MARY E. (MYSLINSKI), SOUTH CENTERVILLE, NEW YORK AND FORMERLY OF SUSSEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEY


Mary E. (Myslinski) Previti age 88 of South Centerville and formerly  of Sussex County, New Jersey passed away  at Highland Rehabilitation, Middletown, NY on November 25, 2015.  She was born on February 26, 1927  the daughter  of John and Carrie Bastek Myslinski.  The middle child  of the family's ten children, she was born in Wantage,  New Jersey.  In 1947, Mary married Joseph Previti. They lived in Hamburg, NJ until his death in 1983.  She moved to Sussex, NJ where she lived for 30 years.  Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Theresa Wieboldt and her husband Hon. Gregory Wieboldt of Greenville.  Also from Greenville are her grandchildren William Wieboldt and his companion Lacey Little, Richard Wieboldt and his wife  Megan. Mary derived  great joy from her great grandchildren; Olivia, Hannah and Silas. Mary's son John Previti and his wife MaryAnn reside in Massachusetts and have daughters, Mercedes, Jill and Zana.  Mary is survived by her sister, Martha Vincent of Forestport, NY, her brother John Myslinski of Wantage, NJ and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Jenny Zebrowski, Edith Slesinki, Lucille Gaba, Henrietta Myslinksi, Chester, Edward and Zigmont Myslinski.  Visitation will be held Monday, November 30  from 4-7 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM, Monday at the funeral home.  Rev. Gregory Kelly will officiate. Private interment will take place, Tuesday, December 1, at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Hardyston Township, New Jersey.  Rev. William Collins will officiate. In lieu of flowers  memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Sussex County Library, Sussex Wantage Branch, 69 Route 639, Wantage, NJ  07461. JAMES C. DeGROAT, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

