SHARON ANN ULRICHS REYES, HUGUENOT, NEW YORK

Sharon Ann Ulrichs Reyes, age 49, of Huguenot, NY, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Port Jervis. She was born on January 19, 1963 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth F. and Beatrice Southard Ulrichs. Sharon worked in the housekeeping department at Milford Senior Care Health & Rehabilitation Facility, Milford, PA. She is survived by her three sons: David Stalter and his companion, Jennifer of Port Jervis, Jason Stalter and his companion, Amanda of Port Jervis, and Joseph Mann and his companion, Lisa of Huguenot, NY; three brothers: Douglas Ulrichs and his wife, Diana of Huguenot, Robert Ulrichs and his wife, Denise of Sparrowbush, and Michael Ulrichs and his wife, Pamela of Honesdale, PA; her long time companion, Arthur Mann at home, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers: Daniel, Ronald and Gary Ulrichs and her niece, Laura Ulrichs. VERA M. DeFAZIO, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Vera M. DeFazio, age 87 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. She was born on May 4, 1925 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mabel Swanerbury Markle. Vera married Joseph G. DeFazio, who pre-deceased her. She retired from Kolmar Labs,Inc.in Port Jervis. Vera is survived by her son Joseph G. DeFazio and his wife Nancy of Eldred, NY, her daughter, Donna Ramos and her husband Emanuel of Scranton, Penna., and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by her 2 sisters, Ethel Longrigg, and Edith Shafer, and 2 brothers, Douglas and Bernard Markle. Private graveside services will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. A family statement read, " Vera has left an empty spot in the heart of all who knew her and an empty booth at Stewarts Restaurant in Matamoras. JOSEPH ROBERT MARSHALL, III

Joseph Robert Marshall, III August 29, 1923 – July 27, 2012 Joseph R. Marshall, III, better known as Joe, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on July 27, 2012. He was born in Corona, Long Island, New York to Joseph R. Marshall, II and Ruth Munson Marshall. After graduating high school he attended the Pratt Institute-School of Science and Technology for one year. His education was interrupted when war broke out and he was drafted into the armed services. He served his country in the US Army for three years during the Second World War. After leaving the army, Joe worked for Western Electric and New York Telephone (Ma Bell) as a central office switchman for 42 years. He was a member of Union 1107 and a former member of the Haverstraw Elks. In his later years, Joe became an avid “power” walker and spent his early mornings exercising on the streets of Port Jervis. He enjoyed reading, listening to music and in his earlier years, gardening. He loved the peace and tranquility of Sullivan County and up until recently, he spent much of his time frequenting different local eateries (coffee black, no spoon). He was predeceased by the love of his life, Dorothy (nee Dean) his wife of 56 years, his grand-daughters, Heather and Lynette and his “fourth daughter”, Donna. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children Kathleen, Ellen and her husband Stephen, Joseph and his wife Cathy, and Dorothy; his 7 grand-children Tammy Dunlavey, Keriann Marshall, Bryan Huslinger, Shoix Marie and her husband Terrence Mallon, Stephen James Huslinger and his wife Misty, Katrina Marshall and Christopher Siegel and his 9 great grand-children Keith, Alyson, Damion, Elizabeth, Amelia, Kearsten, Brady, Alana and Gavin as well as his brother Skeets and his wife Rosie along with their children and grand-children. We’ll all miss you dearly, Daddy. God gave us memories so we could gather flowers in the winter. You left behind bouquets full. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all his physicians, to the staff at the Milford Senior Care Center and Rehab and to his friends at his favorite eateries who took the time to share a word with him and to look after him. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis, NY. JAMES A. PAGANO, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

