Elizabeth Hoare, age 98 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away Wednesday February 8, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis, New York. Elizabeth was born on May 23, 1913 in Sparrowbush, the daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Tupper Hoare. Elizabeth was a retired Bookkeeper for Andmore Sportswear, Inc. and Case Motors in Port Jervis, and previously worked for the British Consulate in New York City. She attended the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church. Graveside services were held Monday February 13, at 2pm at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush. Tadeusz A. Wyka age 86 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday February 12, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. Tad was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was an excellent provider and a caring and loving person. Tad was born on September 18, 1925 in Lwow, Poland, the son of the late Felix and Helena Wyka. He worked as a Draftsman Designer for Skydyne, Inc., Wilder MFg. and the Hornet Group, Inc all located in Port Jervis. He was a member of the Tri-States Rod & Gun Club in Port Jervis and received an award for second place in the Spring Trap League in 1986. He was also an avid bowler and a member of the Neversink Men's Bowling League during the 1970's and was the recipient of many trophies from the league. Tad married Joyce Prothero Wyka and celebrated 54 years of marriage on February 7, 2012. He is survived by his wife Joyce at home, his son, Tadeusz Wyka and his wife Dawn of Matamoras, Pa., his daughter, Marianne Besaw and her husband Richard of Scotchtown, NY, his grand daughter Jennifer Wyka, 2 grandsons, Paul and Mark Besaw, and his nephew, Dr. Toby Davis and his wife Ann of Lowville, NY. Cleopatra S. Young age 93 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Middletown, NY. She was born on January 28, 1918 in Dolimite, Alabama, the daughter of the late Alonzo Swift and Katie Riley Swift. Cleo was a retired Data Entry Clerk for the United States Navy at San Diego, Calif. She received her BA in Music and was a private music teacher. Cleopatra was a member of the Wickham Methodist Church in Port Jervis and organist for the church.Survivors include her sister Lovie Swift, Westbrookville, New York, her step-daughter Sherri Young, San Francisco, California, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. HENRI F. WACLAW, GLEN SPEY, NEW YORK

Henri F. Waclaw of Glen Spey, NY passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at home. The son of Alois and Kerstin Akeson Waclaw, Henri was born in Gotland, Sweden.
After Junior College, Henri served his compulsory time in the Swedish Army Artillery between 1948 to 1950. He was selected for further military education and training to become an officer in the Reserve Forces. Henri became a 1st Lieutenant. His private studies continued at Orebro Tech, an engineering school in Sweden. After three years there he received his degree in machinery. He became an Engineer in 1953.
Henri began his career with Otis Elevator in 1955 as a process engineer in the Yonkers, NY Plant. After a number of engineering assignments in Yonkers and New York City, he was named manager, industrial engineering in Yonkers in 1970. During this time he received a patent for Banding and Balancing of Dynamoelectric Machines in 1967. In 1972, he was named manager, manufacturing for the Yonkers plant, a position he held until 1983, when he was named Plant Manager in Hamilton Ontario. In 1987, Henri moved to the Farmington Engineering Center as director, service, installation and productibility. Henri ran the Liverpool, U.K. plant as director and general manager from 1988 to 1989 before taking on a special assignment of NAO’s Northeast Region. Henri then became Operations Manager for the Bloomington,IN. facility in 1990 and retired in 1992. Between that time he was quite involved with the Luxor in Las Vegas who’s elevators ride on a 39 degree angle. Also the Tower of Terror at Disney in Orlando, Florida.
The Otis Family was a big part of Henri's life and he was very proud to be part of that team. He often said that Otis was very good to him and to his wife, Mary.
Henri and his wife, Mary Imrich Waclaw of 30 years enjoyed the quiet of Glen Spey and retired there. Henri enjoyed Duck hunting in the Baskerkill, was a member of the Deep Hollow Hunting Club and enjoyed playing tennis and golf when he was younger. After retiring, he would travel back to Gotland, Sweden where he enjoyed visits with his brother, Frea and families. He enjoyed the fishing that Gotland had and all the old friends and new friends that he made while there. Henri was always happy to be back home again in Glen Spey with all the extended families and dear friends that he looked forward to seeing. Whether it is at the Post Office or the Town Hall he would always say hello and catch up on the newest happenings. Living along the reservoir he would stop each fisherman to find out how the fishing was and if their luck had landed any "big ones". Some of these fishermen later would stop by to share their stories and drop off the night’s dinner. The sprit of Christmas would bring Henri to the Annual Lumberland Christmas Party for the children. He enjoy watching the children delight in their gifts from Santa. He would talk about when he first to Glen Spey with his Aunt and Uncle Clas Akeson only to have the 1955 flood stopping them from entering the area. Henri enjoyed raising Guinea Fowl and hatched up to 75 of them before he even knew it. He enjoyed his "windows on the world" meaning all the wild life that came through looking for a meal or two. Henri would put his math and engineering skills to work by coming up with all kinds of building projects that with a little help got done in no time.
Henri leaves behind his older brother, Frea and his wife, Ann-Marie, their children, Christina and her children, Niklas and Maans, nephew, Lars Johan and his wife, Helena and their children, Malin and Jonas. Henri also leaves behind his brothers-in law, George, Joseph and Edward Imrich and sisters-in-law, Marge D’Anna and Helen Szulhan, all of Sweden. His extended family of Fountains and many close friends near and far that will miss his quick wit with many stories.
The Family would like to take this time to thank all Henri’s many good friends and neighbors who shared in helping and their concerns. A very special thank you to Christa and the Hospice team, and Terri Fountain, without their compassion it would be so hard for those around Henri to do what needed to be done.

