Joyce M. Spangenberg, age 78, of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY.She was born on August 25, 1930 at Middletown, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Myrtie Smith.Joyce was a retired registered nurse for Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis for many years. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis.A family statement reads: "Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and care giver, she was loved by all those she touched."Joyce is survived by her husband at home, Edward Spangenberg; two daughters, Janet Mikulak and her husband, Michael of Watertown, NY and Kim Hannigan and her husband, Donald of Port Jervis; two sons, Mark Spangenberg and Roy Spangenberg both of Port Jervis; seven grandchildren: Kelly, Nichole, Amanda, Samantha, Kati, Ashley, and Mary Jane; five great grandchildren; her brother, Harold Smith, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Attica, NY; and her sister, Karen Wyatt of Lawrenceburg, IN and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Sherry Breen.Friends may call Wednesday, February 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Cassidy officiating.
