Mary "Chrissie" Lyons, Montague, New Jersey

Mary "Chrissie" Lyons, born on February 24, 1952, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed into the everlasting light of heaven on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, after a long battle with breast cancer. A resident of Montague, N.J., for more than 10 years, she grew up in Lindenhurst, N.Y. She leaves behind her husband of 33 years, Michael; her daughter Jessica Lyko and husband Wes Lyko of Port Jervis; her son Michael at home; and her granddaughter Samantha - the apple of her eye. Mary was a deeply spiritual person and lived life on her own terms. She spent many hours walking and meditating on her 20 acres of Eden, many called her back yard. She believed firmly that even as we are born to live so are we born to die. Even with her death imminent, she felt fortunate knowing that God blessed her with acceptance of her fate. She was at peace and was looking forward to what lies on the other side. She believed strongly that we must all face life and death with dignity, acceptance and most of all love - never giving in to the force of fear. She believed in living a natural life and experiencing a natural death. Her dying hope was that others would awaken and rejoice in all the great mysteries that life and death have to offer. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at St. James the Great R.C. Church, 75 River Road, Montague, N.J. "Grandma was granted a long, lovely life: A mother, a sister, a Grandma, a wife.

She had many titles to many a folk, and many a many a heart will be broke.

"Mom", "Gertie", "Grandma", whatever you used, remember her love to diminish your blues.

Her passing along to the Heavens above, are soothed by the promise of Jesus' love.

Her faith was impressive, her diligence strong, and now she can help to fill Heaven with song.

She's back home with Grandpa, her mom and her clan. It's all just a small piece of God's giant plan.

So think of her eyes, and her bright, shining smile. Think of the time that you shared for a while.

Think of the Love that she told you was yours. Think of her happily at Heaven's door.