Joseph P. Meyer age 99 of Eldred, NY passed away Sunday February 5, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was born on March 31, 1912 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Henry and Amelia Steinmetz Meyer. Joe was a retired Night Watchman for the Sullivan County Highway Dept in Barryville, NY. He proudly served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army. Joseph was a member of St. Anthony's of Padua R.C. Church in Yulan, NY and a member of the Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post in Eldred. Joseph married Charlotte Chybowski Meyer who survives at home. He is also survived by his sister, Lillian Wachter of Barryville and several nieces and nephews. Marion J. Gottlieb age 90 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday February 4, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. She was born on June 22, 1921 in Rio, NY, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Gumaer Obermeyer. Marion retired as a waitress from the Flo-Jean Restaurant in Port Jervis where she worked for many years. She was a life member of Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Port Jervis and a member of the Alter & Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court Madonna #114, Port Jervis. Marion married Jacob W. Gottlieb, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her 3 sons, Joseph Gottlieb and his wife Lorraine of Forestburgh, NY, Roger Gottlieb of Port Jervis, and Timothy Gottlieb and his wife Lynn of Port Jervis., 2 daughters, Nancy Simini and her husband Michael of Bel Air, Md and Susan McDonald of Port Jervis. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Obermeyer of Georgetown, Texas and her sister Patricia Mathisen of State College, Pa., 7 grandchildren, Janine Cheshire, Jason and Stephanie Gottlieb, Christina and Matthew Simini, Kevin and Sarah McDonald, 5 Great Grandchildren, Lauren, Emylee, Joseph, Molly and Samantha and several nieces and nephews. Leslie C. Crine, 91, of Port Jervis passed away on February 4, 2012 at Andover Nursing Home, Andover, NJ. The son of the late Leslie H. Crine and Edna Curran Crine, he was born on June 13, 1920 in Port Jervis, NY. On October 5, 1941 he married Jean A. Hawkins in Port Jervis, NY.
Leslie was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, a carpenter, and railroad conductor by trade, an avid photographer, bird watcher and genealogist. He was a member of the American Legion Post 685, former member of Port Jervis Fire Department Hose #6, Minisink Valley Historical Society, United Transportation Union, and Laurel Grove Cemetary Board. He was a lifetime attendee of Drew United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean and their five children: sons, Leslie and his wife, Janice, Stephen and his wife, Katherine, Richard and his wife, Christina, all of California; daughters, Candace and her husband, Hugh Spangenberg of Huguenot, NY and Jo Ann and her husband, Joseph McCafferty of Sparrowbush; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Drew) Crine of Matamoras, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carlton and Russell.
Funeral services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

