KENNETH E. DECKER Mill Rift, Pa. Kenneth E. Decker, a retired barber, Matamoras, and Milford, Pa., and lifelong area resident, died Monday June 28, 2004 at his home. He was 76. The son of the late Donald and Viola Norton Decker, he was born January 29, 1928 in Matamoras, Pa. He was the widow of Georgianna Carlock Decker. He was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church; a veteran of the Korean Conflict, US Army; member of Country Cruisers, Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; former member of the Catskill Cruisers Car Club, Monticello; and member of the Matamoras Fire Dept. Survivors include one son, Gary Decker of Shohola, Pa.; one grandson, Matt Decker; two sisters, Carol Pinckney and her husband Ross of Belleview, Fla., Arlene Wagner and her husband Jack of Barryville; three nieces Susan Hill, Jacqueline Baumgardner and Gretchen Stephens. Friends may call Wednesday, June 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. The Matamoras Fire Dept. will conduct services Wednesday evening at the funeral home. KEITH D. McKIM SR. Slate Hill, N.Y. Keith D. McKim Sr., a retired bus driver for New Jersey Transit, Fairview, N.J., and 32-year area resident, died June 24, 2004 at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. He was 78. The son of the late Calvin and Mildred Tomilson McKim, he was born March 1, 1926 in Meade Township, Mich. He was the widower of Emma Pfeiffer McKim. He was a veteran of WW II, US Navy and the Korean War. Keith was an avid farmer and had several small livestock and a devoted dog, "Bingo." He was a devoted father to Keith D. McKim Jr. and his wife Eileen of Beaver, Pa.; his daughter, Kathleen Nourie and her fiancè, Robert Case of Port Jervis; son, Kevin McKim of Jersey City, N.J.; six grandchildren, Tracey, Rebecca, Leith Ann, Heather, Elaine and Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Nelson and Phyllis McDowell both of Muskegon, Mich. and Lois Johnson of Nunica, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Clarence McKim. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. The Rev. REV. KENNETH G. SCHIELDS Levittown, Pa. Formerly of Port Jervis, N.Y. The Rev. Kenneth G. Schields, a retired Reformed Minister and lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Bucks County Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. He was 69. The son of the late George and Elsa Cuddeback Schields, he was born June 19, 1934 in Port Jervis. Ken was a 1952 graduate of the Port Jervis High School and graduated from Rutgers University and New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He also attended Princeton Theological Seminary and received clinical training at Bergen Pines, N.J. He served the following churches: The Germantown Reformed Church, Germantown, N.Y.; The Finderne Reformed Church, Finderne, N.J.; the Danboro Reformed Church, Danboro, Pa.; and the Faith Reformed Church, Levittown, Pa. Ken was also Chaplain of the Finderne NJ Fire Dept and Camp Russell Boy Scout Camp in the Adirondacks. Survivors include his wife Marlene Beyea Schields at home; one son Kenneth Schields Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Nancy Schields of Levittown, Pa.; one brother Robert Schields and his wife Phyllis of Sparrowbush; one granddaughter Elizabeth Schields; and two nieces, Darla Fleiger and Stacy Moegenberg. ANN KOWALSKI Milford, Pa., Ann Kowalski, a resident of Milford, Pa., formerly of Port Jervis, and a longtime area resident and homemaker, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 71. She was born June 4, 1933 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Edward Kowalski. Survivors include three sons, Roger Kowalski and his wife, Sheri, of Milford, Pa., Erik Kowalski and his companion, Susan Davis, of Matamoras, Pa., and Jamie Kowalski and his wife, Mandy, of Matamoras, Pa.; two grandchildren, Kerri Lynn Kowalski and Jacob Loske. HELEN E. STRATTON Port Jervis, N.Y. Helen E. Stratton, life-long resident of Port Jervis, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Belle Reve, Milford, PA; this was a true celebration for Helen. She was 96. Born November 29, 1907 in Middletown, NY, she was the daughter of Oscar and Bertha Wallace Terhune. She is