James A. Pagano, age 82 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, NY. He was born on February 17, 1930 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Anthony and Lucy Marioni Pagano. Jim proudly served our country during the Korean War, with the U.S. Army. He was a retired shipping clerk for Kolmar Labs, Inc in Port Jervis. He was a member of Most Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Port Jervis, and a life member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645 B.P.O.E.. Jim married Lois A. Clark Pagano on July 3, 1954 , who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Steve Pagano and his wife Terri of Sparrowbush, NY, and Brian Pagano and his wife Lisa of Sparrowbush, his brother Joseph Pagano and his wife Alice of Port Jervis, 4 grandchildren, Nicole and Nicholas Pagano, Jennifer Mailett, and Michael Pagano, 4 great grandchildren, Isyce, Auron, Joshua and Samantha and several nieces and nephews. Jesse Conklin age 86 of Port Jervis, NY passed away, Tuesday July 24, 2012 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on November 29, 1925 in Godeffroy, NY, the son of the late Fred C. and Carrie E. Conklin. Jesse was a retired truck driver for Garber Bldg. Supply Co., in Staten Island, NY. He married Ida Weidinger Conklin, who pre-deceased him on May 3, 2012. CORNELIA J. "CONNIE" McCORMICK, PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Cornelia J. "Connie" McCormick, age 86 of Port Jervis, NY passed away, Friday, July 20, 2012 at Belle Reve in Milford, PA. She was born on February 1, 1926 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Henry and Adelaide Delaney Kidney. Connie married William J. McCormick, who predeceased her. She was a retired manager for the New York State Dept. of Unemployment in Middletown, NY. Following her retirement she worked as a secretary for the Eddy Farm Hotel and Resort in Sparrowbush, NY. She is a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis, the Port Jervis Business & Professional Women and the Cahoonzie Club in Sparrowbush. Connie is survived by her son, Dennis B. McCormick, Esq. and his wife, Linda of Middletown; two granddaughters, Kathryn Kasche and her husband, Edward, and Erin McCormick. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Laura M. Ulrichs, age 21 of Huguenot, NY passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Port Jervis. She ws born on September 3, 1990 in Port Jervis, the daughter of Douglas and Diana Greene Ulrichs. Laura worked as an assember for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis. She is survived by her parents, Douglas and Diana Ulrichs at home; her son, Donovan Hulse; two brothers, Fred Kelly and his wife, Krisitne of Greeley, PA, and Kenneth Ulrichs of Huguenot; two sisters, Patricia Majors and her husband, Tyrone of Huguenot, and Theresa Ulrichs and her fiance, Sean of Greely, PA; her maternal grandmother, Virginia Greene of West Hurley, NY; 11 nieces and nephews, several cousins, aunts, and uncles. RALPH CONKLIN, HUGUENOT, NEW YORK

Ralph Conklin, Sr., age 75 of Huguenot, NY, passed away Saturday July 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on May 1, 1937 in Godeffroy, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Rose Boyd Conklin. Ralph proudly served our country during the Korean War, with the U.S. Army. He was a retired construction worker with Local 17 Union in Newburgh, NY. He also worked for the Town of Deerpark Highway Dept. Ralph married Elizabeth M. Konefal Conklin, who survives at home. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Ralph Conklin, Jr. and his wife MaryJane of Huguenot, NY and James Conklin of Huguenot, his daughter, Jessica Taylor of Port Jervis, his brother Daniel Conklin of Smyrna, New York, 2 sisters, Lou and Harriet McKane, both of Georgia, 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Ralph III, Adam, Paul, Anthony and Andrew Conklin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons Timothy and Daniel Conklin,3 brothers: William, Robert, And George Conklin and 4 sisters: Florence Porter, Starlene Storms, Viola Ford, Martha Donnelly, and Grace King. JOHN E. HOLLEY, OTISVILLE, NEW YORK

