Charlotte E. DeGroat, Matamoras, Pa.

Charlotte E. DeGroat of Matamoras, Pa., died Friday, September 22, 2006 at her home. She was 76.

The daughter of the late George and Rosanna Carrigan Sievers, Charlotte was born March 1, 1930 in Harriman, N.Y. and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Charlotte was a retired Dietary Aide for Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Houghtaling and his wife, Irene of Spring Hill, Fla. and Kevin Houghtaling and his wife, Susan of Middletown; three daughters, Karen Houghtaling of Matamoras, Pa., Tammy Wykoff and her husband, Robert of Milford, Pa. and Lisa Kingston of Milford, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Tonya Richards, Salina Culver, Robert Wykoff, Carissa Wykoff, Brandon and Rachel Kingston, Donald and Kyle Houghtaling, Steven Houghtaling; four great grandchildren; three brothers, John and Ronald Sievers of Florida, James Sievers of Arkansas; two sisters, Florence Neeble of Texas and Rosemarie Rudy of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Delbert DeGroat in 1994 and also her first husband, Donald Houghtaling in 1956.

A Family Statements reads: "Charlotte loved to be with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend."

Friends may call Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Scheyhing will officiate.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

George E. Decker Sr., Matamoras, Pa.

George E. Decker, Sr. of Matamoras, Pa., died Friday, September 22, 2006 at his home. He was 88 years old.

The son of the late Issac J. Decker and Catherine Crocker Decker, George was born June 28, 1918 in Matamoras, Pa., and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was married to Pearl I. Haas Decker.

George was retired from Noveltry Slipper Co., Port Jervis; and also retired as road foreman for the Town of Westfall and Retired Chief of Police for Westfall Township. He was a member of the Milford Lodge of Masons # 344 F. and A.M.; member of the Lehigh Consistory; and Matamoras Fire Dept. George was a Fire Warden for 50 years for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania; member of Spring Brook Hunting Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Maryann Wolfe and her husband, Marvin of Kernersville, N.C. and Georgian Buttars of Roy, Utah; two sons, George Decker and his wife, Diana of Matamoras, Pa. and Stephen Decker and his fiance, Jennifer Katz of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren, Lorie Schuman, Daria Montgomery, Isaac Decker; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Hanna Schuman, Colten and Caleb Schuman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Stephen Decker will officiate.

Interment will take place Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, Pa.

Lawrence F. Henderson, Port Jervis, New York

Lawrence F. Henderson of Port Jervis, died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. He was 79.

The son of the late Lewis and Grace Titsworth Henderson, Lawrence was born August 12, 1927 in Wantage, N.J. He was a longtime resident of the area.

Ronald was a retired truck driver for Baldwin Trucking, Vernon, N.J.

A Family Statements reads: "He will be sadly missed by all who knew him."

Survivors include five daughters, Michele Casterlin and her fiance, Gene of Port Jervis, Jenn and her companion, Murph of Harrisburg, Pa., Linda and her family of Oklahoma, Darlene and her family of Oklahoma and Patty and her family of Newport, Pa.; son, Roger Henderson and family of Oklahoma; stepsons, Dale of New Jersey, Michael and Albert of Harrisburg, Pa.; several grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Henderson and Leslie Shauger; and several nieces and nephew.

He was predeceased by two sons, Larry and Danny; and his grandson, Rubin.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday, September 25, 2006 from 10-11 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Don Coy will officiate.

Interment will be private.

Floyd H. Fredricks, Port Jervis, New York

Floyd H. Fredricks, of Port Jervis, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 77.

The son of the late William T. and Jennie Ellen Mabee Fredricks, Floyd was born July 4, 1929 in Warwick. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was married to the late Dorothy Conklin Fredricks.

Floyd was a retired Mechanic for Ford Motor Co., Mahwah, N.J. He also worked for Altec Lansing (Sparkomatic); he worked for the Town of Deerpark, Suttons Garage and he delivered newspapers for the Tri-State Area.

A Family Statements reads: "Dad was a caring person. Whenever someone needed help he would be there for them. He was a gifted mechanic. He was a loving father and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed not just by his family and friends, but by his dogs, Bruce and Buddy. He was a member of the Three Pines Hunting Club and he loved to bowl."

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Fredricks, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Port Jervis and Gene Fredricks of Port Jervis; one daughter, Teresa Aber and her husband Steven of Port Jervis; two brothers, Samuel Fredricks and his wife, Virginia of Pond Eddy, William Fredricks and his wife, Phyllis of Eldred; two sisters-in-law, Joan Applegate of Sparrowbush and Rose Fredricks of Narrowsburg; five grandchildren, Frank Conklin and his wife, Jeanine, Michelle Fredricks, Floyd Fredricks of Illinois, Luke Aber and wife, Jenny, Sandra Aber and her boyfriend, Shawn Neely; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Shaw; and his brother, Clifford Fredricks.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, September 25, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Josephine L. Furman, Port Jervis, New York

Josephine L. Furman, a lifelong resident of the area, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Taylor Care Center, Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Givonni and Antonia Gilberti Delfino, she was born May 28, 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

A homemaker, Josephine was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Pond Eddy, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Gargiulo and her second husband, James Furman.

Survivors include three sons: John A Gargiulo and his wife, Wendy, of Glen Spey, N.Y., Neil Gargiulo and his wife, Pamela, of Bayshore, Long Island, and Edward Gargiulo and his wife, Rose of Weston, Conn.; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 East Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. The Rev. Anthony Moore will officiate.

Burial will be in Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Duane "Buz" Bauer, Matamoras, Pa.

Duane "Buz" Bauer of Matamoras, Pa., died at home, on Monday, September 18, 2006. He was 64.

The son of the late Jack Bauer and Stella Prussia Bauer, Duane was born April 20, 1942 in Port Jervis. He was married to Judy MacAlarnery Bauer, who survives. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

Duane was a retired Supervisor at C. and D. Technologies in Huguenot.

Survivors include his wife, judy MacAlarney at home; one daughter, Becky Stewart and her husband, Eric of Mill Rift, Pa.; one granddaughter, Sabrina; three sisters, Pricilla Hendershot of Port Jervis, Shelly Baumgardner of Port Jervis and Diane Sutke of San Diego, Calif.; his son-in-law, Robert Williamson; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Zoey.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jody Williamson.

Friends may call at the Thursday, September 21, 2006 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in the Knigh-Auchmoody Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Quarry Hill Cemetery, Rio.

Charlotte M. Homer, Port Jervis, New York

Charlotte M. Homer of Port Jervis, died Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the Lackawanna Health Care Ctr., Pecksville, Pa. She was 95 years old.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Aurelia Henschell Merritt, Charlotte was born April 24, 1911 in Goshen. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was married to the late Charles M. Homer.

Charlotte was the retired vice president of The First Federal Savings and Loan, Port Jervis. She was a member of the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis and former Consistory member; member of the River Valley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #33, Port Jervis.

Survivors include one daughter, Stacy Maniguet and her husband, Miche of Plainfield, N.J.; two grandchildren, Gerritt age 11, and Danielle age 8; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 5, 2006 from 5-7 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St. Port Jervis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday evening, September 5, 2006 at 7 p.m. in The Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. The Rev. Miche Maniguet will officiate.

Burial will be Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis.