She was born on December 10, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth Langlois Cram. She was a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. Lorraine was a retired cook for the Nevele Hotel in Ellenville, NY. She is survived by 2 daughters, Laurie Carr and her husband Donald of Port Jervis, and Elizabeth Mizler and her husband Charles of Hawley, Penna. She is also survived by her son Timothy Tice and his wife Doreen of Port Jervis, 8 grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. June A. Livingston, age 80, of Port Jervis, NY, beloved wife, entered into God's hands on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis. She was born on June 20, 1931 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Emery and Beatrice Gilbert Price. June was a retired Cafeteria Aide for the Port Jervis School System. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court Madonna #114, Port Jervis and a Life Member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Tri-State Naval Post #7241, and a member of the National and Port Jervis A.A.R.P. She was a member of the Port Jervis Forty-Niners and a Den Leader's Coach for 39 years with the Port Jervis Cub Scouts. June married Vincent E. Livingston, Sr., on December 4, 1949, who survives at home. She is also survived by her 3 sons, Vincent Livingston, Jr. and his wife Rose Anne of Tyler Hill, Penna., David Livingston of Port Jervis, and Denis Livingston and his wife Patricia of Port Jervis, 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Jeremy, Josh, Joe,Rachel, David, Jr., and Michelle, 6 great grandchildren, her sister Shirley Reiff of Port Jervis and several nieces and nephews. She was born on May 26, 1941 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond T. and Rosemary O'Dwyer Murray. Patricia was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church and a Retired Teacher for Trinity Catholic School at St. Mary's. She was also retired former owner of Kids Kampus Pre-School in Matamoras, Penna. She was a member of the American Cancer Society, a member of Boys Town, USA and the MSAA( Multiple Sclerosis Assoc.)
Patricia married Nicholas C. Roeckell, who survives at home. She is also survived by her 2 daughters, Patricia Snyder of Ellenville, NY, and Maryrose Roeckell and her fiancé, Jason Donadio of Glen Spey, NY, her son, Nicholas Roeckell and his wife Aracely of Mt. Kisco, NY, 2 sisters, Rosemary Smith and Teresa Murray both of Port Jervis, 2 brothers, Raymond Murray of Upper Montclair, NJ and Walter Murray of E. Sandwich, Mass; 2 grandchildren Elizabeth and Nicole and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother John Murray. A celebration of her life was held Tuesday evening, January 24th. John Edward Aber age 64 of Port Jervis, NY and Malone, NY passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Castle Point Veterans Hospital, Wappingers, NY, after a long illness. He was born on July 23, 1947 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Leon Aber, Sr. and Beatrice M. Parker Aber. John proudly served our country during the Viet Nam War with the U.S. Navy and was a life member of the Tri-State Naval Post #7241, Port Jervis. John was a graduate of Port Jervis High School in 1965 and continued his education at Siena College in Colonie, NY, earning his BA in history. He then entered Oklahoma City University of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor Law Degree and then admitted to the New York State Bar Association. In his early career of law John worked as an assistant to the New York State Attorney General in Albany and was an attorney for the New York State Lottery Commission. He then opened his Law Office in Malone, NY where he practiced for many years. John was very active in his community of Malone, he loved to travel, he enjoyed the art of gambling, watching baseball and was an avid bowler. He was extremely well read and especially enjoyed reading about World Politics and History. John is survived by his 3 daughters, Robin Aber of Portland, Oregon, Jocylyn Aber of Cohoes, NY and Allison Aber of Albany, NY, his grandson, John of Cohoes, 3 brothers, Leon, Donald and William Aber all of Port Jervis and his sister Alice Aber of Clinton, Il, several cousins and close friends. He was born on June 10, 1920 in Narrowsburg, New York , the son of the late John and Julitta Flood Hensz. George proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during WW II. He was the proprietor of Hensz's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Port Jervis for many years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pa.and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #471, Port Jervis. George married Mary Balch Hensz who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter Valorie Zachry and her husband John of Matamoras, Pa., his grandson Steven Hess of Port Jervis, his sister Theresa Tebo of Narrowsburg, NY his sister-in-law Noel Balch of Matamoras and several nieces and nephews. George was pre-deceased by 3 sisters, Ruby Kemble, Florence Roberts and Irene McCooey, and 3 pre-deceased by 3 brothers, John, Arthur and Louis Hensz. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday January 23 at 11 am at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, Penna. Rev. August Ricciardi will be the celebrant. Marianne H. Mason age 82 of Sparrowbush, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Indian River Nursing Home, Granville, NY after a long heroic struggle with severe health issues. Marianne was loved by staff and residents alike because of the pleasant and caring outlook on life that she had, even thru all she endured She will be greatly missed.
Marianne was born on September 15, 1929 in Kingston, New York the daughter of the late Clarkson Steven and Anna (Mack) Holley.
Marianne was a graduate of Port Jervis High School. She lived in Port Jervis until she met and later married her husband Douglas on September 30, 1951. For more than 50 years they resided in Sparrowbush, NY in a home they built together.
Marianne was a devoted wife and mother. She was a homemaker and very talented seamstress, knitter, craftsperson and gardener. She and Douglas loved to travel, and were lucky to have had many good years to enjoy doing so. They especially enjoyed Myrtle Beach, SC where they spent a lot of time. Marianne also had a deep appreciation of nature and loved all creature great and small, many of which were her faithful pets over the years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas. She is survived by her 3 daughters Holly Townsend and her husband Jody of East Arlington, Vermont, Sharon Mason Judge and her husband Roger of Peru Vermont., and Michele Harrington and her husband Keith of Pawlet, VT. She was also blessed with her grandchildren: Leon Townsend, Jared Masker and great granddaughters Ella, Syke Colon Masker and Swan Azure Connely. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Buda of Lady Lake, Florida.

