LUCILLE M. SMITH, MATAMORAS, PENNSYLVANIA

Lucille M. Smith, age 89 of Matamoras, PA died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, PA.  She was born on July 24, 1925 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late James and Alice Clark Skelenger. Lucille retired as an assistant manager for Sears Store in Port Jervis.  She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, and a member of the Alter & Rosary Society of the church.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tri-States Naval Ship #7241 and a former girl scout leader.  Lucille married Donald L. Smith who pre-deceased her in 2005.  She is survived by her daughter, Susan P. Strechay and her husband Robert of Parsippany, NJ, her three grandchildren, Robert J. Strechay, Jr. and his wife Kristen, Daniel Strechay and his wife Kathryn, Joseph Strechay and his wife Jennifer, four great grandchildren, Samuel, Lauren, Nathaniel and William, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was pre-deceased by her four sisters, Irene Gonda, Alice Lynch, Catherine Gregg, Dorothy Soup, and two brothers Jackie and James Skelenger.  Visitation will be held Monday, February 2, from 2-6 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.  Prayers will be offered Tuesday, February 3, at 10:15 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA.  Rev. JANET ANN CHERRY, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Janet Ann Cherry age 85 of Port Jervis, NY died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Middletown Park Manor Health Care Center, Middletown, NY.

She was born August 10, 1929 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of Frank C. and Martha Ellison of Montague, NJ  She married Edwin P. Cherry of Port Jervis who predeceased her, in addition to her brother, Frank C. Ellison Jr. who also predeceases her.

Janet worked at Kolmar Labs, H & M Knitting Mills and Andmore Sportswear, all in Port Jervis before retiring. She was also known for making a wedding gown or two. 

Janet was a loving wife, devoted mother and will be missed by her family and many dear friends. 

She is survived by her daughters: Janet L. Randolph and her husband, David of Port Jervis and their son, Jason Randolph of Pond Eddy, NY; Jill Mason and her husband, John of Port Jervis and their daughters: Jessica Scheid of Saginaw, TX, Jo Ellen Smith of Fulton, NY and Jenny Mason of Graham NC; her sister, Anna May Petitti and her husband, Julio of Port Jervis and sister-in-law, Agnes Ellison of Montague, NJ; her beloved friend, Ed Worzel of Port Jervis; several great grandchildren: Chandler and Emma Walkenbach, Holynn Pederson, Haley and Shannon Scheid, Molly Elizabeth Smith, Chase and Camryn Randolph; numerous family members of Edwin P. Cherry; Alice Card's, Edith Startup's, Elaine Murphy's, Kathy Martin's, Phyllis Spiegel's, Joyce Kuen's, Earl, Jacob and Allan Cherry's families. 

A Family Statement reads: "Janet and Edwin Cherry, two persons who lived and worked side by side in their commitment to each other, built a warm home and a loving family through their strengths of devotion, patience, determination and love. May they join each other again side-by-side in spirit and soul for eternal peace."

A special thank you goes to the Staff members of Unit 6 of Park Manor Health Care Center, for their compassion and devotion to their patients and their families.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" SCHUTZ, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Elizabeth "Betty" Schutz age 88 of Port Jervis, NY died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was born on  August 12,1926 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Conroy Maloney. She proudly served our country as a WAVE with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Betty retired as an administrative assistant for the Port Jervis School District.  She also worked for Dr. Paul Horseman Dentistry, in Port Jervis.  Betty was a faithful member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, and a member of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis.  She married Henry "Hank" Schutz who survives at home.  Betty is also survived by her four sons, Gary Morgan and his wife Jane of Plant City, Florida, Harold Morgan and his wife Karla of Powder Springs, Georgia, Jon Schutz of Port Jervis, William Schutz and his wife Donna of Matamoras, PA, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.  Visitation will be held Thursday, January 22, from 3-5 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E.  Main St.,Port Jervis, NY.  Prayers will be offered Friday, January 23 at 1:45 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 PM at St. Mary's R. MICHELE "MISSY" TABAKA-LEMPKA, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Michele "Missy" Tabaka-Lempka age 46 of Port Jervis, NY died  Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Morristown  Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ. She was born on July 24, 1968 in Sussex, NJ, the daughter of Lance R. W. Tabaka and Helen M. Gunderman Hanser.  Michele worked as a certified nursing assistant at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY.  She is a member of the American Cancer Society Organization. Michele married Timothy Lempka,  her loving husband who survives at home.  She is also survived by her parents, Joseph and Helen Hanser of Matamoras, PA, her father, Lance R.W. Tabaka of  Harford,PA, her sister Renee Tabaka and brother Lance R. Tabaka both of Matamoras, PA, several aunts, uncles cousins, a host of special friends and her loving pet dog Blu, whom Michele considered her nephew, always maintaining his loyalty and love towards her.  Michele's family knows their "Angel on Earth is now an Angel in Heaven." Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, from 10:30-11:30 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. RUDOLPH GENEROSO TESTA, GLEN SPEY, NEW YORK