John E. Holley, of Otisville, N.Y. passed away Tuesday July 17, 2012 at St. Teresa's Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Middletown, NY. He was born on August 25, 1927, the son of Henry Easton Holley and Ethel Byron Holley. John was born and matured in Otisville, N.Y., graduated from Otisville High School and Orange County Community College; he was a businessman in Otisville, and later was an employee of IBM in Poughkeepsie for a number of years until he retired. In his later years he was an active 50 year member of American Legion Post 1079, faithfully placing flags on Veterans graves for Memorial Day. He was an active member of the Middletown Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E., Post 1097, assisting in conducting the Bingo games each Friday evening. He was an active member of Mt. Hope and Otisville Senior Citizens and a loyal and reverent attendant at the Holy Name R.C. Church in Otisville. John enlisted and served in the United States Navy during World War, II and was honorably discharged. He was formerly a member of the New York State Guard; a member of the Otisville Boy Scouts, achieving a standing as Life Scout, and a member of the Otisville Boy Scout Marching Band; a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 1079, the Otisville Lions Club Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, later transferring to the Middletown Elks Lodge, and the Otisville Fire Department where he was an active officer and member for a number of years. John is survived by two sons, Reverend Kevin Holley and his wife Juanita of Warrenville, Illinois, and Brian Holley and his wife Cathy of Wappinger Falls, NY; two granddaughters, Kimberly Parvin and her husband Kayvan and Stephanie Holley, one great grandchild, Leila Parvin. John is also survived by two brothers, Henry John Holley and his wife Sherrill of Port Jervis and Thomas Horton Holley and his wife Mary Francis of Omaha, Nebraska. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and grand nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday July 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. The vigil wake service will be held Sunday afternoon a the funeral home with Msgr. Peter Tran Van Phat officiating. American Legion Post 1079 will conduct services at 7 PM, Sunday, and Elks services will be held at 7:30 PM. Prayers will be offered Monday July 23, at 10 AM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Holy Name R.C. Church, Otisville. Rev. Msgr. Peter Tran Van Phat will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Otisville. John leaves us evidencing a life of sound character and honesty, a loyal and faithful observer during his life of the tenets of the Scouts from Trustworthy thru all to Reverent. He was an example of a life on earth to be admired and encouraged by all to emulate. His family and friends knew him as a gentleman, and a loving son, father, and grandfather, brother and neighbor. She was born on January 21, 1939 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Linda Edith Esposito Beverley. She was a retired manager of Shiffel Tanning in Johnstown, NY. She is survived by her long time companion William H. Drewes, at home, her son Gary R. Peek and wife Teri of Greenwood, AK, 2 daughters, Sandra Freeman of New Hartford, NY, Terese M. RUSSELL F. SAUER SR., LAKE WALES, FLORIDA, FORMERLY OF PORT JERVIS, NEW YORK

Russell F. Sauer Sr., 87 of Lake Wales, FL passed away on June 29 at Orlando Regional Medical Center, FL. His untimely death was due to serious injuries sustained in an auto accident on June 16 in Lake Wales. He died peacefully with Russ Jr. at his side while his favorite jazz music eased his way "home". The son of the late Fredrick and Sophie (Meyer) Sauer, he was born Dec. 12, 1924 in Ridgewood, NY. He was a graduate of Grover Cleveland HS, the American Institute of Banking and Brooklyn College. Russ enlisted in the US Army at age 18 and served during WWII. He married Amelia "Mickey" M. Savarese April 29, 1951 in Corona, NY. They shared 61 years and six children together. Russ and his wife Mickey resided in Deer Park, Long Isl., NY until 1957 when they moved their family to Port Jervis, NY. They lived in Port Jervis until 2001, then retired to Florida where they had a home in Saddlebag Lake Resort, Lake Wales. He was employed for many years by Darlington Fabrics in Newton, NJ until they relocated. He then worked for Kolmar Labs. in Port Jervis until his retirement in 1990. Russ was a very talented, self-taught musician playing alto saxophone, clarinet and flute . He entertained the community while being a part of the jazz bands of Lum (Lambert) Trovie and Jimmy Neutts. Local followers had the pleasure of enjoying his music listening to the album "Neutts To You". For many years the guests at the Eddy Farm Resort were serenaded by the music of Russ and his trio. Russ belonged to local Musician Union #802 and #667. He was also an electronics and computer enthusiast, always ready to help someone in a glitch. Mostly, he was a loving and devoted husband, as he completely cared for our mother as her hearing deteriorated and she lost her sight in 2008. Russ was a loving father and Pop Pop too. He is survived by his wife Mickey, sons Russell Jr. and wife Marti Hodgdon of Aguora Hills, CA, Ronald of Englewood CO, Kerry of Port Jervis, daughter Janet Smith and husband Russ of Milford, PA, and daughter-in law Kim Sauer of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren Heather (Sauer) Rey, Jennifer (Sauer) Frady, Amy (Sauer) Skellett, Erin (Sauer) Finn, Kelly Sauer and their spouses, Dr. Scott, Megan, Michelle, Kevin, Morgan and Ryan Sauer; Kendall and Garrett Mello; Darren, Bryan, and Kyle Smith, Erik and Matthew Decker; great-grandchildren Zachary and Cooper Rey, Myla Skellett, Griffin Frady, and twins (born on June 19, 2012) Kylie Ann and Dylan Thomas Finn. Surviving also are sister-in-law Isa Savarese, and many nieces, nephews and their families. His family would like to acknowledge special SLR friends Madeline Conway, and Lynn and Chuck Larson. Their unselfish love and support of Mom and Dad will always be remembered. He was predeceased by his parents, son Jeffrey Sauer, daughter Cynthia Decker, daughter-in-law Nancy Sauer, sisters Caroline Hock, and Violet Ruedi, niece Elaine Bartlett, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