James C. DeGroat age 45 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 due to respiratory failure caused by complications of lymphoma at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was born on September 26, 1970 in Port Jervis, the son of Edward and Charity Hulse McCraven DeGroat. James worked for Montague Blacksmith in Port Jervis.  He is survived by his wife Patti Jennings DeGroat  at home,  his son David J. DeGroat and his wife Geena of Hagerstown, MD, his two daughters, Nikkole DeGroat and her fiancé  Steven Hess of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Sarah DeGroat and her fiancé James Ordway, Jr. of Port Jervis, his father Edward DeGroat of Port Jervis, his mother Charity McCraven and her husband Wayne of Concord, NC, His  two sisters April Chastain and her husband Jerry and Lisa Threadgill all of Concord, NC, two grandchildren Christopher and Savannah DeGroat, his mother and father-in-law  Marilyn and John Jennings of Port Jervis, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of  many friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister-in-law Donna Graziano. James was a"social expert" and a facebook guru.  He  enjoyed people and lived to make others laugh. He was a true family man. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, December 5, from 1-4 PM a the Erie Trackside, Port Jervis.  Rev. Butch Gilpin will officiate. MATILDA M. GRECH, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Matilda M. Grech, age 88, of Port Jervis, NY passed away in Port Jervis on Thursday, November 19, 2015, among family. Matilda was born on  October 20, 1927 in Bagnoli, Italy, the daughter of Annibale Ialungo ("Talingo") and Angelina Borrelli Ialungo ("Talingo"). She was an accomplished artist and art teacher. Her introduction to watercolor came through her studies at Art Students League with Bernard Klonis. She then studied with John Pike, Edgar Whitney, Coulton Waugh, and numerous others. Her own teaching experience spanned nearly forty years and hundreds of students while conducting watercolor workshops for the Arts Council of Orange County. She continued to conduct private workshops locally. Matilda had juried and demonstrated for art organizations in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Her paintings have been exhibited in the National Arts Club, Pen and Brush Club, Hall of Fame of the Trotters' Museum, Morris Museum, Monmouth Museum and elsewhere. She had received dozens of awards and honorable mentions from 1983 until present. Matilda was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Port Jervis. She was a member of the Pen and Brush Club of NYC, the Hudson Valley Art Assoc. of White Plains, NY, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, the Middletown Art Group of NY; a life member of the Art Students League of NYC; a charter member of the North East Watercolor Society of Orange County, NY; a member of the Board of Directors of the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club of NYC, and Pike County Arts & Crafts of PA.  Matilda has conducted solo exhibits at the Library at the US Military Academy, West Point; Orange County Community College, Middletown; the Unitarian Meeting House, Rock Tavern; the Fred Waring Art Gallery, Stroudsburg, PA; and the Arts Council of Orange County Gallery, Middletown. She married  Russell M. Grech who predeceased her. She is survived by her three sons, Michael Grech of Middletown, Russell Grech, Jr. of NYC, and Peter Grech of Port Jervis; her two sisters, Mary Perrella of Allen Park, MI, and Antoinette McKean of Santa Maria, CA; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty Jean and Alexander Grech, Jr. of Port Jervis; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Stephen Grech. A celebration of Matilda's life will be held 1-4 P.M. Sunday, Dec. 6 at The Foundation Room, The Columns Museum, 608 Broad Street, Milford PA, where works of her art will be on display. EDWARD "UNCLE ED" TALMADGE
April 25, 1937 - November 20, 2015
Port Jervis, NY
Edward "Uncle Ed" Talmadge, age 78 of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis.
He was born on April 25, 1937 in Port Jervis, NY the son of Howard and Harriet Ryerson Talmadge.  
Ed retired as a construction worker for Union Local 17, Newburgh, NY.
He married Rachel Carter  Talmadge who survives at home. He is also survived by his three daughters: Michelle Mussolini and her husband, Daniel Milewski of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Bridget Perrucci and her husband, Robert of Port Jervis, Lori Schock and her husband, Alan of Huguenot; his sons: Brian Talmadge  and his wife, Jamie of Port Jervis, Edward Hughson  and his fiance, Jessica of Huguenot; his brother, Walter Talmadge and his wife, Vera of Matamoras, PA; several grand children; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his son, Gregory Talmadge; his brothers: Richard, Howard, Jay and Michael Talmadge, and his sister, Ann Hughson.
Ed loved to have a good time, he enjoyed sports, travel, fishing and sitting on his porch. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, November, 27th at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst will officate.

REV. RICHARD T. HOTZLER, POND EDDY, NEW YORK

Rev. Richard T. Hotzler age 85  of Pond Eddy, NY went to be with our Lord Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Castle Point VA Medical Ctr., Wappingers, NY.  He was born on September 18, 1930 in Maspeth, NY the son of Charles and Ada Smith Hotzler.  Richard proudly served our country with the US Army during the Korean War with Cold War Occupation Forces in West Germany.  After serving over five years of military service, he was first employed  by Dean Phillips Stores in Port Jervis.  He then worked at Modern Homes Corporation leaving as General Foreman of Production when the corporation moved to Dearborn, Michigan. He began working for Federal Service employed by the US Rail-Mail Service and was transferred to the Monticello Distribution Center when the rail-mail was terminated.   At Monticello, he attained various positions retiring as Postmaster after 37 years of service.  He was appointed  to the position of Code Enforcement officer for the Town of Lumberland retiring after 18 years of service. He also  served as a member of the Town Planning Board and the Town of Lumberland Cemetery Committee.  Richard  was very civic minded and involved in his community.  He was a life long member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist  Church.  He served the Eldred Congregational Church as a lay speaker and then served as Pastor of the church for 43 years.  He was a charter member and two-time president of the Lumberland Lions Club and Lumberland Seniors.  He was a life member of the American Legion Post #1363, Eldred, NY, the Roosa-Fleming  V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis,  the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645 B.P.O.E. and the AARP.  He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Irmgard  Durr Hotzler; his daughters Karin Obolewicz and her husband David of Bow, New Hampshire, Susan Hotzler of LaGrangeville, NY, Heidi North and her husband Jim of Gilbert, AZ; his grandchildren, Jason Meehan and his wife Jenny, Nicole Carino and her husband Davie, Laura and Ryan Obolewicz and Lucas North; great grandchildren Anthony and Eva Carino, Landon and Jocelyn Meehan.  He is also survived by his brothers Butch Hotzler and his wife Ginny of Canton, NY, Harry Hotzler and his wife Bette of Melbourne, Fla., his sister Eileen of Milford, PA, his sisters-in-law, Ilse Schafer and her husband Heinz and Herta Herbold all of Germany, including several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 27 from 2-4 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Funeral services will be held  11AM Saturday, November 28 at the Eldred Congregational Church, Eldred, NY.  Rev. Sue Storms will officiate. ROBERT L. "BOBBY" SORENSEN, HUGUENOT, NEW YORK