Rudolph Generoso Testa, age 87 of Glen Spey, NY died  Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center, Campbell Hall, NY.  He was born on March 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Pellegrino and Giovannina "Jennie" La Magna Testa.  Rudy proudly served our country during WW II with the US Merchant Marines and the US Navy.  He  worked as an assembler for General Motors Corp., in Tarrytown, NY.  He was a lifetime member of the Tusten-Highland-Lumberland VFW Post #6427.  He was an Honor Flight participant  in September 2013 with Veterans from all over the Hudson Valley.  He was a former member of the Lumberland Lions Club.  Rudy married  Betty Compton Testa who survives at home.  He is also survived by his children, Dr. Mark Testa and his wife Debra of Voorhees, NJ, Lt. Col., USAF, Michael Testa and his wife Lizbeth of Keller, TX, Judy Gumaer Testa and her companion David Gallo of Westbrookville, NY; Donna Testa Lynch and her husband A. James of Tinton Falls, NJ, William Thomas and his wife Diane of Mt. Clemens, MI, Joseph Thomas at home, Donald Thomas and his companion Debbie of Pittsburg, PA, Rudolph Testa, Jr.  and his wife Donna of Gibson, PA., Frances Maginley of Dalton, PA, Pamela Testa of Throop, PA and Jodie Pharr and her husband Gary of Tunkhannock, PA., two brothers, Liborio Testa of Seaford, NY, Albert Testa and his wife Joan of Bellmore, NY, his sister Mildred D'Auria of Bellmore, NY, 25 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Cosimo Testa and sisters Louise Cataldo, Lucia Testa & Elli Citrangola. Visitation will be held Monday, January 19 from 10am-12 noon at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. GEORGE RINK, JR., SPARROWBUSH, NEW YORK

George Rink, Jr., age 89 of Sparrowbush, NY died Sunday, January 11,2015 at Middletown Park Manor.  He was born on November 16, 1925 in New York City, NY, the son of the late George and Mathilde Hundermark Rink. George proudly served our country at the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge  with the artillery unit of the US Army during WWII. He  enjoyed working with stone and worked as a mason with the  Local #5, Union in Newburgh, NY.  He married Beverley A. Koenig  Rink who pre-deceased him in 1993. He is survived by his two sons,  Robert G. Rink and his wife  Emily of Sparrowbush,  Gary J. Rink and his wife Maria of Sparrowbush. His beloved grandchildren Michael G., Kyle J, and Sara M. Rink, his sisters-in-law Loretta Buchanan, Linda Otto, and Beth Emerson, brothers-in-law  Robert Emerson and Lawrence Koenig. he was pre-deceased by his brother Carl  Rink and his brothers-in-law Carl Buchanan, Sr. and Russell Otto. BERNARD J. CLUNE, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Bernard J. Clune, age 86 of Port Jervis, NY died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, PA. He was born on October 31, 1928 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Thomas A. and Mary L. Rotzler Clune. Bernard served with the United States Air Force from 1946-1968,retiring as Master Sgt. He worked in ground communication maintenance at Stewart Air Force Base, Newburgh, NY. Bernard graduated from the RCA School of Technology. He became an educator at the school of instruction for security service with the Air Force. Upon retirement from the US Air Force, Bernard worked as a switchman for General Telephone Co. at Middletown, NY. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #471, Port Jervis. Bernard married Margaret Lee Kahn Clune who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Talmadge and her husband Keith of Simpsonville, S.C., several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Kathryn and Marie Clune and his brothers, Leo and Thomas Clune. VISITATION will be held MONDAY , January 12, from 3-5 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. BARBARA B. COLE, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Barbara B. Cole age 79 of Port Jervis, NY entered into peace on Monday, January 5, 2015 at her home surrounded by family and friends.  She was born June 16, 1935 in East Stroudsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Herbert and Elaine Eshback Bensley. Barbara grew up in Milford, PA and lived in Montague, NJ, Port Jervis and Stroudsburg, PA.  She retired as an assistant controller for accounts receivable from Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis after 37 years of service.  Barbara was always grateful for her wonderful, caring staff and always cherished their friendship through the years.  After her retirement she enjoyed working as a hostess at the Wine Press Inn, the Stroudsburg Inn, Garfield's Restaurant of Stroudsburg, and Perkins Restaurant in Matamoras, PA.  Barbara attended St. Luke's RC Church in Stroudsburg, PA. She is survived by her adoring sons,  Richard J. "Punky" Cole of Montague, NJ, Mark E.Cole and his wife Rose of Saugerties, NY, her granddaughter Cheyenne of Billings, Montana, nephew Jeff Stasa and his wife Kim,  their sons, Travis and Quinn all of Nazareth, PA, her niece Debra Stasa of Macungie, PA.  She was pre-deceased by her sister,  Joan Stasa and her former husband Richard J. Cole. Barbara was a loving mother, wife, sister and aunt.  Family meant everything to her and she was  extremely  proud of her children and grandchild.  She always maintained a positive  outlook on life, always displaying her great sense of humor, always laughing, and flashing her wonderful smile.  She was blessed  with many friends and valued these relationships through the years always willing and able to help anyone in need with a kind word, warm smile and embrace.  Barbara placed high values on education, and hard work.  She was independent, adventurous, loved to travel, decorate, cook and  wear nice clothing.  Mom was rich in love and her greatest gift from God was  finding joy in life by opening and sharing her heart with her family and friends. DOROTHY A. DAY, WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA, FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Dorothy A. Day age 86 of Wilmington, North Carolina and formerly a life-long resident of Port Jervis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 3, 2015. She died at the home of her daughter, Nancy in Wilmington.  Dorothy was born on  May 30, 1928 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late  William H. and Dorothy Eidel Kirschner.  She was a former member of the Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis and a life time  member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tri-State Naval Post  #7241 in Port Jervis.  Dorothy married Robert E. Day, who survives at home.  She is also survived by her sons, Robert N. Day and his wife Patricia of Bend, Oregon,  Thomas J. Day of St. Robert, Missouri, her daughter Nancy Day White and her husband David of Wilmington, North Carolina, her sister Betty Smith of Port Jervis, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her sister, Jean Moglia. BERYLE HESTER SEYMOUR, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK, OTISVILLE, NEW YORK