the widow of Clyde F. Stratton; they were married October 20, 1932. Mrs. Stratton was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Port Jervis; member St. Anne's Guild of the Church; St. Francis Hosp. Auxiliary and Century Club, member of the National AARP. The Stratton family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Hospice St. John of Pittston, PA for the loving care given to their mother. Survivors include one son, C. Fred Stratton and his wife Jean of Wolf Lake, Wurtsboro, NY; four daughters: Mary Gregory and her husband G. Son of the late Henry and Sophia Neitz Weiss, he was born in Edenville, NY April 9, 1927. He was married to Evelyn Weiss, who survives. Mr. Weiss was a member and Past President of the Minisink Valley Kiwanis Club, Slate Hill, NY; member of the Lake Wales Elks Club and the Port Jervis Elks Club # 645 B.P.O.E., Port Jervis, NY. He was a Veteran of WWII, U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Weiss at home; daughter, Theresa Casino of Mount Holly, NJ; three sisters: Laura Wooster and husband Richard of Port Jervis, Irma Aschoff of Matamoras, PA and Helen Boyd and husband Harry of Highlands, NY; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. FRANK CAPUTO Port Jervis, N.Y. Frank Caputo, a 27-year area resident, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis after a short illness. He was 87. The son of the late Carlo and Stefana Florio Caputo, he was born Jan. 13, 1917 in Brooklyn. He married Rose Centrone Caputo on Jan. 25, 1948 in St. Catherine of Genoa R.C. Church. He was a retired supervisor for the US Postal System, Manhattan serving for 30 years and a retired part-time employee of the Off Track Betting, Port Jervis serving for 15 years. He was a member and usher of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis; member of Port Jervis AARP; veteran of WW II, US Air Force stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base, Amarillo, Texas; and member of the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis. A family statement reads, "He was a loving and kind husband and a family man who will be dearly missed by all. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather." Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rose Centrone Caputo at home; two sons, Carlo Caputo of Middletown, Dominic Caputo of Middle Village, Queens; two daughters, Rosetta Caputo at home, Frances Usischon of Port Jervis; two granddaughters, Donna Rose Case and her husband Ryan and Theresa Usischon; one brother, John Caputo and his wife Christine of Viera, Fla.; two nephews, Carol and Stephen Caputo; one sister-in- law, Helen Caputoof Ridgewood, N.Y. Newberry Store, Port Jervis, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at the Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center, Lake Ariel, PA. She was 95. Daughter of the late Gilbert and Caroline Leonard Cameron, she was born August 1, 1908 in Peekskill, NY. She was married to the late Albert Henry Bodine. Mrs. Bodine attended the Grace Episcopal Church, Port Jervis, NY. Survivors include her daughter Judy Quick of Matamoras, PA; son Reid Bodine of Matamoras, PA; daughter-in-law Carol Bodine of Delaware; seven grandchildren: Russell, Robert, Rita, Ronald, Michele, Judi and Rodney; 11 great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Mary Prothero of Port Jervis, as well as several nieces and nephews. Carlin "Carli" Elizabeth Schulman, retail manager for Fascinations, Tempe, AZ and life-long area resident, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 in Tempe, Az, as a result of injuries due to an automobile accident. She was 25. Daughter of Dr. Mitchell Schulman and Judith Weiss, she was born October 17, 1978 in Port Jervis. Carli was a 1997 graduate of Delaware Valley, H.S. Westfall, PA. She participated in various school activities and sports and was especially active with the Odyssey of the Mind; she achieve a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate at the age of 16; she was gifted in the field of music, writing her own lyrics and performing nationwide. