William J. Hartwell, Sr., age 73 of Greentown, Penna. and formerly life-long resident of Port Jervis, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Hospice Community Care Ctr. in Dunmore, PA. Bill was born on September 19, 1939 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Raymond and Josephine Young Hartwell. In his earlier years he worked for Martin Walters, Millinery Display Mfg., in Port Jervis. He then worked for many years at the Spangenberg-Wilbert Vault Co, in Port Jervis and later as a school bus driver for the Port Jervis School System, until his retirement. He was a member, Deacon and Elder of the Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis and served on the consistory of the church. He was also a former member of the Neversink Engine Co., #1, Port Jervis Fire Dept.. Bill married Diane Startup Hartwell on August 25, 1962, celebrating 51 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Diane at home, his son William J. Hartwell, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Milford, PA, 2 grandsons, Timothy and Matthew and his granddaughter Morgan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara A. Baird, age 73 of Manning, South Carolina and formerly long time resident of Port Jervis, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Matamoras, PA. She was born on May 19, 1940 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late James and Anna Weaver McGaw. Barbara retired as a Deputy City Clerk for the City of Port Jervis. She married William Kevin Baird, who pre-deceased her on July 22, 2008. Barbara is survived by her two sons, James Baird and his wife Barbara of Lake City, SC, and Jeffrey Baird and his wife Christine of Matamoras, her daughter, Wendy Hancock and her husband Wayne of Greeleyville, SC, 2 sisters, Patricia Anderson and her husband John of Port Jervis, and Mary Lou Aumick and her husband Clare of Port Jervis, her brother James McGaw, Jr. of Port Jervis, 4 grandchildren, Mitchell Gardner, III, William Gardner, Mary and Tom Baird, five step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her special son-in-law, Mitchell Gardner, Jr. , she was pre-deceased by her sister-in-law Marianne McGaw. Richard C. Aidala of Matamoras, PA passed away at home in the arms of his wife with his loving daughters at his side. Rich was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the lateRichard Aidala and the late Jean Puma Aidala.
Rich served in the Army Reserves as a corpsman working in the VA Hospital in Bronx, NY. He served paraplegics returningfrom Vietnam. After the reserves, Rich worked as a civilian for the US Navy as a projectionist. Rich then opened two movietheaters of his own, St. Marks Cinema in NYC and Park Slope Cinema in Park Slope, Brooklyn. After selling the theaters,Rich built his dream home from the ground up, a log cabin in Shohola, PA. Always dreaming of owning a restaurant, Rich and his two partners then opened Lido Bar & Restaurant on Restaurant Row in New York City. For the past 26 years, Rich worked for the Museum of the Moving Image as Chief Projectionist and Audio Visual Technician. He was considered a master at his craft, which reflects how he lived his life.
Rich was a very intelligent, caring, loving man who doted on his wife and three daughters.He married the girl next door and theycame come close to celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary. His girls were his pride and joy and did not compare to any of his other life achievements. Nothing gave him more pleasure than cooking for his girls. His kitchen was a diner where he whipped up anything requested at any time. Friends and family never left hungry when leaving the Aidala home. Rich loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He loved being on the water whether it was the Delaware River, Montauk, theOuterbanks, or the Jersey Shore. He always had a fishing pole ready.
Rich is survived by his wife, Jayne Adamo-Aidala and his three daughters, Rachele A. Aidala of Brooklyn, NY, Aimee A. Aidala of Philadelphia, PA and Christina A. Aidala, of Matamoras, PA. Rich also leaves behind his sister Suzanne J.Erbe and her husband Dave of Emmaus, PA, his sister-in-law, Kathryn A. Levy of Milford, PA, his brother-in-law, Vincent J.Adamo and his wife Debbie of Palenville, NY and his sister-in-law Laura A. Dustin of Chicago, IL. Rich leaves behind his nephews David Erbe, Andrew Levy and his wife Deanna, Joshua Dustin, John Adamo, and David Dustin. Rich also leaves behind his nieces Kristin Young and her husband Brian,KarynGouger and her husband Christopher, Elayna Levy, and his Goddaughter Sarah Adamo. Rich is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Dalton and Adyson Young, Jonathan and Emily Gouger, and Ethan and Taylor Levy. Rich also leaves behind his brother-in-friendship and fishing buddy, PaulDilger and his wife Cindy of Shohola.