 
Beryle Hester Seymour age 89 of Port Jervis and Otisville, NY died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Middletown, NY.  She was born on March 5, 1925 in Lake Como, PA, the daughter of the late  Fred C. and Edith May Bigelow Myer. Beryle worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Seymour Bottle Gas in Otisville, after her retirement she was a caregiver for her dear friend, Oscar B. Greenleaf for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always was there for everyone.  Her faith meant  a lot to her, she was  a member of the Holy Name R.C. Church in Otisville, a Eucharistic Minister and Sunday School teacher 30 years.  She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, above all she enjoyed spending time  visiting her family and friends.   Beryle married  Vincent J. Seymour, (Chief electrician for the Army Corps Engineers at West Point, NY) who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her  children, James E. Seymour of Port Jervis, Kenneth D. Seymour of Topeka, Kansas, Kathleen D. Biesele and her husband James of the Town of Greenville, NY, Laura E. Lust of Otisville, Timothy P. Seymour and his wife Margaret of Otisville, Peter M. Seymour and his wife Laurine of Otisville, her siblings, Howard I. Meyer of Rochester, NY, Evangeline L. Niekamp of West Hurley, NY, Laura A. VanDeusen of Garner, NC, Fred C. Myer, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Richard E. Myer of Eureka, KS, 13 grandchildren, Andrew, Sherri, Phillip, Bridget, Kenny, Tommy, Sarah, Michael, Kira, Shannon, Eben, Chris, Peter, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her son, Vincent Thomas Seymour,  her sisters, Edith H. Jean M. Schoonover, age 78 of Port Jervis, NY, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. She was born on October 5, 1936 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late John and Pauline Prussia Pratschler.Jean retired as a bank teller from M & T Bank in Port Jervis. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. She enjoyed crocheting, making many beautiful items for her family and friends. Jean married Claude V. Schoonover, who pre-deceased her.She is survived by her sister, Karen Flynn and her husband, Jack of Sparrowbush; her nephew, Dr. John F. Flynn, Jr. of Hartford, CT; several cousins and her very special friend, Mary Ann Peters of Milford, PA. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. CHARLES H. "CHUCK" MYERS, ELDRED, NEW YORK

Charles H. "Chuck" Myers age 88 of Eldred, NY died  Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his home. He was born on February 18, 1926 in Eldred, NY, the son of the late Archibald and Minnie Sergeant Myers. Chuck  proudly served our country during WW II with the US Army.  He retired as Commissioner of the Sullivan County Department of Public Works in Monticello, NY.  He was a faithful member of the Eldred Congregational Church, and served as a Trustee, Deacon and Treasurer  of the Church. He was a member,  adjutant, treasurer and Past Commander of the the Eldred American Legion Post #1363. He was a charter member,  treasurer and Past Captain of the Eldred American Legion Vol. Ambulance Corp. He was a life member, Past Chief and fire police of the Yulan Fire Dept.  He was an avid collector of miniature ambulances and enjoyed displaying them at Bon Secours Community Hospital and  sharing how he acquired them to his many friends. Chuck married  Ruth B. Worzel, who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his son, Robert Myers and his wife Elizabeth of Shohola, PA, his granddaughter Wendy Myers and her husband  David of Shohola, two great grandchildren, Adam J. Myers and Aubrie J. Myers.   Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at  1 PM at the Eldred Congregational Church, Eldred, NY.  Rev. Private services were held for Alfred "Dutch" Dorer, who died January 1, 2015, at age 80.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris, son Randy, daughter Sharon (Kevin) Brophy, daughter Kris (Glenn) Thornton, and granddaughters Shaelyn, and Meagan Thornton.
