick, who pre-deceased her in 1977. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Adrienne Kaplan and her husband Harold of Beavercreek, Ohio and Samantha Bromage and her husband Jake of Rochester, NY; 5 grandchildren Aaron Kaplan and his wife Stephanie, Ian Kaplan, Megan, Charlotte and Dylan Bromage, 2 sisters, Joyce Brown, and JoAnne Gardner; 6 brothers Pastor Richard Gregory, Dale, Fred, Michael, David and Todd Gregory and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Jan Gregory.
Friends may call Thursday July 2 from 2-4 and 7-Pm at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday July 3, at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 Sussex St. Port Jervis, NY with Rev. Stephen Huston officiating.
