Mary Baldanza, Port Jervis, New York

Mary Baldanza, a longtime area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, N.J. She was 72.

The daughter of the late Louis and Jennie Baldanza, she was born December 15, 1934 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Survivors include four nieces: Liz Silko and her husband, Gregory of Milford, Pa., Diane Clausi, Gina Traslavina and Jenny Traslavina, all of Brooklyn; one nephew, William Clausi, Jr. of Brooklyn; three great nieces: Jessica Silko, Michelle Silko and Dan Delgado; four great nephews: Gregory Silko, Lt. Christopher Silko and his wife, Isabelle, Erik and Jamie Silko.

Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. on Monday, January 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Prayers and Entombment will take place on Tuesday, January 30 at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens, N.Y.

Dorothy K. Moncho, Port Jervis, New York

Dorothy K. Moncho, age 91, late of Port Jervis, a retired school teacher for the Shohola Pennsylvania School and a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis.

She was the daughter of the late Gotthardt Krause and Mary Terns Krause. Dorothy was born at Matamoras, Pa. on June 16, 1915. She was married first to the late William G. Mayfield and second to the late John Moncho.

Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Port Jervis.

She is survived by two nephews, Alyn Krause and his wife, Gail of Matamoras, Pa. and Alfred Lyle Krause and his wife, Margaret of Tolland, Conn.; a niece, Carole Alden and her husband, Bill of Boca Ratan, Fla.; her two closest friends, Dana and Annabelle Padgett of Port Jervis.

Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis on Wednesday, January 24, from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 11 am at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc. Rev. Robin Martineau will officiate. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

Robert C. Wolff, Barryville, New York

Robert C. Wolff, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away, Friday, January 19, 2007 at Ellen Memorial Home, Honesdale, Pa. He was 82.

The son of the late Carl J. and Frieda Kloss Wolff, he was born May 2, 1924 in Barryville. He was the widower of the late Yolanda Foscolo Wolff.

Robert was a retired Chicken Farmer in Barryville. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II; Bob worked as a Machinist at Sidney, N.Y. until he was drafted into the U.S. army during World War II. After serving our country he attended Palmer Chiropractic and graduated from College in Iowa. He later Became a chicken farmer, maintaining his own chicken farm in Barryville.

A Family Statement reads: "Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing and growing his vegetables in his garden to have and share with others."

He is survived by two sons, Donald Wolff and his fiance, Gail Henry of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Robert Wolff Jr. of Barryville; two daughters, Elaine Blaut and her husband, Clarence Jr. of Barryville and Dolores Case and her husband, Robert Jr. of Port Jervis; 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Wolff and his wife, Margaret of Barryville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Clara White.

Friends may call on Monday, January 22, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 in the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Charles Myers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Eldred.

Irene I. Hazelton, Port Jervis, New York

Irene I. Hazelton, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the VanDuyn Nursing Home, Syracuse, N.Y. She was 94.

The daughter of the late John and Thursa Mae Hooker Middleton, she was born June 14, 1912 in Montague, N.J. She was married to George Hazelton, who survives.

Irene was a retired Assembler for Kolmar Labs, Inc. in Port Jervis and a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis.

Survivors include her husband, George Hazelton; one granddaughter, Rebecca Melick and her husband, Bruce of Jamesville, N.Y.; one grandson, Jeffrey House and his wife, April of Rochester, N.Y.; her son-in-law, Thomas House and his wife, Kathy of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Hazelton House; two sisters, Olive Durler and Dorothy Hamilton; and her brother, Jack Middleton.

Friends may call on Monday, January 22, 2007 from 10-11 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral service will be on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Rev. Angelo Forleo will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis.

Karl Lettenbichler, Port Jervis, New York

Karl Lettenbichler, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Ellen Memorial Home, Honesdale, Pa. He was 90.

He was born June 19, 1916 in Austria. He was the widower of the late Klara Welte Lettenbechler.

Karl was a retired Glass Engraver and a member of the Lumberland Seniors.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cornelia Kern of Glen Spey and Christel Becher and her husband, Manfred of the Canary Islands.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Dorothy E. Zachry, Port Jervis, New York

Dorothy E. Zachry, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 92.

The daughter of the late Frank and Lydia Markle Reeves, she was born February 13, 1914 in Middletown. She was the widow of the late John L. Zachry. They were married September 4, 1938.

Dorothy was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, Sunday School Teacher of Drew Church for many years and a member of the United Methodist Women. Dorothy was an avid Giants Fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Roman of Port Jervis; one son, John W. Zachry and his wife, Valorie of Matamoras, Pa.; four grandchildren, Debra Nason and her husband, Joe, Billie Gushue, John Gushue and his wife, Ginni, Steven Hess; five great grandchildren, Christina, LeRoy, Jason, Clarissa and John Michael; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Carlton, Richard and Frank Reeves, Jr.; and her grandson, Joseph Gushue.