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. BOHDAN HIRNIAK Glen Spey, N.Y. Bohdan Hirniak of Glen Spey, a longtime area resident, and a retired chemist for Hoffman-La Roache, Nutley, N.J., died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at his home in Glen Spey. He was 88. The son of the late Nikephor Hirniak and Maria Stebnycky Hirniak, he was born June 2, 1915 in Ukraine. He was a member of St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey. Bohdan was very active in the Ukrainian community, for 60 years he entertained many by adapting Ukrainian folk music to hs beloved tangos and lead a popular orchestra whose members included his wife, brother and son. He shared his love of music and life. Survivors include his wife, Herta Pautsch Hirniak, at home; two daughters, Tetiana Cymbal and her husband, Victor, of Kerhonkson and Ulana Semeniuk of Glen Spey; one son, Jurij Hirniak and his wife, Joann, of Franklin, N.J.; one goddaughter, Zirka Hirniak Cronin; one sister, Luba Cholhan of Passaic, N.J.; one brother, Alexander Hirniak of Clifton, N.J.; nephew, Dr. George Saj and his wife, Martha; and six grandchildren, Romana, Melanie, Jurij Jr., Jayde, Victoria and Andrew. She was 70. Daughter of the late Francis R. Conklin and Clarissa Chadwick Peets, she was born February 24, 1934 in Ramsey, NJ. She married the late Francis Roy Conklin. They were married for 19 years. A family statement reads: "She was a loving mom, grandma and friend. She will be greatly missed." She was an honors graduate of Franklin K. Lane HS, Queens, NY. Sullivan County Office of the Aging named her Senior of the Year for the Town of Lumberland in recognition of her outstanding contributions towards improving the quality of life for the people of the Town of Lumberland and County of Sullivan. ZITA CODICHINI INNELLA Port Jervis, N.Y. Zita Codichini Innella of Port Jervis died May 1, 2004, at Mercy Community, Port Jervis, surrounded by her family and loved ones. For many years she was a seamstress at Andmore Sportswear in Port Jervis. She was born in Port Jervis June 28, 1921, the daughter of Ercole and Rose Grappella Codichini. She was married to Sam Innella who predeceased her. Mrs. Innella was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Port Jervis, and of the Mount Carmel Society, Port Jervis. Her children said, "she was the best of mothers and grandmothers and had a beautiful soul. She was a wonderful cook and made the best meatballs in town. Every holiday was an occasion to gather at her house and feast. She treasured life and made the most of any misfortunes that befell her. She treasured each of her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter Michelle Innella who died an untimely death from cystic fibrosis. She is survived by her son, Michael Innella and his wife, Charlene, and her daughter, Janis Osborne, and her husband Peter, all of Port Jervis. Also by her grandchildren Thomas McCann and his wife, Gina; Michael McCann and his wife, Melissa; Megan Scott and her companion David Earl; Richard Dutton and his wife, Margaret; Sherrill Rumsey and her husband, George; Kyle Innella and his wife, Cindy, and Michael Dutton. And by her great grandchildren: Cassie, Ryan, Nicole, Joshua, Cody, Natasha, Brad, Brittany, Bobby; Kyle, Ryan, Colin, Jamie and Nick. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Codichini and his wife, Ruth, of Kennett Square, Pa. and her best friend, Helen Connelly, of Port Jervis and several nephews and nieces. Son of the late Henry and Anna Wissel Kuykendall, he was born November 30, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY. He was married to the late Adelaide Wright Kuykendall for 60 years. Ted was councilman for the 3rd ward, City of Port Jervis, and councilman at Large. He ran successfully in 1960 with James E. Cole for Mayor as Independent candidates against both the Republican and Democratic parties. He was a member of the Port Jervis Republican Committee; charter member of the Port Jervis Vol. Ambulance Corps; charter member of the Port Jervis Lions Club; President of the Port Jervis Taxpayers Assoc.; member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks # 645 B.P.O.E. He was former director of Port Jervis Urban Renewal Agency; former member of the Port Jervis Police Commission; member of the Zoning Board of Appeals; Vice President of the Port Jervis