Rich was a lifetime member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 306 and the Knights of Columbus, Council 4541. Peter J. Pecirillo, age 88, of Port Jervis,NY, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was born on January 20, 1925 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Victor and Stella DeAngelo Piccirillo. Pete was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal System in Port Jervis. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis and a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645 B.P.O.E. Peter married Mary E. Monahan Pecirillo, who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Cacchione of Sparrowbush, NY, his granddaughter Meghann Davis and her husband Christopher of Port Jervis, two great grandchildren, Jack and Emily Davis, and several nieces and nephews. Philip K. Felter, age 58 of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Ctr., Middletown, NY. He was born on February 28, 1955 in Port Jervis, the son of Donald E. and Dorothy Palmeri Felter. Phil was a toll collector for the New York State Thruway Authority at Harriman, NY and a former manager of the circulation dept. for the Times Herald Record. He was also the former owner of the Orange Street Market in Port Jervis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Jervis. Philip is survived by his parents, Doanld and Dorothy Felter of Sparrowbush, his long time companion, Karen Marsh at home, his two uncles Lester Felter of Port Jervis and Harry Felter of Sparrowbush and several cousins. Jess W. Gluckler, age 57 of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Bon Secours Community Hospsital, Port Jervis, NY.
Jess was born on December 2, 1955 in Oceanside, NY, the son of the late George Gluckler and Jean Capobianco Gluckler who survives.
Jess was a practicing psychologist in Milford, PA. He was a member and chairman of Planning Board Town of Lumberland. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman who loved being on top of the mountain. He also was a New York Yankees fan. He was loved by his family and was known for his generosity as a charitable guy who was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Gluckler of Highland Mills, NY; his brother, George Gluckler of Highland Mills; two nephews: Travis Gluckler of Las Vegas, NV, and Brett Gluckler of Highland Mills, and his niece, Samantha Gluckler of Caldwell, NJ.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 16th at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. Interment will follow at Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey, NY.

Kenneth W. Schwartz, Sr., age 66 of Milford, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was born on April 29, 1947 in New York City, NY, the son of the late Edward F. Schwartz, Sr., and Helen Stetter Schwartz. Ken was a member of the Stony Point Senior Citizens. He married Koreen Kapp Schwartz, who survives at home. Ken is also survived by his son, Kenneth Schwartz, Jr., and his wife Karen of Monroe, NY, his daughter, Kathryn Purves of Washingtonville, NY, his brother Edward F. Schwartz, Jr., and his wife Mary-Ellen of Carey, NC, 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn,Kevin, and Kylie, his nephew, Edward F. Schwartz, III and his niece Barbra H. Schwartz. Bernard "Nick" Tufano, age 94 of Matamoras, Pennsylvania and formerly a long time resident of Monguap, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, Penna. Nick was born on October 13, 1918 in Port Jervis, New York, the son of the late Antonio and Giovonelle Giordano Tufano. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. He attended St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. Nick was an avid hunter and fisherman, thoroughly enjoying the outdoors. He married Carol Phillips Tufano, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Anthony Tufano of Port Charlotte, Florida and Nicholas Tufano and his wife Maureen of Port Jervis, and his daughter, Bernadette Tufano of Matamoras, PA, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of close friends. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Nancy Carpenter, his 2 brothers, Ollie and Dominick J.Tufano, Sr. and his 3 sisters, Rose Innella, Florence Primavera and Mary Ricciardi. Kenneth R. Guinn age 85, of Milford, PA and formerly of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, at his home. Ken was born on October 8, 1927 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Irene Eck Guinn. He was a retired dock worker at Yellow Freight Trucking Co., in Maybrook, NY. Kenneth was a member of St. Mary's RC Church, in Port Jervis. He was also a member and Past Grand Knight of the Port Jervis Knights of Columbus, Council #471, and a member and Past Faithful Navigator, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Assembly 460, a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645. B.P.O.E., and a member of the Fowler Rescue & Salvage Co. #3, Port Jervis, Fire Dept. Ken was married first to the late Julia Pelenski Hendry Guinn and second to Barbara Shea Donahue Guinn, who survives at home. He is also survived by his two sisters: Theresa Fuller of Port Jervis, and Mary Laizure and her husband, Roger of Omaha, NE; his brother, James Guinn and his wife, Joyce of Matamoras, PA; his son, James Donahue and his wife, Lisa of Milford, PA; his daughter, Marilyn Ann Peterson and her husband, Tim of Mineola, NY; two grandchildren: Katelyn and Liam Donahue; his stepson, James Hendry and his wife, Virginia of Port Jervis; two stepgrandchildren: James Hendry, Esq., and Mark Hendry, and several nieces and nephews.