He was an accomplished fine Artist and a Renaissance Man. He was schooled with the Old Masters technique in oils and a perfectionist for detail. Edward painted a Delaware Water Gap scene and this award winning painting is in a permanent public traveling collection. He was also an accomplished Guitar player, loving and singing Folk Music. He attuned St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis and was an active member of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club in Newburgh, NY. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. MATAMORAS……2nd Lt. Kyle J. Mason, USMC, 23, of Avenue M died suddenly Friday, December 9, 2011 in San Diego, CA as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born June 29, 1988 in Port Jervis he is the son of Steven K. Mason of Matamoras and Ann Mason of Stroudsburg, PA. Kyle enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, snowboarding and was an avid weight lifter. He was a member of St. Joseph's Junior Choir in Matamoras, PA. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Boy Scout Troop 77 in Matamoras, PA.
A honor graduate of Delaware Valley High School in 2006, he graduated from Norwich University, Military College of Vermont, Northfield, VT, Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studies in War and Peace in 2010. He was active in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Semper Fidelis Society and Regimental Band. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on May 15, 2010. He was a graduate of Officers Candidate School (OCS) and from The Basic School in Quantico, (TBS) VA. He graduated Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Fort Sill, OK in June of 2011 and was assigned to the 11th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, CA.
Survivors include his Father, Steven K. Mason of Matamoras, Mother, Ann Mason of Stroudsburg, 1 Brother: 1stLt Matthew S. Mason, USMC of Matamoras. His Paternal Grandmother, Lorraine Mason of Matamoras. His Aunt, Juanita and her husband Jack Wilsey of Saugerties. Several other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.
Kyle was pre-deceased by his Grandfather, Conrad "Bud" Mason.

Marlene graduated from Middletown High School, Middletown, NY in 1954, received an Associates Degree from Orange County Community College in 1956 and graduated from Cortland University, Cortland, NY in 1958 with a degree in elementary education. She taught special education in the Finderne School District and also at Gayman Elementary in the Central Bucks County District.

Marlene was an avid reader, enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, her time singing with the Rutgers University Choir and spending time with her loved ones.