School Board; former member of Neversink Engine Co. #1, Port Jervis Fire Department.Ted Journeyed to Albany on numerouse occasions with a Lobbey Group to persude the N.Y. D.O.T to build an exit for Port jervis off the newly proposed Interstate Route 84. Member of the Port Jervis Friends of Recreation to preservr Church Street Playground. He was the former owner of the Wurtsboro Diner Along with owning his own company, Flexible Fabricators, Ted was a former accountant for Gillinder Bros. Glass Co., Port Jervis and was the Treasurer for the War Bond Drive during WWII, which Gillinders sponsored. Member of the Civil Air Patrol, WWII; former Accountant for Kolmar Labs Inc., Port Jervis and accountant for Techniflex Corp. He was associate Director for Investors Syndicate Corp., NY, NY. President of the Board of Directors Sunnyside Hosp., Port Jervis and member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis. A family statement read: "Dad was a loving husband and father. He always had time for others and made many sacrifices for his family. He loved his grandchildren immensely and cherished his time with them. May the smile on his face remain with us and his spirit comfort our hearts every day until we unite in paradise. Our very special father, grandfather and friend." She was 83. The daughter of the late Roy F. Worden and Anna Krieter Worden Helms, she was born August 25, 1920 in Port Jervis. She was married to the late George H. Eurich. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis. She was a member of the Presby Players of the Church, member of past president of the Port Jervis Salvation Army, Ladies Auxiliary, and member of the Lunch Bunch of the Church. For several years she served lunches for the Port Jervis Nutrition Program; Shirley, along with Trudy Kassel, instituted the "Soup Kitchen" for the Salvation Army, and also worked at the Park Lane Restaurant, Port Jervis. She was the retired owner of the "Corner Store, Susquehanna, and a member of the Literary Volunteers for the Port Jervis Free Library, teaching adults to read. SALLY GILLINDER CUDDEBACK HAWKINS Port Jervis, N.Y. Sally Gillinder Cuddeback Hawkins, life-long resident of Port Jervis and a retired Registered Supervising Nurse at St. Francis Hosp. in Port Jervis, died Friday, March 12, 2004 at her home. She was 78. The daughter of the late William T. Gillinder II and Sara Osmond Gillinder, she was born November 8, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA. She was first married to the late Samuel Mills Cuddeback Jr. and then to Ret. Commander, John F. Hawkins. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Port Jervis; the Atter Guild; The Garden Club of Orange & Dutchess Counties; The Port Jervis Music Study Club; Port Jervis Antique Study Club; The Alumni Abbington Friends School, Philadelphia, PA. She was a graduate of Pennsylvania Hospital of Nursing; University of Philadelphia. She was the Public Health Nurse for the City of Port Jervis immediately following WWII. Sally's father William T. Gillinder II, along with the Gillinder family, owned and operated the Gillinder Brothers Glass Factory in Port Jervis, which is noted for their fine glass wear that is sought after by collectors and museums. The Gillinder Glass company is still in existence today. A family statement read: "Sally was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a true and caring friend to so many. All who knew Sally appreciated her love of beautiful gardens and plants, classical music, and the many animals and birds that were also her friends." Survivors include her husband at home, Ret. Commander John F. Hawkins; one son, Samuel Mills Cuddeback III and his wife Meg of San Francisco, CA; one daughter, Sarah Osmond Cuddeback Egan and her husband Edward of Ramona, CA; her stepson, Richard Hawkins and his wife Carol of Houston, TX; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Mills Egan, Samuel Cuddeback Egan, Sara Storey Cuddeback, Talia Storey Cuddeback, Joshua and David Hawkins. She was 88. The daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Woelfel Kuntz, he was born July 6, 1915 in New York City. She was married to the late Bernard J. Ozehosky. MERLE ROOT CHASE Port Jervis, N.Y.

