MARGARET "PEGGY" NELSON, SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK

Margaret “Peggy” Nelson age 75 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at her home. Peggy was born on June 9, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Nels P. and Ruth Noble Nelson. She retired as a first and second grade school teacher for the Port Jervis School District after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teacher’s Assoc. Peggy was a faithful member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis. She was vestry member of Grace Church, head of the Sunday School and Altar Guild. She often would be seen manicuring the beautiful flower gardens around Grace Church. Peggy is survived by her brother Nels P. Nelson, III of Guildhall, Vermont, her two nephews, Nels P. Nelson, IV and Christopher Eric Nelson, two great nieces and four great nephews, her step-daughter Melissa Hamilton of Pine Island, NY and three step-grandsons. She is also survived by her very close friends and care givers, Patty and Jim McCooey of Sparrowbush, Carol Brown and her family of Matamoras, and Pat Reed, her church family at Grace Church, and a host of special friends. She will be also greatly missed her devoted furbabies. Due to the health crisis, with love and respect to Peggy’s family and friends, services and cremation will be private at this time. Memorial services will be held at a later time at Grace Episcopal Church and will be announced by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to Grace Episcopal Church, 84 Seward Ave., Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, preferably, food for the animals, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