Elsie W. Dean (Jeanne) of Hilton Head Island, SC, and formerly of Sparrowbush,NY died Saturday, September 3rd, 2011, with her family and faithful cat, Noel at her side. She was 84. The daughter of the late Edith and Albert Walter, she was born in Queens, NY.
Jeanne married George Niles Dean on August 7, 1949 and moved to the Port Jervis area, later settling in Sparrowbush, NY. Jeanne and George built two businesses, a home where family and friends were welcome to gather and feast on Mom’s fabulous cooking, a legacy of commitment, hard work and love which was passed on to three generations thus far. Jeanne and George then moved to Hilton Head Island upon retirement. Jeanne was predeceased by George exactly 19 years to the date.
Survivors include her three children, David Dean and his wife Michele of Sparrowbush, NY, Sharon Briggs and her husband Allan of Cape Vincent, NY, and Sandra Entrup and her husband Scott of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Six grandchildren, Alyson Rutigliano and her husband Joe, Erin Dean, Scott Briggs, Sarah Peale and her husband Arthur, Dean and Mark Entrup. Three great-grandchildren, Slayton, Riley and Kira Peale. One sister, Edith Walter, nieces Marsha Greenman, Jacqueline Forte, and nephew Matthew Forte.

Ed organized concerts and entertainment for fund raising for local civic and charitable organizations. He was also the recipient of many plaques and trophies for his organizational efforts. Before her teaching career, Donna was formerly a Dental Assistant. A family statement read " Donna dearly loved children, in fact several parents would tell their children when they misbehaved at home, if they didn't behave they could not go to school the next day. The process worked, they immediately started to listen and behave. It only showed how much love they expressed for their teacher." Sis is survived by her son, Robert O. Thomas A. Sharp, born in Port Jervis, NY to Albert and Irene Sharp, passed away September 13, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Surviving him is his wife and partner, Thelma Hunter Sharp. He leaves behind his son, Ross Sharp and his wife, Christine, his daughters, Penny Sharp and Kathleen A Sharp-Green and her husband, Michael. He will be missed by his sister, Jean Pohle, and his nieces and nephews. Tom lived in Port Jervis his entire life, and was retired from Kolmar Laboratories.
Tom, along with Thelma, provided for their family, and gave them a life he could be proud of. He found much joy in his home and garden, and if the Yankees lost occasionally life was good.
Thomas A. Sharp was honorably discharged from the Army of The United States, in which he served his country during World War II. His unit was the Company C, 290th Combat Engineers, which fought battles and campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was especially proud of the Thank-You-America-Certificate he received from the French government in recognition for his participation in battles for the liberation of France. He was one of the four men in the "squad" in the excerpt below: "Special squads under the direction of Capt. Telling, Company Commander, moved suddenly by night to an undisclosed location, waited for an impending heavy fog to develop, thus furnishing greater protection for the men, on their mission, of clearing hundreds of German Shoe Mines and Anti-tank mines, which were preventing the 101st from approaching the river edge for the strategic crossing. On hands and knees, the men, working with break-neck speed and obeying all rules of security, labored throughout the night and until dawn, clearing the path for the waiting 101st. So skillfully was the job completed that no fire was drawn from the enemy, even though they were located in heavy concentration, but a hundred or so yards away."

He was born on April 12, 1942, the son of the late Donald and Betty Gill Addy. Doug proudly served our country with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1960-1972. He retired from the Coast Guard as a Chief Electronics Technician. He later retired from the Maintenance Dept. of the Delaware Valley School System. Johnny Cash VanderWiele age 29 of Lantana Florida and formerly of Port Jervis and Eldred, NY passed away Tuesday September 6, 2011 in Florida. He was born on October 14, 1981, the son of the late Robert I. VanderWiele and Maryann Thiele Collin. Johnny served our country with the U.S. Army from 1999-2000. He was a waiter for the Old Key Lime House Restaurant in West Palm Beach, Florida. A family statement read:
Johnny held an amateur boxing license; completed EMT School, Kick Boxer and
worked with a dog breeder. He fought in the MMA competition. Over the years he has worked in several Restaurants in all positions. Nothing he couldn’t do if he set his mind to it. Johnny worked as a waiter on the waterfront at the Old Key Lime House in Lantana, Florida. He often sent pictures and text messages to say how much he loved his job and,”wish you were here- I’m living in Paradise”.
He loved the ocean, beach, sun, TRANSFORMERS, aviator sunglasses and flip flops. He
made the most of his times with his 2 nephews and niece when he was with them. It didn’t matter if it was swimming, playing video games, taking them to a movie or sitting around a table. There were no rainy days for Johnny.
He was contagious. He would give up his bed, clothes, food or money to make sure the people around him had a good time. His beautiful smile and his heartfelt laugh would turn any frown into a smile. FAMILY was his life. As the phone rings and people stop by we know how much Johnny was Loved. He had so much respect for others and would help anyone in need. We are sad to know we have lost a very special son, bother, uncle, grandson, and friend to the ways of life.