Robert L. "Bobby" Sorensen age 21 of Huguenot, NY  died  Monday, November 16, 2015 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.  He was born on  March 21, 1994 in Port Jervis, NY the son of  Edward and Elizabeth Bridau Sorensen.  Bobby was employed by the Times-Herald Record in Middletown, NY.  He is survived by his parents  Edward and Elizabeth Sorensen of Huguenot; his two brothers Nicholas and Christopher Sorensen both of Huguenot.  He attended St. Mary's School and  was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 12th at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY.  Rev. JOAN J. CONKLIN, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Joan J. Conklin age 82 of Port Jervis, NY passed away  Sunday,  November 15, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY.  She was born on  August 28, 1933 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of  William and Christianna  Livingston Flieger.  Joan married Raymond J. Conklin who pre-deceased her.  She is survived by her three sons, Darius Conklin and his wife Patti of Port Jervis, Brad Conklin and his companion Rose of  Opp, Alabama, Brian Conklin and his companion  Irene of Yulan,, her  three daughters,  Korinne Thorpe of Port Jervis Colleen “Coe” Hammond and her husband Richard of Sparrowbush, Cheryl Olver and her husband Russell of Milford, PA, 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her  granddaughter Jennifer Conklin, her sisters Velma Trotta, Frances Amato  and her brothers Russell and  William Flieger.  Graveside services will be 2 PM , Friday, November 20, at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.  Rev. KATHLEEN L. SCHMICK, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Kathleen L. Schmick age 65 of Port Jervis, NY passed away  Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, PA.  She was born January 15, 1950  in Port  Jervis, NY the daughter of  Alan and Corcelia Decker Utter.  Kathleen is survived by her two sons Kevin Schmick of Matamoras, PA and Todd Schmick of Middletown, NY, her sisters  Alana Talmadge of Montague, NJ, and Julie Morgan, her three brothers Joseph Morgan of Monticello, Gregory  Decker of Port Jervis and Jeffrey Morgan her three grandchildren Joshua Schmick, Jessica Campbell and Richard Campbell, III,  three great grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Natalynn.  She is also survived by her long time soul mate Jimmy Hutchinson and several nieces and nephews.  Kathleen was pre-deceased by her daughter Donna Campbell, her brother David Morgan and her sister Linda Utter. DORIS M. SHEVLIN, MONTAGUE, NEW JERSEY

Doris M. Shevlin age 89 of Montague, New Jersey died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, PA.  She was born  in Port Jervis, NY on  July 16, 1926 the daughter of  Charles and Ruth Norris VanGorder.  Doris was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Tri-State Naval Post #7241 in Port Jervis.  She was also a member of the  Montague Historical Society and the Montague Crafters. She married Robert E. Shevlin who pre-deceased her.  Doris is survived by her  daughter Nancy Juarez and her husband  Jeffrey  of Corinth, Texas, her two sons, Donald Shevlin of Hawaii and K.C. Shelving of Montague ,NJ, her seven grandchildren,  Donald, Robert,  Desiree,  Melissa, Michael, Patrick and James, her daughter-in-law, Janet Shevlin of Port Jervis, several great grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by her  daughter Barbara Shevlin and her son Richard P. Shevlin . Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 PM  at the Minisink Reformed Church Cemetery, Montague, NJ.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port  Jervis, NY  12771. DAVID L. BICCUM, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA


David L. Biccum age 64 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania  passed away  Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover, New Jersey after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born on  February 13, 1951 in Port Jervis, NY the son of Delbert Biccum and the late  Alma Norris Biccum.  David worked as a developmental disabilities aide  for the Hudson Valley D.D.S.O. He was a member of the United  Methodist Church of Matamoras.  David married Maude "Trudy"  Engvaldsen Biccum who survives at home.  He is also survived by his  two daughters Rebecca and Emily Biccum both at home, his father Delbert Biccum of Port Jervis, his two brothers Gary Biccum and his wife  Debbie of Glen Spey, NY and Daniel Biccum of Port Jervis, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Alan  Joseph Biccum.  Memorial services will be held  2 PM, Saturday, November 14, at the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, 209 Ave H, Matamoras, PA 18336.  Rev. AGNES "LYNN" CLARK, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK


Agnes “Lynn” Clark age 70 of Port Jervis, NY passed away peacefully, on her birthday, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of  Laurence and Alice Goodspeed Murray. Lynn worked as a quality control inspector at Andmore Sportswear and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis.  

She is survived by her mother, Alice Murray of Port Jervis, her two daughters Sheila Clark of Unionville, NY and Laura Clark and her wife Stephanie of Lawrenceburg,Tenn., Her sister Kathy Pope and her husband Dennis of Port Jervis, her brother Laurence J. Murray and his wife Diane of Phoenix, Arizona, her Uncle Robert Murray Sr. of Port Jervis, three grandchildren Stephen, Alexa and Jakob, Two great grandchildren, who she called “Nan-nan’s little men”, Stevie and Benjamin, and several nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her dog, Neela, a wonderful companion who always brought a smile to her face.

Family was most important to Lynn, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the greatest joy of her life.

Lynn was pre-deceased by her father, Laurence Murray, and her son-in-law, Harry Clark. 

A Memorial  Mass of the Resurrection  will be held Monday, November 9th at 11AM at the Grace Episcopal Church 84 Seward Ave., Port Jervis.  Rev. David Lee Carlson will be the celebrant.

ESTHER G. COOPER, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Esther G. Cooper age 97, of Port Jervis, New York, passed peacefully away Saturday eveningOctober 31, 2015 at Julia Ribaudo health care facility, Lake Ariel, Pa. She was born August 2, 1918 in Port Jervis, N.Y. the daughter of Frank M. and Beatrice R. Griffin. 
Esther worked as a bookkeeper for Zalinger Buick in Port Jervis. She was a life member of the River Valley O.E.S. and a member of the Amaranth Laurel Court #58 of Port Jervis.
Esther was pre deceased by her first husband William J. Slaughter jr., her second husband Roswell"Ross" Cooper, her son William J. Slaughter lll, and her granddaughter Amanda M. Purington. 
She is survived by her two daughters, Doris S. Purington and Pamela J. Slaughter both of Maine. Her two step-daughters, Connie Mazza and Alyson Grathwohl. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her daughter-in- law Margaret Hankins Slaughter.

WILLIAM C. LAMOREAUX, MILFORD, PENNSYLVANIA

William C. Lamoreaux age 75 of Milford, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home.  He was born on January 31, 1940 in Port Jervis, NY the son of William J. and Marion Cuddeback Lamoreaux.  Bill worked  for the probation department of the Morris County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at Mount Arlington, New Jersey.  He is survived by his daughter Robin Lamoreaux of Milford, Pennsylvania, his son Dane Lamoreaux of Pennsylvania, his grandchildren Joshua, Andrew, Daniel and several nieces and nephews.  Bill is also survived by his former wife Barbara Lippincott. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Kay Aschoff and Phyllis Lamoreaux and his brother Wilton “Abby” Lamoreaux.  Services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made tot he Pike County Humane Society, PO Box 255, Milford, Pennsylvania 18337.