MERLE ROOT CHASE Port Jervis, N.Y. Merle Root Chase, 69, of Port Jervis, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 2, 2004 due to complications from cancer which she had been battling since a recent diagnosis. The daughter of the late Edward and Katheryn Root, she was born April 23, 1934 in East Orange, N.J. She graduated valedictorian from Hamburg High School in 1952. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1956, where she met and married Lt. Philip D. Chase on June 23, 1956. As a proud mother, Merle raised five children in the Port Jervis area. Through the years, she taught preschool at the Candy Cane Nursery School in Port Jervis. With her family, she enjoyed playing golf, at which her children excelled, and was a master at handling the family finances. Her children all were college bound and through scholarships and Merle's wise planning, each was able to graduate without the burden of student loans. Merle has been active for many years with the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church and assisted with numerous events of fundraising as treasurer for the church. Her love of children and people was evident as she spent her week as a volunteer for G.A.I.T. This organization, "Genuine Alternative In Therapy" is a learning relationship between a horse and its rider to help overcome disabilities. Her job was to lead a horse and ensure the safety of its rider. Her life was fulfilled with the progress that she realized with those in need. She was also a volunteer "runner" each Thursday for 15 years at Mercy/Bon Secour Community Hospital in Port Jervis. Merle was a critical half of an environmentalist team with her husband Phil. Together they enjoyed the challenge of trying to protect the river systems of the Catskills for future generations. Survivors include her husband Philip; daughter, Carol Chase of Port Jervis; sons, Robert Chase of Hoboken, N.J., Alivin Chase and his wife Janine of Minisink Valley and Barry Chase and his wife Lori of Pittsburgh, Pa.; brother, Robert Root and his wife Ola of Cincinnati, Ohio and grandchildren, Alex, Sarah, Erin and Joseph Chase; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her son Bruce Chase, who also battled cancer; his age 25. Merle was beloved by all who knew her and especially by her family who will greatly miss her. The son of the late John and Anna Jensen Kantenwein, he was born in Sussex, NJ on September 9, 1921. He was married to the late Dorothy Rome Kantenwein on February 1, 1941. Along with serving as Minister of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church for 15 years, Rev. Dan was the Chaplain for the Sparrowbush Engine Co. #1 Fire Department, Chaplain for the Monmouth Council Boy Scouts of America, Forestburg, NY, member of the Hardyston Lodge of Masons #98, F&AM; and a Veteran of WWII, US Army. Prior to Rev. Dan becoming a Methodist Minister, he was a self-employed dairy farmer operating his own dairy farm in Hainesville, NJ; he then became an engineer for the State of New Jersey as a road and bridge state inspector. The first church he served was The Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, Mt. Hermon, NJ. He then served at the Knowlton United Methodist Church, Knowlton, NJ, and then as Pastor at the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, W. DOROTHY L. LOEKLE Port Jervis, N.Y. Dorothy L. Loekle, owner and operator of the Beaverkill Angler, an Orvis sporting goods shop in Roscoe and resident of the area for many years, died Feb. 18, 2004 at home. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Trochelman, born Feb. 1, 1926 in Jersey City, N.J. She was the widow of Harold "Budge" Loekle. She was an active member of the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum and the BEAMOC Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Surviving are her son, Brad and his wife Mary Loekle of Sparrowbush; son, J. Kemp Loekle of Fleischmanns, N.Y.; and grandson, Bradford Loekle of Manhattan. Visitation will be private. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Florence "Toppy" Prisco, a retired floor lady for Little Tots, Port Jervis and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 86. The daughter of the late Levi and Kathryn Willman Armstrong, she was born Jan. 13, 1918 in Port Jervis. She was the widow of Wendy Prisco. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Sausbuck of Port Jervis; six grandsons, George Sauschuck and his companion Patti Mantz, Jeffrey Sauschuck, Michael Sauschuck and his companion Marina Conklin, Randy Sauschuck and his wife Barbara, Skip Melnick and his wife Kelly and Todd Melnick; her son-in-law, Alexander Skippy Melnick of Port Jervis; two nephews, Gary Lopriore and Michael Lopriore; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Ann Melnick; her grandson, Scott Sauschuck; granddaughter, Loria Ann Melnick and Melissa Sauschuck; sister, Betty Lopriore. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Survivors include her husband, Vernon L. Kalin Jr., at home; one daughter, Ann Conklin and her husband, William, of Port Jervis, three sons, TJ Kalin and his fiance Gail Brink of Huguenot, Bruce A. She was 94. She was the daughter of the late William and MaryJane Smith Morgan, born February 8, 1910 in Campbell Hall. She married the late Darius N. Patterson. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, NY. Survivors include: one son, George D Patterson of Wallkill; two daughters: Helen Brundage of Port Jervis and Grace Clawson of Las Angeles, CA; 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was 86. The daughter of the late Josef and Maria Michalska Herbko, she was born in Rega, Latvia, of February 16, 1917. She was the widow of Mitrofan Kosenkov, who passed away June 27, 2002. Survivors include one son, Valentino Kosenkov of Shohola, Pa.; three grandchildren, Mikhail, Kristine and Marya Kosenkov; and several cousins in Latvia. She was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Florence Lester Turner, born July 28, 1929 in Port Jervis. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis and a member of A.A.R.P., as well as a member of The Daughters of America. Croopin, a retired School Bus Monitor, for the Port Jervis School System and a life-long resident of the area, died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 86. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Rhoda Linley Schwaner, born January 17, 1918 in Port Jervis. She married Charles G. Croopin, Jr., who survives at home. Mrs. Croopin was a member and Sunday School Teacher for 60 years of the Grace Episcopal Church in Port Jervis, a member of the Port Jervis Vol. Ambulance Corp and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 685, Port Jervis, NY. Survivors include: her husband at home, Charles G. Croopin Jr.; two daughters: Barbara Britt and her husband William of Smithtown, Long Island and Caroline Croopin of Wappingers Falls, NY; two grandsons, Colby and Adam Britt; one granddaughter, Jessica Weissman and her husband Jeff and two great grandsons: Jacob and Joshua Weissman, also several nieces and nephews. Judd Ice House, Montague, NJ and Spagenberg-Wilbert Burial Vault Co., Port Jervis, died Monday January 26, 2004 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 91. He was the son of the late John B. and Elizabeth Mapes Jones, born September 19, 1912 in Montague, NJ. Howard married the late Anna Spencer Jones. He was a WWII US Army Veteran, with the 88th Infantry Division, Blue Devils, Lancaster, Pa. Howard is survived by one daughter, Mildred McConnell and her husband Edward at home. Also by several Nieces and Nephews. He was pre-deceased by five brothers and one sister. He was 65. He was the son of the Late Wiltona and Elizabeth Hulse Tidd, born January 22, 1939 in Port Jervis. He married Janet Fenton Tidd, who survives. Arnold was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Port Jervis and a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks #645 B.P.O.E. Survivors include his wife at home, Janet Fenton Tidd; one daughter: Deborah Runnalls and her husband David of Matamoras, PA; four brothers: Chester Tidd of Port Jervis, Ralph Tidd of Sparrowbush, NY, Harry Tidd and his wife Andrea of Port Jervis and William Tidd and his wife Candace of Port Jervis; six sisters: Susie Hughson, Shirley Martin, Eleanor Myers and her husband Michael, Arlene Gullick, Linda Edwards, Rhonda Stevenson and her husband Michael, all of Port Jervis; two grandsons: Brad and Christopher Foster. HELEN F. LEMON
MATAMORAS, Pa. - Helen F, Lemon, a retired equipment clerk for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a lifelong resident of the area, died Jan. 18, 2004, at the Julia Ribaudo Senior Care, Lake Ariel, Pa. She was 89.
She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Newburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Elmer L. and Grace M. Wells Mapes.
She was the widow of Francis J. "Abby" Lemon Sr.
She attended the Matamoras United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Pocono Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
In earlier years, she was very active as a member and past president of the Easter Lily Lodge of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, as her husband was an engineer on the Erie Railroad.
Her family said, "In June 1998, Helen's new home became Julia Ribaudo Senior Care, where she was lovingly cared for by many wonderful people whom her family and she came to know and love in those later years. Helen had many friends there and was very active in the many programs at Julia Ribaudo. She was known by all and they truly became her extended family. She had one very special friend, Edith Corey, who will truly miss her."
Survivors include her son, Francis "Butch" Lemon Jr., and his wife, Kay, of Matamoras; her daughters Jean Munoz and her husband, Joseph, of Matamoras, and Peggy Grennille and her husband, Bill, of Montague, N.J.; her grandchildren, Craig and Karen Lemon, Jimmy Emery and Elizabeth, Michael, Christopher and Megan Grennille.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Emery, and her son, Ralph R. Clark Jr.
Funeral services were Jan. 21 at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y., with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras.
Memorial contributions may be made to Julia Ribaudo Senior Care, c/o Activities Department, P.O. Box 97, Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