Ryan M. McCann, 24, was taken from us unexpectedly on July 29, 2011. Ryan is the son of Michael and Melissa McCann, of Port Jervis, the brother of Cassandra, Nicole, Joshua, and Cody of Port Jervis, and the father of the beautiful Bryanna McCann and, yes, he snuck his name into hers somehow. He was our devilishly charming, steel-blue eyed, impulsive, wondrously kind-hearted, son, brother, and daddy. You left us without saying goodbye and we miss you tremendously.
He is survived by his family, at home; his grandparents, Harry (Brud) and Elizabeth Lynch, of Port Jervis, William McCann and Nancy Fine-McCann, of Broadway, VA., and Peter Osborne, of Easton, PA; great aunt, Joan Donahue of Port Jervis; aunts and uncles, Susan and Jack Scully, of Eldred, William and Sandy Lynch, of Prunedale, CA, Mary Grace Carlton, of Port Jervis, Patty and Brendan Hess, of Port Jervis, Tom and Gina McCann, of Port Jervis, and Megan McCann, of Broadway, VA; his companion, Kasey Ouellette, of Glen Spey; and numerous cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his special aunt, Marie Perkowski, his uncle, Michael Carlton, and his grandmother, Janis (McCann) Osborne. I’m certain Ryan and Uncle Mike are flying down Aunt Re’s hill on a sled, Aunt Re’s inside making hot chocolate and Grandma J’s writing it all down to work it into the plot of the next Great American novel she’s writing.
Ryan attended Trinity Catholic School through the 6th grade, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School, and Port Jervis High School, where he graduated in 2005. He received a certificate in Basic Residential Electricity from Orange Ulster BOCES, and was last employed at Summit Research Labs in Huguenot, New York. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Jervis where he served as an altar boy, and received his first communion and his confirmation.
Always the inquisitive child, Ryan started out his school career at the age of 5 by pulling the fire alarm to see what it did. He found out quickly when all of the fire trucks arrived. It was the start of a long and lovely relationship with principal Carol Doll, who gave him the honesty award at his 6th grade graduation for always owning up to his mischief. His eyes were as blue as the sky and sparkled whenever he laughed, which we all did when he’d spin one of his grandiose tales. He always had a plan, or a scheme, or an angle that was going to be his ticket to getting out of here and making a better life for himself and his baby girl.
Always the impulsive child, he could run like the wind and often did. Sesame Place, Times Square, Disney World, our house, it didn’t matter, when the train stopped, Ryan jumped off, with or without us. He was kind to a fault and his heart was as bottomless as the ocean. He would do anything for anyone that he thought was his friend (which was pretty much everyone). He always remembered everyone’s birthday (and Christmas) and always found a way to give everyone a gift, even when he wasn’t really able to. He got the clerk to throw in the vase for the chocolate roses for Grandma’s birthday, and negotiated a package price for all 20 roses rather than pay for each one individually.
He loved a family party, and never failed to be the gracious host. His birthdays were a week long event, or so it seemed. One of our favorite memories are of the bread and butter hors d’oeuvres that Ryan painstakingly made and served to everyone at a family Christmas party at the age of about 7. I’m also fairly certain that was about the time he played what is locally the best “Fritz” the Nutcracker has ever seen.
He adored his mother and he was her boy. And he WAS a boy. He would walk across the top of the swing set 10 feet in the air as if it were a tightrope at the circus. To him it was a four lane highway and he was strolling down the middle of it, no fear, not a care in the world. His kindergarten teacher told us he would jump from desktop to desktop to desktop. They were the one-piece, combo desk/chairs that would topple over if you put too many books on them let alone a moving child. He never missed a step or a desktop, landing safely on the other side of the room on an unfortunately regular basis. He was like lightning in a hockey rink, and when he did fall down, his mom always kissed his skinned knees, bandaged his cuts, gave him a hug and a kiss, and forgave him for cross-checking. Ryan, we love you and we hope you’ve found peace.