Friends may call Monday, January 15, 2007 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be on Monday in the Drew united Methodist Church, Port Jervis. The Rev. Robert Cassidy will officiate.

Spring interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

Mary Catherine Kinney, Port Jervis, New York

Mary Catherine Kinney, 86, died January 2, 2007 in Denton, Texas, while visiting her daughter, Kathleen Duffy.

She was born on March 20, 1920 in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Frank Owens and Katherine Grimes Owens.

Mary Catherine (Owens) Kinney's family was her life. She was "Mom" to three children: Kathleen, John Kinney and his wife, Janice of Montgomery, N.Y. and Margaret Trolio and her husband, Peter of Burnt Hills, N.Y. She was "granny" to six grandchildren: Frank Duffy of Dallas, Texas, Patty Duffy of Little Elm, Texas, Timothy Kinney of San Francisco, Calif., Kathryn O'Donoghue of New York City, N.Y., Emily Trolio and Benjamin Trolio, both of Burnt Hills. She was "great-granny" to Desmond Jane O'Donoghue of New York City.

She was Aunt Mary Catherine or Mary to a host of nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. She is further survived by a sister, Marcella Balbach of Louisville, Ky., and two sisters-in-law, Pat Chase of Montgomery and Joan Altes of Daytona Beach, Fla.

She was predeceased by her husband, John P. (Jack) Kinney in 1980 and five brothers and sisters from the Louisville area: Bud Owens, Edward Owens, Charles Owens, Elizabeth Wagner and Patricia Gilbert.

She and Jack were married in her hometown of Louisville, where then Sgt. Kinney was stationed at Ft. Knox prior to shipping out to Europe with the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, they moved to Jack's hometown of Port Jervis where he was employed on the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad.

Mary was a socially engaging and friendly person to all who knew her and even those who didn't. She was a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church and had retired from working in the cafeteria at Port Jervis High School.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Jervis.

Dante "Dan" C. Bello, Town of Greenville

Dante "Dan" C. Bello, age 77, late of Town of Greenville, and a longtime resident of the area, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y.

A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War, he was a retired Quality Assurance Inspector for Defense Logistics Agency, United States Government, New York City, N.Y.

The son of the late Michael and Caterina DeMeo Bello he was born at Benevento, Italy on July 24, 1929. He married Louise Palazzari Bello.

Dan was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Palazzari Bello at home; three sons: Michael Bello and his wife, Nancy of Huguenot, Dante "Dan" Bello Jr. and his wife, Adista of Town of Greenville, and Paul Bello and his fiancée, Denise Younghans of Town of Greenville; six grandchildren: Robert, Kenneth, Ashley, Victoria, Jeremiah and Kallie; three great-grandchildren: Anthony, Nicole, and Emma and his sister-in-law, Rosalie Scudellari of Wayne, N.J.

He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Bello.

Friends may call on Friday, January 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. Prayers will be offered Friday afternoon at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, with the Rev. Dennis Dinan officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Jervis.

Doris A. Rowe, Matamoras, Pa.

Doris A. Rowe, age 66, late of Matamoras, Pa., a lifelong resident of the area and retired payroll clerk for Kolmar Labs, Inc., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, N.J.

She was the daughter of the late Oliver C. and Bernice Quick Decker. She was born in Port Jervis, N.Y. on June 26, 1940. Doris married Frank K. Rowe on January 18, 1958.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Rowe at home; two daughters, Robin Rowe of Athol, Mass., and Leisa Rowe of Mooresville, N.C.; two brothers, William Decker and his wife, Ann of Port Jervis, and Oliver "Obie" Decker and his wife, Kathy of Port Jervis; three sisters: Donna Fuller, Gloria Corey, Mary Cuddy and her husband, James, all of Port Jervis; one grandson, Nolan Rowe, and also several nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her sister, Helen Rake and her brother, Charles Decker.

She attended the Milford United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Port Jervis Women's Bowling League.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5 at 11 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. The Rev. David Repenning will officiate. Interment will be private.

Joanne R. Prophet, Port Jervis, New York

Joanne R. Prophet, 71, of Port Jervis, a retired LPN for Milford Senior Care, Milford, Pa. and lifelong resident of the area, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis, N.Y.

The daughter of the late David B. and Anna Liggett Prophet, she was born in Pond Eddy, N.Y. on November 14, 1935.

She is survived by her close friends Wendy Nocar and Rosita Castillo Everertt, both of Port Jervis, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her two sisters, Marie Smith and Doris Johnson. She was also predeceased by her very close friend, Ellie Burgwitz.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, N.Y.