He was born June 6th, 1949 in Port Jervis,to Walter and Inez Clark Gochenour. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. He was a past Chief and Past Commissioner of the Sparrowbush Dept. He was a member of the VFW in Eldred, N.Y.
David was President of The Mohican Lake Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by
his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky), his son, David and his wife Trinity of Glen Spey

She was born on December 4, 1941 in Calicoon, NY, the daughter of the late Carl E. and Eleanor Williams Vonderhorst. Ann was a retired secretary for Kimley-Horn Associates for 17 years in Virginia Beach, Va. In her later years she was the Acting Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Highland, NY. Ann graduated from Rochester Business Institute and was a member of Professional Secretaries International. Ann always enjoyed her work as a professional secretary in both her careers. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved to knit and embroider, her family and friends have all been recipients of her work. In younger years she loved to go dancing,loved to bowl and loved Disney World. She has also been a friend of Bill W. for over 30 years. Ann loved her family....she loved life, and we will miss her. She was a member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Highland Lake Fire Dept.. Ann is survived by her daughter, Carol May Flynn and her husband Gary of Hurleyville, NY, her son, Nathan Coe Durland, III and his wife Tammy of Keeseville, NY, 6 grandchildren Tara, Shannon, Nathan,Rachel, Kylie, and Colin, her sister, Rev. He was a Supervisor of Structures for the New Jersey Transit Railroad, a Fire Chief for 13 years with the Lumberland Fire Company, former Boy Scout Leader, Little League Manager, a former member of the Elks Lodge in Port Jervis, NY and the Moose Lodge in Spring Hill, Fl, and Methodist by faith. Gary enjoyed golfing, fishing, and remained a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and the NY Mets.

He was predeceased by his father: William E. Frey and brother: William C. Frey. Arthur W. Smith age 91 of Port St. Lucie, Florida and life-long resident of Port Jervis, NY passed away on June 9, 2011 at Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was born on September 18, 1919 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late Arthur and Emma Walter Smith. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served our country during WW II with the 150th Combat Engineers. He was a life member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks # 645 B.P.O. E. and a Life Member of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis. Art had started his Plumbing and Heating contracting business in 1955 and then added a Kitchen and Bath remodeling business in 1968. His son, Tom joined him in business in 1974. In the early 80's they purchased Reliable Plumbing & Heating, a plumbing wholesale and contracting business in Middletown, NY. Art retired in the early 90's after selling the Middletown business. He was proud that his son Tom, continued the Port Jervis Plumbing & Heating business, now in it's 56th year. His daughter-in-law Debbie, manages the Kitchen & Bath Remodeling business.
Art Married Beatrice Merkenschlager Smith, who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Emily C. Zumpano and her husband Francis, of South Windsor, Ct., his son, Thomas A. Smith and his wife Debora Valentine of Montague, NJ, his sister Virginia Vaglia of Haymarket VA, 4 grandchildren, Adrien Raffia, Amy Short, Gretchen Brown & Erica Billups, 8 great grandchildren, Lauren and Kristen Raffia, Conor and Kaley Short, Ellie and Caleb Brown, Paige and Deacon Billups and several nieces and nephews. Anneliese "Lisa" Lepom was born July 19, 1915 in Krefeld, Germany. Later she and her family immigrated to Canada and then to America, settling in Port Jervis, NY.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Eugen Lepom. She is survived by three daughters: Monique Bade and husband, Bruce, Heide DeVore and husband, Richard and Brigitte Hessberger and husband, Ralph; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Anneliese was an accomplished pianist and artist. Many of her award winning paintings are still displayed throughout Germany and also in the homes of her family.
The family will gather on Wednesday, June 22 at The Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, NY. A private prayer service will be held with Pastor Ann Rost officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery.
